Troy heard a bit of scuffling and some voices behind the door but dared not listen for fear of intruding where it wasn't necessary; then smiled brightly when the door opened and he spotted John there, "John! Brilliant to see you again, it's been far too long. Here, I brought that wine I had promised."
Troy lifted the bottle towards his cousin, and then shifted the packages he had in his arms into both hands, making his way inside and handed John one of the other packages, "For you, a bit of Christmas spirit I suppose, and the other's for your flatmate. If she's joining us..." Troy took note that there was no blonde currently occupying the room, and set the package for her down on the counter.
Each package contained first editions of a couple of books from Troy's library. John would know that collecting rare books was a passion of Troy's, and one such book was Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, first edition, first printing from Easton Press. He knew John loved Dickens, and what better story was Dickens known for than that ever graceful one.
And for Rose, whom Troy admittedly didn't know very well, was something he just assumed anyone would appreciate: a collection of all of Sir Arthur Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories. It was a 'first edition', but not a true first printing. It was an older book, worth around $200, but collecting a true first printing would be rather difficult considering most were written for articles.
Troy meandered about, removing his jacket and placing it on a hook he noted before turning about the place and looking to John, "Brilliant flat you've got here, fantastic really. A beautiful home."
Troy took a moment to catch up with John when Rose showed up and Troy managed a bright smell, "Hello Rose! Great to meet you as well, I was hoping you'd show up--John tells me you were a bit under the weather. I hope all's fine?"
