who john [ten] & helena! what catching up with his old friend! where her shiny new place! when saturday (12/27) warnings totally PG!
To say John was excited to see his old mate would be completely understanding the enthusiasm he had maneuvering his little blue car through the snow-ridden roads. He left early enough that morning in the hopes he'd make it through traffic unscathed, but it had been quite awhile since he'd left Irvine by highway. John had forgotten how gnarled traffic could be, and so his enthusiasm waned during the prolonged process of waiting for eternity just to move an inch.
It was absurd how many people were on the road, he had hoped that at least fewer drivers would be out given the snow. Undeterred all the same, John managed to make it to Santa Ana unscathed and no worse for the wear. Fortunately for him, he was a man full of patience for the things he knew were worth the wait. He hadn't seen Helena and Christina in ages, it felt like. The years sort of blended together the older he seemed to get, particularly now that he'd settled down in Irvine.
Navigating his way to Helena's new flat, John only got lost twice out of stubbornness before finally relying on the GPS to steer him properly. With a small belated Christmas gift in hand for Helena and Christina, John made sure to lock his car before bounding excitedly to the door. He never knocked on doors, couldn't quite explain why he avoided the process. There was just something very foretelling about the sound to him.
So, he rang and hung back a step, rocking back and forth on the balls of his feet in wait for his friend to receive him.
