Where: Tink’s place
What: Hanging out
Rating/Summary: Low/None
Status: Complete
Tink was working on her Halloween costume, but still wanted to hang out with her Dream sister. Though, she hadn’t told Peri yet about the Dreams--she didn’t want to freak her out--so she was keeping that part under wraps. After some texting back and forth, Tink invited Peri over so they could work on Halloween costumes together. Tink’s was nearly finished, and while she had the sewing machine and ironing board out, she might as well get as much done as she could. Tink’s place was a bit of a mess. There were inventions everywhere, boxes of bits and bobs on the shelves, wall to wall gears and springs. It was cozy, and Tink had pulley systems set up all over the place. She’d actually tidied up, though, and there was room to sit at the table while they worked. She answered the door and gave a smile to her friend/DreamSister. “Hey! Come on in. Did you bring your costume to work on?” To be honest, it was probably because this wasn't the first time Peri would be meeting Tink in person. There was the first time at Baxter's Bakery and then again at McDonalds to try to win something. If this she had been asked to go to the woman's house the first time around then she wouldn't have said yes. Just because there were horror stories about meeting people online. Although she had started feeling somewhat comfortable with the other woman. Quicker than she usually did which she just pushed to the back of her mind. She thought that she was running late as she knocked on the door. Although the smile on the other woman's face showed her that it probably didn't matter. "Hey," she said with a cheerful smile. "I did. It's almost finished but opinions are always needed." “That’s great! I’m still working on mine.” Tink said, letting the other into her apartment and closing the door behind her. Tink was wearing slippers with giant pom-poms on the toes. She turned back to where her sewing machine was set up and went back to work. “What are you going to dress as?” Then Peri was there just in time to see if she could help out. Without stepping on any toes. She was perfectly fine with just finishing up her costume. She set the almost finished costume onto the table. Not all of the fabric was put together so it looked like a bunch of black and grey fabric stacked on top of each other. "Hecate, the Greek goddess," she said as she started setting up next to Tink. “Ooh, that’s cool! Toga-like. I dig it.” Tink said, grinning as she moved to the sewing machine. “I’m just finishing up on this apron.” She was working on the pockets, putting the embroidery on them. It was free of fake blood, but that would come later. “...Alice in Wonderland. But the American McGee’s Alice. So the interesting one.” Peri wasn’t sure if she wanted to admit that it was because the costume would be easy to make. It wasn’t that hard to make a flowy goddess dress. Especially with the dark colors that would easily mask any mistakes that she made. With the goddess that she chose she could just say that it was part of the costume. “I’m still in a learning stage when it comes to sewing,” she said with a laugh as she was all set up to start working on it. She looked over at Tink’s costume. It looked like it had taken a lot of time to make. “I think that’s a good choice,” she said looking at the embroidery. “Thanks!” Tink grinned over at her sister--though she was trying really hard not to think of Peri that way. This was just a friend, right? A friend who hadn’t done any Dreaming. Maybe she would, eventually. But Tink didn’t want to push things, didn’t want to make it weird. “You’re doing great so far. Do you want to use my machine? Or are you… you look like you’re almost finished. We could take a sewing class together sometime,” Tink offered. "You don't seem like you need to take a class," she said with a little bit of a laugh in her tone. She really shouldn't compare. There was nothing wrong with the costume that she had made. Both of them were great costume. Everything was set out in front of her. She looked over at the machine. "No, I prefer to do it by hand." “Oh, okay.” Tink gave her a little smile, blushing just a bit. “Well, let me know if I can help in any way. I’m almost finished here. Then we can do something for dinner.” Tink beamed. “Pizza? Or Chinese. Or Thai? I know a really great place for that sort of thing.” “Definitely,” Peri said with a smile. Of course she said that she would ask for help if she needed any. Looking at her costume she didn’t see herself needing any help finishing the goddess costume. It was pretty easily finished but it wasn’t as if she would turn down the offer. There was nothing wrong with saying that she would. It didn’t meant that she would need to take Tink up on the offer if she didn’t need to. It was just polite to say yes anyway. Ooh, dinner. She actually hadn’t thought about them getting something to eat. “Just so you’re aware I’m a vegetarian,” she said making the other aware. “I’d probably go with Thai. It’s delicious.” “Ooh, okay.” Tink said, smiling. “That’s pretty easy. I mean, tofu is delicious. When I go Thai I go tofu, anyway.” She nodded once. “You have a favorite place?” Tink’s favorite place delivered, but she was always open to trying new restaurants. It was something that would have to be mentioned eventually. With the talk of food it seemed like the perfect time for her to mention it. That way Tink would know for the future. Also be warned that she would have to get a veggie pizza if they ever went for pizza. "Not in this area," she said as she thought about it for a second. She hadn't gone for Thai food since she had been in the Orange County. She was still discovering. "So whatever place you want," she said with a smile. "I'm sure it'll be good." Hey, veggie pizza was amazing. Tink never understood why they didn’t put artichoke hearts on every kind of pizza. Actually, she just loved pizza. Any kind so long as there weren’t olives or fish. “Okay. I’ve got a favorite place.” Tink said. “I’ll phone them up for delivery in a few. Let me finish this pocket, and I’m done with my dress.” She beamed. This was so much fun! Sewing with her sister. Even though her sister wasn’t really her sister. That would depend on the tastes of the individual person. A vegetarian pizza wasn't always for everyone. It was just something that she thought that she should mention. In case Tink was one of those people that didn't like the taste of a veggie pizza. It didn't change that some time Thai was the thing to hit the spot. Tink seemed to be into it as well. She was the one that brought of the dinner suggestions in the first place. "Yeah, okay," she said as she tilted her head slightly to look over to Tink. It didn’t take long for Tink to finish up the pocket that she was working on, then stand up from the sewing machine. She clipped the loose threads and gave it a shake, then draped the thing over a chair and headed into the kitchen to get the Thai menu. It was nearly worn soft, and had been folded and refolded so many times it was almost falling apart. Tink brought the menu back out and handed it to Peri. “Here ya go. Pick out whatever you like. My treat tonight.” There was a clear job in skill from what she was doing to what Tink was working on. She wasn’t sure if it was just because of practice or there was a natural talent. Either way she was still learning and slowly getting through the trial and error part. It was longer than she thought it would be. But to be fair she thought that sewing would be easier than it turned out to be. She took a close look at what Tink had just draped over the chair. She was about to reach out and touch the fabric when the menu was handed to her. “Oh I want two of these,” she said with a bright smile. “I’ll pay.” She was offering because she wanted two things off the menu. It was the only way she could think of to stay polite with the girl that she was hanging out with. Tink grinned softly. “All right.” She wasn’t gonna argue a free meal. “They normally give me free delivery when I order from this place. I’ll just have… the number fourteen.” They’d split the menu into lunch and dinner, and the lunch packaged meals had numbers. That’s what Tink got most of the time. She pulled out her phone and clicked the speed dial, then held it out for Peri. “You wanna order?” There wasn’t a remark, not one words against her paying for dinner. It probably would have made anyone else a little upset but it was actually good. She didn’t want to argue about how she should be paying. It probably would have put a damper on the night that they were having. There was no way that she would want that. Not after the two of them had been getting along so well. With that she took the phone from the other blonde, “Yeah, I will”. It was nice that she wouldn’t have to pay more to have it delivered. As soon as the person came on the line she started to place the order. She ended up getting two of the desserts they served there was well. It was always nice to end the mail with something sweet. Hanging up she looked up at the other woman. “They said it would be forty minutes,” she said as she reached the phone out to Tink. And Tink would totally get the next round. Next time they ate, Tink would buy. See? It worked out. Arguing over a check when one person offered to pay was silly and futile. “Perfect.” Tink grinned as she accepted the phone back from her Dream!Sister. “That’ll give me time to try this on.” She’d finished the final touches on her costume, and was looking forward to pulling it on and seeing how it looked. There was no way that Peri would turn down a fashion show. It wasn’t exactly a fashion show but it was showing off the costume Tink had made. It would have been both of them but she just didn’t think that her costume was ready to try on. She was worried that it would come apart. Although she was always worried that something she made would break away at the seams. It was just a secret little fear of hers. “Yes, go try it on,” she said with a tiny bit of excitement in her voice. She was sure that the costume would look fantastic. It was only on the chair and it already looked nice. Tink popped off into her bedroom to put the costume on. It fit like a glove. Tink was pretty good at making stuff, fashion included. So the costume came off without a hitch. She came out a moment later. “Do I look like Alice?” The small blonde started looking around the apartment as Tink was putting on the costume. She was just trying to get a feel for her new friend. It wasn’t like they had known each other for that long. It was just another way for her to get to know Tink without asking a bunch of questions. Any questions could be answered and learned over time. There wasn’t really a time limit to get to know each other. It wasn’t as if she thought either of them were going anywhere. She was standing near the kitchen when she heard Tink’s voice. With a smile she turned around to face Tink. She got a face full of Alice. “Oh my god, it looks great,” she said as her smile grew brighter. Tink’s place was full of gadgets and gizmos. (No whozits or whatsits, though. She left those to the mermaids.) She had inventions she’d designed that worked all angles, and baskets and bins of lost things around so she could invent at the drop of a hat. It was quite an interesting place. “Thanks!” Tink said, giving a little spin. “I think it’s perfect. How’s yours coming along? Are you almost finished?” There was no one that could say that Tink wasn’t her own unique person. Just looking around she could tell that there was no one that could change this girl. That was her kind of person. She liked to express herself, especially around her home, as well. “I think it’s done too,” she said fingering the fabric of the dress. She still wasn’t sure about trying it on yet. Although she wasn’t about to verbalize her worries to Tink. So it was at that point that she thought that she should try it on. “Do you think I should try it on?” she asked looking down at her costume. “Definitely!” Tink said. “You can use the bedroom or the bathroom, whatever you like.” She motioned to the hallway. “Actually, you use the bathroom, I’ll go change back. I don’t want to get Pad Thai on my Halloween costume before Halloween.” A sheepish grin. Then Tink was heading back down the hall to her bedroom so she could change back. Changing in the bathroom it was. Peri picked up the dress from the table. “Okay, I’ll go change in the bathroom,” she said with a smile still on her face. She couldn’t believe how much fun that she was having. It might have been because being new to the city, Tink was one of the first people that she met outside of work. She walked into the bathroom and started to change. The only thing that she was missing from the costume were the flower lace leggings that she had planned to wear with them. She had left those at home since she bought them, not made them. Walking out of the bathroom she did a little turn. Without the leggings the costume did show a lot of leg in the front.. Tink came out wearing her pajamas. They were men’s pajamas and had tools on them. Go figure. It was Tink. She turned at the sound of her sister and gave a bright grin and a thumbs-up. “It’s perfect. Really beautiful.” The little spin that she did wasn’t confidence. She thought that the costume would look better if it moved. It was easier to fake a little confidence. She wasn’t an actress because she was shy. Still it was nice to hear that Tink thought that the costume was beautiful and it didn’t fall apart when she came out. So that was two points in her favor. “You think so?” she said as she rubbed her hands across the fabric. “Yeah!” Tink beamed. She moved closer and lifted a hand to move the shoulder up a little farther. “...It’s not a perfect fit, but it’s really close. I think it looks exactly like you wanted it to.” She was grinning proudly at her sister. Though, she wasn’t exactly her sister was she? Little Peri was a tiny person. It wasn't surprising that the costume that she made was a tad bit big for her. Her gaze watched as Tink reached over and pulled up her shoulder. A moment later she turned her head and smiled at Tink. "I can't wait to wear it out," she said as she did another little turn. “Good! It’s going to be perfect. Do you have big Halloween plans?” Tink asked, moving to lean against the arm of the sofa. She didn’t have anything else planned for the night. Maybe they could just eat some dinner, watch a movie or something. Something not weird. Something where she wouldn’t be tempted to blurt out OMG you’re my Dream sister--let’s hug! or something along those lines. Well, the first plan was to finish the Halloween costume. She knew that there was a Halloween party in her complex that she was looking at. It might be a good way for her to get to know some of her possible future neighbors. “I was invited by the office staff of a condominium to attend a Halloween party,” she said not sounding sure. “It’s not set in stone.” She let a little hop. “I’m going to change back, okay?” she said as she started to turn back into the bathroom. “I’ll be out in a second.” It wasn’t more than three minutes before she came out holding her costume hanging on her arm. “Okay!” Tink moved to the sofa and turned on the television while she was gone, then gave her a grin when she came back. “You wanna put a movie on now, or wait until after the food gets here?” When the younger of the two girls came out of the bathroom she was asked a thought stopping question. It didn’t seem like there was any wrong answer to that question. There was a couple seconds of silence as she thought about it. “I think that we could just start it now,” she said as she joined the other on the couch. “Okay.” Tink grinned brightly. She used the remote control in the basket hanging by the sofa to turn on Netflix. “I can’t remember what we were going to watch. Does it matter?” She asked. No horror movies. Right? Something funny? Peri curled up on the other side of the couch. Pulling her legs up and against her body as she leaned against the arm on the opposite side of the couch. It was enough that she was sitting on the comfortable couch. She was perfectly fine with whatever movie that Tink wanted to watch. “Anything works for me. Just no documentaries,” she wasn’t in the mood to learn something. “Okay.” Tink beamed. She started flipping through the list of comedies, and ended up with something classic and very funny. The movie started and Tink felt happy. |
