Who: Peter Pevensie, Caspian, Lucy Pevensie, Will Herondale and Jem Carstairs
When: Backdated: Mid August
Where: The Beach
What: Hanging out and accidental assumptions
Rating/Warning: Family Friendly
Status: Complete

Aside from their date at the Santa Monica Pier, which had turned into the deaths of their phones, Peter hadn’t spent much time at the beach since he and Caspian had moved to California and now that the summer was almost over, they had decided that what they needed to do was spend a day hanging out on the beach. Peter had told Lucy and had been happy to find out that she would be able to join them. He’d also decided to contact Will and see if he was available to hang out as well. Peter still didn’t have very many friends aside from Renly, who he had been happy to see was also out in Orange County.

Peter, Caspian and Lucy had arrived at the beach first and set out their towels and an umbrella that Peter had purchased then Peter had proceeded to rub sunscreen onto his arms and chest. Sure not all British people were as susceptible to the sun, but Peter was one of the ones who would burn without protection and he didn’t feel like spending the next few days applying aloe vera constantly.

Caspian on the other hand was watching his boyfriend, and waiting for the man to ask for some help. He, himself, wasn’t as susceptible to getting burned as easily and he preferred to have some color...even if he did get a little burned. Perhaps he’d apply some sunscreen later. As he glanced out at the water, he removed his shirt.

“It’s such a great day for this!” he said, as he removed his sandals and tossed his shirt near them. “Don’t forget to leave your phone in a safe place, Peter…” he teased with a wink. He turned his attention to Lucy, “Make sure you keep your phone away from that one.” He nodded towards his significant other before laughing.

Lucy had been glad she’d been able to join them for the beach day, she hadn’t managed to spend much time there since arriving and it would be nice to get some relaxation time. She loved her new job but it was more time consuming that The Pie Hole had been, thankfully though she got along with Harry really well. She laughed at Caspian and her brother, “I’ll be sure to keep it far away” she grinned, but before she could say anything more a new voice joined them.

“See, Peter is putting on sun cream” Will said looking over at Jem, “You’re too pale not to use it as well” he moved his attention from Jem to the small group who had turned to look at the voice. He gave a little wave, “Great day for it. Alright Peter” he nodded, “This must be Caspian - heard a lot about you” he grinned and shook his hand then turned to Lucy, “And this must be the younger sister, if you need a little sun cream too just let me know. I’d be happy to help while I’m sorting out this one” he indicated Jem while flirting outrageously as Will always did.

Peter quirked a brow at Caspian and shook his head, “I’m fairly certain it’s the other way around. Keep your phone safe from that one or you’ll find it’s been drowned.” He held out the bottle of sunscreen to his boyfriend, “Now make yourself useful and put some on my back.” He glanced up upon hearing the new voices as well and waved Will and his friend over. “It certainly is. Best day for this, I think.”

“Of course I’ll wear it. I’m not too keen on getting a sunburn,” Jem said, shaking his head at Will, a smirk upon his lips as they approached Will’s friend’s group, “It’s too bad there isn’t a sun protection Rune.” Jem had recently received his Stele, but hadn’t actually applied any new Runes to his body aside from the ones one his arms that had appeared as a result of the dreams earlier.

As requested, Caspian began to help Peter apply some sunblock to his back. “You seem to still be a bit touchy about your old phone...which wasn’t nearly as nice as your current phone, if I recall correctly,” he pointed out. They had matching phones and Caspian liked to have a current trendy phone.

As the other joined them, Caspian greeted both men as he finished up putting sunblock on Peter. He gave Peter a soft kiss on the cheek, “There you go...all set!” Then, he held out the lotion to the paler of the two, Jem. “Here you go…” he said with a small smile.

Will grinned as he removed the bottle from Jem’s hand when he’d taken it and ruffled his hair. “Shirt off and sit” he instructed after setting out a blanket on the soft sand, “So how are we all?” Will asked conversationally as he sat behind Jem to rub suncream into his back, “Thanks for the invite by the way, we got a beautiful day” he added with a grin.

Lucy watched Will with interest, he was obviously a flirt that much was true but he genuinely seemed nice and obviously cared about his friend - boyfriend? - a lot. They reminded her of Peter and Caspian actually.

Peter thanked Caspian and smiled as he was kissed on the cheek, “It’s good to see you, Will.” He gestured towards Caspian who was holding the bottle out to Jem and then to Lucy, “This is Caspian and my sister, Lucy.” They had talked briefly, the first time they’d met about how they both had younger sisters, “You’re quite welcome. I’m glad you could both join us.”

Jem hadn’t had the bottle of sunscreen in his hand long before Will took it and commanded him to remove his shirt, which he did so Will could apply it. Before he’d gotten ill as a result of the dreams, Jem’s skin had been lightly tanned, but now it was much paler because of the Yin Fen just like his eyes and hair. His hair at least was dyed to cover the silver strands that had begun to come through.

Caspian gave a smile and friendly nod to the men as he was introduced. “Nice to meet the two of you,” he added as he stood up. He couldn’t help but notice the interaction between the two newcomers. It was interesting and cute, to say the least. He, too, was thinking of the similarities between them and him and Peter. Still, he did his best to not focus on them and held his hand out to Peter to help him to his feet. “Well, come on, then...perhaps this time you can manage to toss me into the water,” he teased. “You coming, Lucy?”

Lucy looked over from where she’d been watching Will and Jem with a smile, “Sure. I have to see who wins this” she grinned standing and removing her sarong before following her brother and his boyfriend to the waters edge.

Will laughed as he watched, “Reckon you could chuck me in there?” he asked with an amused tone as he took hold of one of Jem’s arms to cover it with suncream, already having done his back and neck. There was no hesitation or roughness in his touch and he seemed to be perfectly at ease.

“Oh, you don’t think I can?” Peter said as they headed towards the water, “You are quite skinny, Caspian. Throwing you would be extremely easy.” He smirked at his boyfriend then glanced behind them to see Lucy following them and Will and Jem still back with all their things. He was sure they’d catch up once they were finished applying sunscreen.

Jem thought about that for a moment as he watched Will’s hands moving over his arm, “A few months ago, I would have said no. Now, however, I think I could.” Jem was stronger than he had been before the dreams. He might have had to be careful with how much he exerted himself, but he could still lift quite a lot more than he used to be able to.

Lucy laughed, “You know you’ll both end up throwing each other in there” she told them, rather looking forward to watching the struggle before they both ended up in the water.

Will instructed Jem to close his eyes so he could apply the sunscreen to his face, “Alright then, let’s find out shall we?” he said when he was done, a grin gracing his features.

Lucy was correct and technically, Peter did need to get his ‘revenge’ for the last time. However, Caspian would still put up a fight. “You know, Lucy, after we throw each other, you will probably be next...no one is safe,” he teased as he playfully shoved Peter. “You did make sure to leave your phone behind, right?” Not that it would matter as Caspian had gotten insurance on Peter’s new phone.

Caspian took a moment to watch the other two guys. It was really endearing how Will seemed so protective. “Young love” was always refreshing for Caspian.

If Jem knew what everyone was thinking about him and Will, he probably would have turned bright red. He may have had feelings for Will, but as far as Will was concerned, they were just friends. Parabatai. Nothing more. “Yes, lets. Just don’t whine when I drown you.”

Peter shoved Caspian back, “You’re such a berk, you know that.” He smirked, affectionately at Caspian and shoved him a little harder as they reached the water then glanced at Lucy, “He’s right. You’re next.” It wouldn’t be the first time Lucy had gotten tossed into a body of water by one of her brothers.

“Only if you two don’t drown each other first” Lucy replied with a laugh, turning to glance behind her she noticed Will was now dragging Jem across the sand towards the water.

“Come on” Will said, taking Jem’s hand without thought, “We’ll miss all the fun” he grinned as he tugged Jem along with him, ignoring how the warm weight of his hand felt nice.

Caspian had no problem getting wet, or getting dunked. He was just glad to be having a fun day at the beach. So, he began to lightly wrestle with Peter as they drew ever closer to the water. “If you help me, Lucy...I’ll keep Peter from going after you,” he called out, laughing out loud. Sure, it was ‘cheap’ of him to enlist her help but he was curious if she’d get involved. Perhaps after they were all done, they could go after Will and Jem.

“Oh we won’t. I’ll be sure of it.” Peter said as he continued to wrestle with Caspian, trying to push his boyfriend under the water first, “And that’s not fair. You can’t enlist help.” He started tickling Caspian’s ribs on one side, attempting to get him off his guard.

Will’s hand in his caused Jem to flush once again, but he didn’t try to remove his hand from his Parabatai’s, “You don’t need to drag me. I’ve already come out here willingly. I can’t refuse now.” As they stepped into the water, Jem felt a slight chill, but the deeper they went in, the more he adjusted to it and once they’d reached the others, he wasn’t quite as cold any longer.

Lucy loved her brother dearly but when Caspian offered a team up she decided that might be the better option. So while Peter was busy trying to tickle his boyfriend Lucy entered the water and began approaching him from behind, hoping to catch him before he noticed her.

“Sorry” Will said instantly dropping Jem’s hand, realising he must have made his friend feel uncomfortable though Jem was too sweet to say anything directly. “Bloody hell it’s cold” he commented as they came close to the others, “Come on now haven’t you two dunked each other yet” he added calling out teasingly.

Caspian gave a few laughs, as Peter’s hands ran over his ticklish spots. “You know, Peter...I think that you are cheating,” he stated, making sure to focus on Peter and not Lucy who was nearing them. He grabbed both of Peter’s wrists to stop the ‘tickle’ assault as he heard Will. “You’d better watch what you say...you’re probably gonna be next,” he answered, still ‘fighting’ with Peter.

As Will released his hand, Jem tried not to look as disappointed as he felt. He didn’t want Will to ask him what was wrong, because he certainly couldn’t tell him that he’d liked holding Will’s hand. That would just make things awkward. Instead, Jem simply followed Will until they reached the others. He didn’t speak, simply watching the other two men wrestling while the girl crept up behind them.

Peter hadn’t expected Caspian to restrain his wrists and tried to pull them free, “Now who’s cheating?” He glanced over Caspian’s shoulder as he twisted in his boyfriend’s grasp and spotted Lucy, “Two against one? I’m not entirely sure that’s in the rules.” He smirked then twisted so he could get one foot behind one of Caspian’s and awkwardly pulled his foot forward once it was hooked around his boyfriend’s.

“Ha!” Will called, “You’ll never beat us, Jem and me, we’re the best team there is” he added cockily, shooting a grin at his parabatai. “Right?” he said, dropping a hand to Jem’s shoulder.

Lucy held her hands up like she was innocent, “Nothing to see here” she said before moving to one side more so she could try and pounce on her brother while he was trying to take down Caspian.

“I don’t cheat,” Caspian stated, “I simply use all my available resources.” He gave Peter a big grin before his foot was pulled forward, causing him to become off balance, but not enough to fall into the water. “And who said there were rules?” he asked, smirking at Lucy’s reaction. Having his foot hooked with Peter’s, Caspian decided that he would try and pull back, like Peter had done to him.

“I might believe that if I didn’t know you as well I do,” If Peter was going down, he was taking Caspian with him so when he felt his foot being pulled back, he held onto whatever he could reach of Caspian’s and took him with him as he fell under the water.

Jem watched Will and Caspian then glanced back at Will, “Of course, we‘ve mostly only gone up against demons who we needed to kill and not humans.” And sparring with each other was much different than fighting demons.

Lucy laughed as both her brother and Caspian disappeared under the water, then she made her way towards Will and Jem. If she was the next target she wasn’t above using their new friends to protect her. She had a feeling they might.

“Doesn’t that just mean this should be much easier for us?” Will said with a grin, hooking his arm around Jem’s shoulders, “You need to have a little faith in us” he grinned, before nodding his head in Lucy’s direction, “I think we might be about to be engaged in protecting a damsel in distress” he winked with a grin.

Caspian came up and shook his head, wiping his eyes in the process before laughing. It certainly was a quick way to get used to the water temperature and when he was able to see correctly again, he noticed that Lucy was far from them. “Why are you all the way over there?” he called out, as he glanced back to Peter.

Peter whipped his head around as he emerged from under the water, droplets of water flying off the ends of his hair as he looked in the direction Caspian was focused on, "She's afraid we're going to dunk her next." Peter loved his sister, but he was not above dunking her in the water.

"I'm fairly certain that saving damsels is your department. And at least she doesn't have a vase." Yes, Jem knew all about the first time Will and Tessa had met in the dreams. He wasn't going to let that one rest any time soon.

“No I know you’re going to try and dunk me and I’m hoping to be saved by the lovebirds over there” Lucy replied still moving towards Will and Jem and away from her brother and Caspian.

“Hey” Will protested to Jem, “That was one time and besides I did end up saving her. She totally swoons even if she won’t admit it” he grinned before tugging him towards the others.

“What makes you think that they aren’t above dunking you?” Caspian called out, walking towards the trio but not intending to dunk Lucy. Maybe he’d get around to it but he was just having fun as it was. “They could be just as devious as Peter and I,” he added. He noted that Lucy called them ‘lovebirds’ but he didn’t know if he should say more. They did act like a couple and the way they were keeping to themselves didn’t help that assumption. “Remember, Peter and I look like an innocent couple too…”

"Speak for yourself," Peter said as he moved along with the waves, "Ask anyone and they will tell you that I'm the more innocent one of the two of us." Whether he actually was or not, that was how Peter appeared. Caspian on the other hand always looked like he was planning something devious.

Either Will hadn't heard what Lucy had said or what Caspian was implying or he was simply going with it for whatever reason, but Jem couldn't help but shake his head, "We're not....I mean....Will and I are just friends." He could feel his cheeks flushing once again.

Lucy laughed, “I’m planning on using my cute little sister look” she answered, not really thinking anything about calling them lovebirds. She was so used to Peter and Caspian that seeing Will and Jem she just thought they were similar.

“I’m totally the devious one” Will said before catching on to what both Lucy and Jem said, “Huh? Oh no not like that” he said easily shrugging it off.

That was somewhat surprising to hear. The two just acted like a couple and it just seemed so likely that they were dating. “Oh, well...our mistake, I suppose...you two just act like a you are involved,” Caspian pointed out, rubbing the back of his neck.

Peter glanced between Caspian and Lucy and Jem and Will, realizing that this had the potential to turn awkward really fast and that was the last thing that he wanted for anyone. “We went to an all boys boarding school.” He said, indicating himself and Caspian, “You’d be surprised how close two guys can actually be without actually being in a relationship. We’re an exception of course.” As he spoke, he hoped that it was helping to make the situation a little less awkward.

As Peter spoke, Jem felt a little less awkward and was able to let out the breath that he had been holding and nodded in response, “That makes sense.” Even if it weren’t for his feelings for Will, the two of them would still be quite close simply because they were Parabatai. “Now that we’ve got that out of the way,” He glanced at Will, “Someone needs to be dunked.”
