Who: Coulson & Pepper Potts
Where: Stark Industries
When: October 26
What: Coulson is looking for Stark and is determined to get some answers
Rating: Low
Status: Complete
Coulson was going to do something about this. He wanted answers. He had let Stark’s behaviour go when they had first met but something about it made him come back to get some answers from the billionaire. He wasn’t sure how successful he would be, he knew Stark was excellent at avoiding questions that he didn’t want to answer but then Coulson had years of working for the FBI which had made him more than adept at gaining information from people who refused to give any up. Either way he was sure it would be an interesting conversation to have. Of course there was the fact that he had had a couple of dreams now but he wasn’t going to mention that to Stark just yet. Dressed neatly in one of his regular suits (some of his co-workers back home liked to joke that he slept in it as they never saw him without it though that wasn’t the case), he approached the reception desk and asked if it was possible to see Stark. Pepper was just entering the building after a meeting at another office and heard a somewhat familiar voice asking for Tony and getting the usual excuses when somebody called who didn’t have an appointment. Moving closer she realised the man was familiar but only from her dreams. “Mr Coulson?” she said as she approached, smiling and giving a brief shake of her head at the receptionist to indicate she would handle this. “I’m Pepper Potts, can I help you?” Coulson couldn’t help but let a warm smile grace his face as Pepper approached him. Out of the people he had dreamed about, he had a feeling that they were good friends. “A pleasure to meet you,” he told her and it was. It was one thing to dream about a person and another thing to see them. He was starting to realize why Tony might have hugged him though from what he had seen there was nothing to indicate that they were friends in the dream world. “I was wondering if I could speak to Mr Stark if possible,” he informed her. ‘I do understand he’s rather busy so I understand if that isn’t possible though,” he informed her politely. He wasn’t going to force his way in especially when he came by unannounced. Pepper never mentioned the dreams on a first meeting, unless the other person did. She found it unnerved people especially if they hadn’t dreamed anything yet. She remembered Tony mentioning him but Phil hadn’t yet had any dreams so she was unsure if that had changed. “It’s nice to meet you too” she replied kindly. “I’m afraid Tony truly isn’t available today, I can set you up an appointment for later in the week though unless I could be of assistance?” she offered, “I’m certainly happy to try” Phil nodded, he didn’t find that unsurprising given that he had turned up unannounced and Tony Stark was surely a fairly busy man. A part of him had wondered if his name would get him in to see him but he didn't have much hope in that apartment and it was proved true with what Pepper said. “I was just wanting to ask him a few questions about what he mentioned when we met the other day so it is nothing pressing. “ Tony honestly wasn’t around otherwise Pepper would have happily let Phil see him, any other day and Tony would have been in his lab but Pepper had insisted he attend board meetings in the city at least once a year and she’d convinced him to go to the one today. “Well I can let him know you called by and we can set an appointment up now if you like?” she offered, pulling out her tablet. “Of course, that is more than fine with me,” he said with a nod. “I’m available most of the time so whenever it suits him that would be acceptable,” he told Pepper with a smile. She was glad to have met Pepper properly even if it wasn’t properly. “I’ll pencil you in for Thursday then, I’ll send you a confirmation email and reception will know to expect you” she informed him returning the smile. “Of course, what time on Thursday was that?” he asked pulling out his own dairy to make a note of it. Of course an email would be useful too but he was old fashioned and did like to use a dairy for his schedule. “Thank you for your help,” he told her giving her a smile. “I appreciate it.” “Two pm” Pepper said, waiting for a moment to make sure he had nothing clashing with that allocated slot. “Tony works best seeing people after lunch” she told him, mostly because it meant she would make him have lunch and pull his attention away from the project he was working on. “You’re more than welcome, it’s what I’m here for” “Sounds good,” he said pencilling it in. “I understand that. I find a lot of people work better after then Or first thing in the morning but very few people want to have meetings then.” Food made people concentrate better, stopped their mind from roaming. That and caffeine. Together it was even better in a lot of ways. “Still I appreciate it. Should I come straight up or let her know?” he said indicating the receptionist with a nod of his head. “I find mornings work for me” Pepper agreed, “But I wouldn’t inflict Tony on anybody in the morning, especially if he’s been working most of the night” Which he didn’t do as often now she realised, especially since they’d moved in together. “Best to let her know, just so she doesn’t accidentally alert security” “I understand that, I like them myself,” he admitted with a nod. “Plus I can get a lot more done without the fear of unnecessary interruptions.” He had a feeling that Pepper would understand that. “Of course, I can do that. I should be off though so I don’t keep you from your work. I have a feeling you have a lot to do,” he said simply. “Exactly” Pepper definitely understood that, she was pretty much the same. “I am kept fairly busy” she admitted with a smile, “But it was nice to meet you and I look forward to seeing you again” she told him honestly. “As do I and thank you once again for your help,” Coulson said with a nod of his head before leaving, allowing Pepper to get back to any work that she had to do. |
