"You mean beyond the fact Derek has given at least two conflicting responses to the same issue, so one is a lie? I should have known it was me. He keeps telling Lydia and me to give his asshole boyfriend a chance and that he means well when he upsets us. He has his back and not his family's. That's what's going on."
And given their family? That was a lot. She already hadn't been knowing what to think or feel because of someone she trusted saying the things Stiles had, but to add Derek into the equation? There had been too many questions and they'd been driving her mad. Thinking, dreaming, nothing worked out and she was always on edge because of it. Knowing she was the one Derek lied to? It solidified what she had already known subconsciously.
"I get the why. But that doesn't make it okay. I get being wary because there are people who if they showed up, I'd be suspicious of but I wouldn't just...." She wouldn't write them off and she wouldn't decide that everyone had to be wary just in case. She'd pay attention to what they did, see how they reacted and then decide. Admittedly it was also the first time she acknowledged that she was still alive, and not dead in the Dreams. But that wasn't the issue. It was Derek lying to her. It was realizing he'd sooner pick Stiles over his own family.
"That doesn't surprised me." Of course Lydia would tell Peter about someone passing the Hook test. It happened so rarely... and given how Lydia had been all for Stiles before he went complete asshole on them and obsessive about Peter's horribleness in the Dreams and his conviction that they were idiots for trusting him... Well, that changed a lot of things. She at least was past confused and uncertain and mostly in anger mode now. The fact he was with Derek just made it worse because Derek knew. And Derek still sided with Stiles. She should have known from that point that in a choice between them, he'd go with her classmate.
Letting herself be hugged, she just closed her eyes and nodded against her uncle. It wasn't often she let someone hug her, but after everything that had gone on, she needed it. Maybe he did as well. Maybe he needed to know he wasn't that person even if the Dreams were hard to shake.
"It is."
And that was when the comment about Stiles sounding like someone he had spoken to recently registered. She tended to follow conversations from her family and Stiles to make sure he wasn't trying to turn more people against her uncle and there was no conversation that she could think of with Peter that would have sounded like Stiles...
"What?"
Pulling away, she scanned the apartment and found the iPad, the conversation pulled up. He may have tried to keep it from them (and she could see why given the conversation), but she saw red at the conversation he'd had with Stiles.
"I should have fucking punched him when I ran into him the first day of class! What the hell!?"
