It hadn’t even been a moment since he there was a jolt to his body. He didn’t know that he was meant to stay on the slab. The moment that his eyes had opened he was up onto his feet and moving about the room. The entire room was filled with darkness. There was only a bit of light coming from out of the windows. Looking around he could see something running down the clear walls above his head. He could think of the words of how to describe it. It was there, he could feel it there but he couldn’t form the words in his mind. Just as he could he the sound of it hitting something solid above him. It would almost be soothing if he could clear his mind for moment. It felt like all of his senses were on overdrive and he couldn’t make sense of any of it. Everything snapped towards a light at the other side of the room. There was a person, he thought that he remembered that face from when he jolted up from the slab. Slowly he walked over. He didn’t want to harm the person. He wasn’t sure what was happening. It was like he was seeing everything for the first time. He didn’t get too close to the person in the room with him. He simply stepped towards him, looking curiously as the man looked back at him. He felt as if his emotion was being reflected in the other man’s face. A mixture of emotions that he couldn’t find the words to describe. The light shone on him and revealed horrible sutures all over his body. Outside of his dream Proteus shook in the bed but didn’t rouse. The other man took him back to the slab that he had woken from and sat him down. He was left there for a moment, in the dark. It was as if his whole world was ending and he was all alone. Then a moment later the man and the light returned. Although he didn’t just return with the light. There was a bowl and a rag. The other man dipped a tip of the rag into the bowl and slowly reached it together him. Proteus’ body shook as the cool rag touched his skin. It took about an hour for the other man to pull the rag away for good. There was no longer red over his pale skin. That was when the man picked up a long length of cloth then noise started coming from the other man’s face. Proteus reached for the man’s face but was gently stopped by the other’s hand. A small smile was flashed at him. Instead of continuing to talk the other man started showing Proteus what to do with the cloth. He was to put it on his legs. With some help he was able to get the clothes on so he wasn’t standing there in only his skin. As the new pants he put on were buttoned up Proteus eyes fluttered open. He blinked a few times and looked up towards his ceiling. He was trying to process what he just dreamt about. What the hell happened to him in the dreams? That wasn’t some kind of accident like he thought it was. It was something more. He didn’t know if he wanted it to be more. He didn’t want it to be… supernatural. He wanted something normal, more normal to happen to him. He was already having a hard time with the first dream. With this one he didn’t even want to close his eyes to go to sleep again. He didn’t want to know where these dreams were going to lead him. He sighed lightly. With that he reached over to the nightstand and turned on his radio. He still didn’t feel like sleeping but he felt like a little music would help him drift off. He had work in the morning and he wouldn’t pull his stunt right now. He had been pulling extra hours to help Audrey out a little bit. Not knowing the length of time his eyes slowly started to close. |
