The move from her apartment to the condo had gone a lot easier than her initial move into the apartment, because this time Lexi had had help from her friends. When she had first moved after the breakup with her boyfriend, she hadn’t told anyone for a little while, so that meant she’d made the whole move on her own with the exception of a little help from her brother, which she’d appreciated quite a lot. She’d gotten her brother to once again help with the move from the apartment, but this time he hadn’t had to do as much since everyone knew this move was coming up. Now, a few days after her, Caroline and Katherine had officially moved in, Lexi was sitting on the kitchen counter as she took plates out of a box from her old apartment and put them in the cabinet. She’d spent the morning lining the cabinets with a cute pattern that the three girls had picked out together and now it was time to actually fill the cabinets and drawers.
“We should get another set of plates and bowls cause I don’t think mine are gonna go very far if we have a lot of people over.” Lexi’s set had been fine for just her and a handful of friends, if she’d had people over, but three of them combined had quite a few friends.
The move to her new condo had been pretty easy. At least for Caroline, since she lived with her mother before the only thing she really had to pack up was her room and bathroom. Packing everything up hadn’t taken her too long, except for the fact that she had to sort through all the things she didn’t need anymore and had for pretty much no reason. Moving day had actually been fun too. Her friends had helped out, even Nik, who she had pretty much only met a few weeks ago. It definitely made transporting and unpacking things go a whole lot faster. Now Caroline pretty much had her whole room done, it was time to start helping out with the rest of the condo.
She was in the middle of sorting through some silverware when she heard Lexi say something. “You’re probably right” Caroline felt kind of bad that she didn’t have any bowls, plates, or utensils of her own to bring, they were all her moms. “Just with all the people that helped us move, that was already like what five extra people or so? And those were just our close friends.”
Lexi nodded as she finished placing the plates in the cabinet and started unwrapping the bowls and placing them in the cabinet next to the plates, “Yeah. We should probably make it a habit of getting paper plates too, so that we’re not using all of our plates when we have people over.” There were still things that they needed to buy for the apartment, which meant that a trip to the mall was in their future and they would be able to pick out a dining set together.
“Good idea” Caroline agreed placing a handful of forks in the drawer, making sure to keep them separated from the spoons and knives. “We don’t want to have to be constantly washing dishes.” That would so not be fun. “We do have some pretty great friends though. It was nice how they all helped out. Especially Nik, I mean I just met him and he offered to help. He doesn’t seem at all like the dreams” Caroline couldn’t help but state, especially since it seemed like Lexi already knew him pretty well.
Lexi’s brow rose slightly at the mention of Klaus. She found it interesting that out of everyone who had helped them, Caroline would specifically mention Klaus, “Yeah, Klaus is a pretty good guy.” While Lexi had certainly heard about Klaus, in the dreams, she had never met him. The only Original she had ever met was Elijah when he had turned her. “I never met him in the dreams, but I’ve heard stories.” She finished putting the bowls away then hopped off the counter and took the empty box down, took it apart and laid it on the floor before turning to see what else needed to be unpacked.
Good guy and Klaus were not exactly words Caroline would ever hear together. Especially from people from her dream world. “He tried to kill me once, kind of” she shrugged obviously referring to the dreams. “But he’s done worse to lots of other people” she added sorting through the rest of the silverware and placing it in the drawer. “He’s definitely a lot different here. Although he does draw in both places” she wasn’t sure if Lexi wanted to hear more about dream Klaus so she left it at that moving on to a box of pots and pans.
“Dream Klaus sounds like an ass. Good thing he’s not like that here.” Lexi opened a box that had some boxed food from her old apartment and she began taking it out and placing it on the table so she could figure out which cabinets to put them in, “He made Stefan all Rippery again so I ended up coming back as a ghost to try and kick his ass back into shape. Stefan’s, not Klaus’. Although, they both have rather attractive asses,” She smirked a little as she added the last part.
“Oh yeah. I remember that” of course Caroline hadn’t actually seen it first hand, but she remembered Elena telling her about it. Caroline had been busy with Bonnie trying to figure out a way to send the ghosts back. “I never really noticed” she replied with a laugh, even though her face had reddened a bit. It was true, she hadn’t noticed Stefan’s, but she had most definitely noticed Nik’s. Not that she would ever admit it. “So what should we do with these pans? Get one of those hanging things? Or put them in a drawer?”
“Well, being bffs with Stefan my whole life, it’s inevitable that I’d see him naked.” Lexi said as she took a few cans over to another cabinet and set them on the counter beneath it, “And I wasn’t that drunk that I couldn’t appreciate Klaus’ that time,” Lexi had never been one to be ashamed of her sex life or try and censor herself with the exception of Klaus around Stefan or Rebekah.
Turning at Caroline’s question, she scanned the kitchen for a moment, “One of those hanging things might be cool. We should ask the landlord if we can hang one.”
Whoa what? Lexi and Klaus. That was new information. Not that she thought she knew everything about either of them, but still. “So you and Nik...?” she asked her voice trailed off. She already pretty much knew the answer, there was no real reason to ask.
“Right? i’ve always wanted one of those” Caroline agreed. “So should we just keep them boxed up for now?”
Lexi smirked a little as she glanced back at Caroline, “Yeah. Once. A couple of years ago.” She placed her hands, behind her, on the countertop and leaned back a little, “We were at a party that Stefan made us both go to. We were drinking and one thing led to another.” She waggled her eyebrows, “But it was just that one time. We’re both Stefan’s best friends, so we didn’t want things to get messy and have Stefan stuck in the middle.”
“At least you got to have some fun” Caroline replied with a bit of a laugh trying to hide the fact that she was jealous. She had no right to be anyways. Nik was just her friend after all. “Do you think something will happen with the two of you now?” she couldn’t help but ask.
Lexi shook her head, “No. I mean, he’s Stefan’s other bff and Rebekah’s brother. It’s feel weird now. Dating any of Rebekah’s brothers would feel weird now.” She may not have known all of Rebekah’s brothers as well as she knew Klaus or Kol, but dating any of them just felt like it’d be strange. “We’re better as friends anyway.”
“Good point” Caroline agreed. She wasn’t about to encourage Nik and Lexi. “Plus the whole, turning into a vampire thing, it makes dating difficult” not that Caroline dated anyways, but knowing she could turn into a vampire at any moment, why would she want to put someone else through that? Lexi already had compulsion so she probably knew that feeling too.
Lexi nodded, “Yup. Hence part of the reason me and my ex broke up.” After three years things hadn’t really been progressing with Lexi and her ex and considering he wasn’t a dreamer, it only made sense to cut him loose before she turned into a vampire. Once she turned and had everything under control, she could think about dating a regular guy again, but for now, she had a feeling it might be better to look into the guys on Valarnet. However, that didn’t include Klaus cause that’d just be awkward now.
“I don’t think I even ever met him” it was weird that her and Lexi hadn’t really gotten close until Caroline came back from San Francisco. Back in high school she had been too busy with cheering and planning dances and all that to really have a social life outside of school. “But yeah, the whole vampire thing, it just makes everything more complicated. And it’s like even if I want to just ignore it or deny that it is going to happen I also have to prepare for it, you know? Just to be safe.”
“Don’t worry, you weren’t missing anything,” Lexi smirked a little. While she had loved her ex, they’d been mostly opposites, which was one reason their relationship hadn’t gone anywhere after three years. “Oh, speaking of being prepared, you have a daylight ring, right?” Since she’d met Merlin, things had happened so fast with the move and other OC things that she hadn’t really had a chance to ask Elena if she could borrow her ring for the wizard to take a look at so he could make her some daylight jewelry, but now that her and Caroline lived together, it would be much easier to borrow hers.
“Yeah I do” Caroline replied her eyes immediately going to her finger. She hadn’t taken it off since she got it, just in case. Even though she hated thinking about that. “Why? Did you get one?” she knew Lexi didn’t really have one in the dreams, but she was pretty sure she had mentioned something to Caroline about one being made for her.
Lexi shook her head, “No, but I met a wizard, The Merlin, and he offered to make me some daylight jewelry when I told him about my dreams. Only thing is, he needs to see one in order to duplicate the spell.” Lexi knew that witches in their dream world were the ones who were able to make the daylight jewelry, but Merlin was greatest wizard in history. “So, I was wondering if I could borrow it for a few hours. Just long enough for him to study the spell.”
Caroline really had no idea who Merlin was, but if he could help Lexi out she had no problem with that. Of course it made her a little nervous parting with her ring, but she would be fine. Besides Lexi deserved to have one too and Caroline wanted to help her friend. “Yeah I think that would be okay. We should probably do it soon though. Like tomorrow maybe? Just in case” she was referring to the both of them. Who knew when either of them would turn.
Lexi nodded, “Yeah, I’ll let text Merlin and see if he’s available tomorrow,” She hoped that he was, because there was no way of knowing when either of them would turn and they would both need daylight jewelry asap. So, the quicker that he could make some for Lexi, the sooner she could get Caroline’s ring back to her. “Thanks, Care.”
“Of course” Caroline replied with a smile. She was always the type that would do pretty much anything for her friends. That wasn’t changing anytime soon.
