Elizabeth wasn’t quite sure what to make of the merry hell the OC had decided to rain on them this week. She wasn’t happy, there was a strange woman in the house who seemingly shared an inexplicable bond with the man she loved. Leonard had tried to explain it to her in brief but she still wasn’t happy about it. How dare this woman randomly wake up in her house and create an attachment to her lover.
Smiling politely at the woman as she made herself breakfast, she took Leonard’s elbow and guided him out of the kitchen and into their bedroom to talk.
“Leonard, I’m not happy about that woman being in our home,” she told him after shutting the bedroom door. “Shouldn’t we call the police?”
“No.” McCoy responded. “She’s fine. It’s happened before.” Tara, the TARDIS, had shown up randomly in McCoy’s living room. He’d made her a sandwich. It was just the way that Orange County works. “Besides, I don’t want Joanna to be afraid. This County is weird, but that doesn’t mean it’s dangerous.”
“But how did she get here? The house was locked up last night, I checked,” Elizabeth stressed, wrapping her dressing gown more around herself and folding her arms. “She could be anyone,” she shook her head.
“Did you check Valarnet?” McCoy asked. He drew out his phone and unlocked the screen to show her what he’d been researching. “She’s not the only person who’s shown up randomly in someone’s house. Actually, we should be lucky she didn’t show up between us. Or under a bed, or something.”
Elizabeth blushed a little at the idea of the woman appearing between them. Elizabeth generally slept in very little, if not nothing, so that would have been incredibly awkward. Still, the thought of this pretty, young thing waking up with her hands on Leonard made a fire stir deep in her stomach. She hadn’t realised quite how irrationally she had been acting until that moment. “Fine...but I still don’t like it,” she all but pouted in front of him. This woman would have to be with Leonard all day from the look of what people were saying online and that wasn’t even something Elizabeth got to do. She trusted Leonard, heart and soul, but she didn’t trust this woman. Leonard was hers! ...and Joanna’s obviously. It was ridiculous really, a world renowned diplomat known for keeping a level head and she was jealous of a woman they’d both just met.
“It’s going to be fine. Don’t be silly.” McCoy said. He stepped forward and wrapped an arm around her, pressing his lips to her forehead. “Now go have a shower and start your day. I’ll be home at six.”
She clutched her fingers into the front of his shirt when he stepped closer to her. Closing her eyes and taking a deep breath as he pressed his lips to her forehead, she reminded herself that this sort of thing happened all the time in the OC and they should be used to it now. “I love you,” she told him quietly, leaning back just a little to gaze up at him. “You know that, right?”
“I know.” He said softly. “I love you, too.” He lowered his lips to meet hers. Gentle and quick. “I’ll see you tonight.”
Elizabeth pulled him back down for a more convincing kiss, stepping back only when they needed to breathe. "Pouncing you at work will have to wait," she winked at him with a cheeky grin before turning to pick up some towels and head for the bathroom.
McCoy gave a little chuckle, watching her go. Then he turned back to the kitchen where Joanna and Ruby were finishing breakfast. “All right. Time to go to school.”
