Mercy left her shop, checked her email, sighed since there was nothing there, and headed over to grab some of her favorite sandwiches, then she headed over to Tink’s shop. Mechanic friends for the win. Mercy had a lot of random things going on, she’d joined Torchwood, she’d got a new power, and well things were just weird. She needed a day off. So, she decided to see how Tink was. She parked outside and headed in, first peeking in the front office for the woman. She carried the sandwiches in a paper bag, and grinned, calling out. “Lunch Delivery!” she grinned a bit as she looked around.
Tink came out from under the desk in the office. She’d been setting up the new scanner. She was going to take the Garage into the digital age, whether the Old Man who owned the place wanted her to or not. That meant scanning in some of the old receipts and order forms so she could finally get rid of them.
She broke into a smile at the sight of her friend. “Hey! Did we have plans for lunch today?” She couldn’t remember. Tink’s head had been occupied a lot recently. But a certain son of Rumpelstiltskin.
"Nope but I didn't feel like sitting in the shop today when my employee has it covered." She'd set the bag down and grin. "Figured I'd pop by, say hi, and bring some lunch."
Mercy thought Tink seemed like the kind of person to forget to eat somedays. She grinned a bit at her, though.
“Hey, I can’t say no to lunch with a friend,” Tink said nodding. She dusted her hands off on her coveralls, and moved around the desk to join Mercy in the waiting area. There was a comfy sofa and a couple of nice chairs, a coffee table, and a tv on the wall.
“How’ve you been?” Tink added, then made grabby fingers at the bag of sandwiches.
Mercy held them up, teasing her for a moment before handing over the bag. “There’s two for each.” she smiled and plunked down on the sofa. “Oh well, boots off, I can walk straight again, which is nice.” she kicked back a bit.
“Working. Working. oh and I joined Torchwood, that was fun. And I can turn into a coyote, thanks to the dreams, so it’s been interesting. You?” she grabbed for a sandwich before they were all snagged.
“Two sandwiches?” Tink asked, eyes going wide. She wasn’t sure she could eat that much. But she could absolutely try. There weren’t any scheduled maintenance visits this afternoon, so she could have a siesta after lunch.
“Awesome.” She sat down and started unwrapping lunch, listening to Mercy talk about her new job. “...wait, you can turn into a coyote??”
“Didn’t know how much you ate. I eat like a pig at work.” she grinned. “Save one for later.” she shrugged a bit as she leaned back in the seat. “Mechanic, Torchwood and Coyote. I swear it’s an interesting life.” she laughed softly. “I like being busy, I guess.”
“You wanna see?” she grinned a bit. “I’m actually loving showing off. It’s so nifty.” she smiled again.
“I’ve got a fridge.” Tink said. She could normally pack it away, but lately her tummy had been so full of butterflies, she wasn’t sure two sandwiches would sit well.
“Yeah! Of course I do!” Tink responded, grinning brightly. Hey, at least she wasn’t the only one who had physical changes from the Dreams. This was fantastic.
“See, no point in wasting sandwiches, can always eat one later!” she was cheerful. Which was nice, Mercy hadn’t felt cheerful. Well not until she’d met the Weevil. That had been fun.
She grinned, took a bite of her sandwich, and set it down. “Bathroom? I uh, sort of have to strip unless you want to help me get unstuck” she laughed .Once pointed in the direction she’d slip in, strip, and peek out so Tink could see the whole thing start to finish. She’d go between a blink of an eye from Human to Coyote - normal sized, normal coloring, but she wagged her tail as she padded over to Tink and sat down, giving her a canine grin.
“Oh, right. Clothes. I imagine coyotes don’t wear those.” Tink motioned toward the bathroom with a grin, then took another bite of her sandwich. When Mercy came out as a coyote, Tink jumped up. “Holy cow.” She said, a little startled, even though she’d seen the whole thing. “...wow.” Tink sat, too, and fought the urge to lift a hand and let Mercy sniff it. That’s what one did with dogs and dog-like creatures, right? “...is that really you in there?”
Mercy let out a little yip of agreement, tail thumping lightly on the floor. After a minute she’d pad back to the bathroom, change back and pull her clothes back on, she was tugging a boot on when she hopped out to the waiting room to sit back down. Now she was starving. “Cool right? It’s handy, I think, maybe. But yep that was me.” she grinned. “Although no extra powers to come with, just a coyote like youd see in the hills.”
“Wow.” Tink was in awe. She’d forgotten about the sandwich. “Does it hurt to transform?” She asked, staring at her friend. “...that’s amazing. I wish I could do that! All I’ve got are these wings.” And with a little shake of her shoulders, her wings popped out through slits in her coveralls. A little rain of Pixie Dust fell onto the sofa cushions around her.
“Nope not in the least. It kind of feels like a sneeze sometimes, that quick. In my dreams the werewolves dislike me for it, and a hundred other reasons, but their change is long and painful. Me? I blink and I’m a coyote.” she grinned. “Oooh those are nifty!” she leaned to get a good look at them. “Can you fly??”
God, that was awesome. Tink was totally jealous. She fluttered a bit, grinning when Mercy complimented her wings. “Yep. With a little help from my Pixie Dust.” She said, and shook again. A little more sprinkled down around her on the sofa. “...you know… happy thoughts and all that? Anyway,” she fluttered and lifted up off the sofa for a moment, showing off her wings.
“Oh that’s nifty too!” she laughed softly “flying is so cool” she nodded as she watched her friend. “That is levels of awesome. We both got awesome stuff, huh?” Mercy grinned a bit. “I’m glad I showed you.” she took a bite of her sandwich then leaned back. “How’s the shop been?”
“Hey, I’m glad. I’d much rather have some nice things than some of the other things I’ve read about. Like, people eating people and blood and gore and explosions…” Tink gave a little shudder. “Things are good. Boring. Same old same old, really. The Old Man does a fairly good job with this place. Though, I’d make a lot of changes if I had the chance.” She tucked her wings away into her coveralls and sat back down to eat some more sandwich.
“Fair enough. I’ve seen some awful powers. I’ll take fairy wings and coyote shifting over half that anyday!” she laughed softly. “Good to know. I’m glad. What would you change?” she’d ask curiously as she tucked her legs up under her.
Awful powers and traumatic experiences. Tink was happy with her wings, thankyouverymuch. She shrugged her shoulders, having just taken a huge bite of sandwich. “...I’d update everything. I mean, he’s still using punch cards and barely knows what a computer is.”
“Oh jeez.” she laughed a bit. “Yeah I can see how that’s a troublesome thing. time’s tracked on the computer at my place. I might not like computers much but I know how to use them.” she laughed a bit more than shook her head.
