Sage attracted stares as she stalked through the airport. She had a leather bag over her shoulder, sunglasses on and a form fitted business suit on. Heels clicked on the tile floor as she stalked out to where she was certain a car was waiting for her. She'd called for it the moment she landed. She ignored everyone. There was only one person she was looking forward to seeing. It'd been a few months since she'd seen him. Rarely were they were apart for that long. They'd been nearly attached at the hip growing up. Nails tapped on her phone, checking even now, her work. This move was inconvenient. But he had asked. Who was she to say no? But she'd arrive on her terms. That's why she waved off his doorman. Sage didn't need keys to the elevator. She'd already gotten herself copies. And she could guess his password in her sleep. So his elevator would ding and open. Revealing not his Rogue, but a woman that was both taller and more confident. One who'd slide her sunglasses onto her head and sigh. "Remy, what's this I hear about you running off to Vegas not two days before I get here? You didn't wait. I'm hurt." Tessa was here. **** Remy hadn’t been expecting anyone. So when the elevator dinged open and the door opened, he’d expect it was Anna. So he was in just a pair of sleeping pants (yes, he was in for the night at seven, don’t judge him, he’d had a very full last two days) and the bandages wrapped around his chest. They were fresh and the gauze over the bullet wound was stained just slightly at the center. Changing the bandages always did that. He had a toothbrush hanging out of his mouth. And he’d just stare at her. “Tessa?” He’d ask around the toothbrush. ** The bandages would earn a sigh from her. She'd set her bag down. "And the rumors from pr were true. Of course they were. I leave you alone for a few weeks and you get shot." She strode across the distance, and walked around him, giving him a stern look over. She stopped in front of him. "This is why I don't let you out of my sight." She teased in a semi serious tone, she shook her head. "Also I took an earlier flight. I got bored waiting." Rarely did she smile, but he'd get one anyways. For all her scolding, she wasn't surprised. *** It wasn’t often that Remy liked touching people, but Tessa wasn’t really a person. She was Tessa. So when she accused him of getting shot, then came forward so casually, he’d just roll his eyes and lean in to press a kiss against her cheek. “It’s good to see you too, Tess.” He didn’t even have to straighten-- her heels made them the same height. “Some crazy woman attacked me when I wouldn’t sleep with her.” He wasn’t sleeping around? Really? Really. *** She took the kiss to the cheek with Smile and a returned one. "You wouldn't sleep with her? What have I missed?".She'd ask in almost disbelief. She was worried at that. "You'll catch me up." She said lightly as she looked around the place. Tessa was patient, she'd make sure she got the whole story. She wouldn't let him sneak around it. *** “Not much to tell, really. A girl sort of.. I don’t know, put me in a relationship without consulting me. I think I sort of have a girlfriend now.” Something that Tessa well knew he had no interest in. “I don’t know what happened.” And it was getting to him. “Come on, I’ve got extra rooms.” Something she knew-- she’d found the penthouse for him, after all. *** "I'm finding it hard to believe you can't find a way out of it. There's more to this isn't there?" She just gave him an even look. "Who is she." Tessa was probably going to do her homework later on this girl. She didn't believe someone could ensnare him and he couldn't wiggle free. But she nodded. "Of course you do. Where am I staying until I find a new place?" She said with a touch of a teasing tone. It was around Remy she appeared most normal. *** “Anna Marie Avery-- and, this place is strange, Tessa. It makes you dream, or.. remember things. I don’t know and I don’t understand it, but I can remember things about her that never happened.” He sounded less like a crazy person saying it like that. “I like her. I do. But I don’t want to be her boyfriend. I don’t want.. I don’t know what I want. It’s complicated.” She would get to see him roll his eyes and he turned to put his back to her. “Just shut up.” She hadn’t said a word! “Come on.” *** Tessa listened without saying a word. "And you want me to stay here. Honestly you should come home. But you won't so we'll see what we can do about this." She wasn't used to seeing him flustered. Fascinating. "I didn't say anything." She smirked a bit then laid her hand on his shoulder. "I'm here now. Let's get sorted, then we'll figure out what's going on with this girl." Then she'd tuck hair out if her eyes. "I picked a good place for you didn't I? Its lovely." Not the sanitized decor, but she had vastly different tastes, too. Her place would end up sleek, modern and maybe livened up with some fine art. "Lead on" *** “I.. can’t.” He said after a few seconds, pausing and considering his words, then continuing on. “Yeah, it’s nice. I love the balcony and the kitchen.” She knew he loved to cook. Something he hadn’t had a chance to do much of since Anna moved in. She liked to cook, so he let her. Sure, he’d been happy with her, but he’d been just as confused and unsure about it as he had been happy. It was a strange dynamic. ** She paused then nodded as if she'd come to a conclusion. "You, my dear friend, are curious." She waved it off. "Of course you can't leave. You wouldn't pull me from my office if you weren't serious." "I'm pleased to hear that. You should when you are back to full strength, cook for me. " She knew how much he loved it. She could cook but she often chose not to. And unless someone reminded her she often skipped meals to work. *** “I could cook for you tonight.” He’d be happy to do something other than work and watch television. The drugs really made him feel pretty dizzy, he didn’t like being out and about. “And what am I curious about?” Certainly not a relationship, and definitely not this place. He just.. really didn’t want to leave. It was a strange feeling. ** “I feel like you might harbor some curiosity into these weird dreams and rememberings, possibly to deal with this girl. Although I could be wrong, but I feel it might not even be outwardly apparent. It’s a hunch.” she shrugged a touch. “I would love for you to cook for me. It has been some time since you have been able to. How are you feeling, you look good despite the bullet hole.” she grinned at him and brushed the hair out of her eyes. “This place is doing something for you, although please for my sake, do not get shot again. I will have to retaliate.” ** “I don’t dream.” He returned almost immediately. He wanted that clear. “But I do..” He trailed off though. God. How would he even explain it to her? Best not to. She didn’t need to know, right? “I can make something simple now.” He just wanted to cook. He hadn’t done it in far too long. But when she mentioned the place was doing something to him, he paused and looked back at her, frowning. “What?” Was it a bad thing? Was he getting ugly? Fat? Old? Stupid? Contented? ** "Mmm" she said giving him a look. Then a quiet smile. Go ahead. Tell her. She'll get it out of you at some point. It was Tessa, after all. "Then cook, I look forward to it." She liked his cooking. It was something she enjoyed greatly. "It appears this place suits you. You seem a bit contented here. It is a good place for you. Even if, as you say, there are interesting things afoot." She smiled, kissed his cheek then stepped to the kitchen. She was thirsty. "It is a good thing, don't look so apprehensive. You're as handsome as ever, you're certainly not gaining weight." She knew him, of course. *** “I do like living right on the beach. And the weather isn’t nearly as muggy as Louisiana.” As always, he would avoid the words ‘New Orleans’, because his accent was just too thick. He’d spent too long covering it up to just let it escape like that. “Sit. I’ll cook.” It didn’t even cross his mind to call Anna and let her know a woman was here. He didn’t really expect her to come walking back in and find Sage.. but surely that would be what happened, when she inevitably came back. The thought should have crossed his mind. ** "I know." She smiled a bit. Louisiana was muggy. But she didn't press. He'd spill whatever was on his mind for her sometime. It was how they worked after all. She fetched herself a glass of water before sitting, and carefully pulling her heels off. He should have told Anna. But the girl was giving him time, and going to hope he'd invite her back. Sage would inevitably be there, of course. It was bound to be amazing. *** |
