Who: Remus Lupin, Remy LeBeau, & Sirius Black When:Backdated: Early August Where: O’Riley’s Pub What: Remus and Remy meet, there is Cajun flirting and Sirius gets jealous Rating: PG-13 for Language Status: Complete
Remy had been having just a little trouble as of late controlling the.. things that his surfacing memories were dumping on him. But he had fortunately figured out that he could keep them both in check with a pair of gloves and a bottle of scotch.
Which was how he’d ended up here, dipping in just for a drink before he continued on home.
Never let it be said that Remy was in any way shy. He’d head to the bar, lean against the counter and order his drink with a smile and tilt of his head, then he would take it with a grin and a slide of cash across glazed wood. A quick glance around had his table picked out.
It didn’t hurt that there was a handsome man sitting there. So yes, the red-head would slide into the booth across from him and smile that smooth, charming smile. “Hello.” His scotch was slid slightly across the top of the table, gloved fingers still lightly gripping it.

Remus didn’t come to bars very often these days. In the past he might on occasion in order to not feel quite so alone, but over the last year or so, he hadn’t really felt the need. Sure, he and Sirius had come out a few times for drinks since getting back together; after all they couldn’t spend all their time in the house. They were only in their mid thirties after all. Tonight, Sirius had asked Remus to meet him after work, so Remus had headed over to the bar around the time his boyfriend would be getting out of work, knowing that it was likely that Sirius would be late for one reason or another, but he expected that sort of thing from Sirius after all these years, so it didn’t really bother him. It gave him some time to think over the new position he had just taken at UCI and how it would benefit both of them.
As usual, Remus was dressed in khakis, a button up shirt and a cardigan; not at all the type of outfit one would usually wear to a bar, but it was what Remus wore and he didn’t try to change for anyone. Yes, he could have worn jeans, but it was simply too hot for that sort of thing. He had been taking a sip of his drink when a man slid into his booth and at first he thought it was going to be Sirius, but when he looked up, he realized that this was not his boyfriend at all, “Um, hello. Can I help you?”
*** “Yes. You can.” He’d return with that same confident, charming smile.
Remus didn’t have to worry, he wouldn’t be the most over-dressed one at the table. The young man across from him was wearing a suit. Sure, he’d left the tie at home and the shirt was unbuttoned slightly, but it was still a full, three piece suit. Vest and all.
“I actually have this policy. I don’t let handsome men drink alone. And here you are, alone. And drinking. And handsome.” He tilted his head and opened up his hands some as if to say ‘what are you gonna do?’ and then turned the scotch in gloved fingers lazily, though his eyes never came off of the sandy haired man across from him.
“And if that line isn’t enough to secure me a seat right here.” He pat a hand against the table, clearly indicating the booth. “Then I’ll have to make some sort of remark about your clothes being very becoming and no one wants to hear that. So let me just save us both some trouble. I’ll be your date until your date shows up. Deal?” He would stick his hand out across the table with an easy, warm smile.
“I’m Remy.”
Poor Remus, how long had it been since he’d had someone so bold just.. stake a claim on him? Well, someone not Sirius, that was.

Aside from Tonks, who had misread what they were as a result of the dreams and Regulus who did it mostly to mess with Sirius, Remus didn’t get hit on often. It wasn’t that it never happened, but it wasn’t a common occurrence. So when the other man sat down across from him and began flirting with him so openly, Remus wasn’t entirely sure what to say at first. He knew that if Sirius walked in then, he’d likely get even more jealous than when Regulus did it. The younger Black was only slightly more discreet. “I’m not entirely sure my date will appreciate that.” While it was nice to know that Sirius was extremely protective over him, he also knew what sort of temper his boyfriend could have when provoked and Remus didn’t want to see anyone get hurt.

“I’m sure that any respectful date would be glad to know that their other half was being properly watched over by a surrogate date in the event they’re late.” He glanced at a clock on the wall, then looked back at poor Remus with a smile. “And at seven-seventeen? Something tells me that date is late. Not many dates that are planned at seven-twenty, you know?” Sorry, this guy wasn’t going anywhere unless you actively told him to leave.
He was confident enough and bold enough that he would sit there until (and maybe after) this guy’s date arrived.
“So what’s his name? Her name?” He was guessing ‘his’. Remy was an observant man, after all, and judging on this man’s clothes, his slightly shy demeanor, and the fact that he’d called it his ‘date’, though he could have easily said ‘girlfriend’, he was saying it was a man.
***
Remus wasn’t entirely sure if this was a good idea, but he had a feeling that this man wasn’t going to leave any time soon. Besides, Sirius knew that Remus would never cheat on him, so even if Sirius did show up while the other man was still sitting across from him, it was possible that Sirius wouldn’t get as jealous as Remus knew he could get. “It’s probable that he got hung up talking to someone.” Not long ago, Remus wouldn’t have come right out and admitted that he was waiting for a man, but considering that the person hitting on him was another man, he didn’t think he needed to worry.
Remus lifted his drink, considered what he was about to do then answered the question before taking a sip, “Sirius. His name is Sirius.”
***
“Like the dog star.” Not the radio station. “Did you know Sirius has a brother? Procyon. Canis Minor.” That statement gave him pause and he considered his words for a moment before hazel eyes came back up to Remus and he smiled slowly. “That’s a good name.” Sirius.
“What’s your name?” He half expected it to be something rather dull. Bill. Mike. John.
He sort of looked like a John.
And since he’d already given his name? Well, it was a completely legitimate question to be asking. Right? Of course it was. If there was nothing else to give Remy credit for, it could always be said that he had brass.
***
Nodding, Remus set his drink back down on the table, “Yes, exactly like the dog star.” It was ironic now that Remus thought about it, that Sirius could turn into a dog. “I’m actually rather familiar with astronomy actually.” Both in and out of the dreams, Remus had taken the class and had enjoyed it immensely. He was tempted to tell Remy what his Sirius’ brother’s name was, but then he was asked his own name and it would have been rude not to tell him, “My name is Remus. Remus Lupin.” Besides, he was curious if the other man was going to tell him something about his own name.
***
“Remus Lupin?” A curling smile would spread over his face like the plague across Europe. “Remus like Remus and Romulus? Boys raised by wolves. Romulus killed Remus, if memory serves and.. Lupin.” He tilted his head to the side as he studied the man across from him. “Is a flower. A gentle wolf. A gentle wolf with a Dog Star boyfriend.” It was fitting. Very, very fitting.
So fitting, in fact, it made the Cajun smile like it was Christmas morning.
Those two must have been so perfect for one another.
“You two must be so cute together.” He could just picture it now.
***
“Yes, but in my case, it’s a family name.” Remus’ parents had been reluctant to saddle him with a name like Remus, but it had been his grandfather’s name, so there really wasn’t much wiggle room when it came to it. Remus had grown up, knowing what both his first and last name meant, so when he originally met Sirius, he had thought it cool that their names were animals. Of course now, after becoming a werewolf and Sirius being able to turn into a dog, there was quite a lot of irony when it came to their names.
At Remy’s comment, Remus quirked a brow slightly, a small smile crossing his lips, “There are some who would agree with that statement.” It wasn’t that Remus didn’t think he and Sirius were cute, but it was hard when he didn’t see himself that way.
***
“I wager there are more than some who would agree with it. If he’s half as attractive as you are.” He certainly wasn’t the only one out there with good taste, and Remus was a very good looking man.
Remy had always had a thing for older men.
Older women, too, come to think of it.
Yeah, he’d watch their sex tape, if it ever came up on the internet.
“Are you always so shy?” Maybe shy wasn’t the right word-- it wasn’t like the poor man had tried to hide under the table when Remy came and joined him, but he didn’t seem very sure about his company, either. And that could have been because, well, the Cajun could be seen as far too aggressive to people who weren’t used to this sort of attention.
***
“Most think he’s more attractive.” Remus was one of those people. He had always thought that Sirius was ten times more attractive than he was and when they had first gotten together had often asked himself why Sirius had chosen him when there were tons of other more attractive people out there.
If Remy was waiting for a sex tape, he’d be waiting an awful long time, because Remus certainly wasn’t the type to film himself having sex.
Remus took a sip of his drink before answering the question, “Not all the time, but it isn’t everyday that I’m approached like this.” He couldn’t help but glance around the bar real quick to see if Sirius had arrived yet. Sirius was the more talkative one and if he didn’t get defensive, thinking Remy was hitting on Remus, he would probably strike up a conversation with the other man, easily.
***
“I don’t see how that could be possible. You’re extremely hot.” Remy’s eyebrows jumped up once and he smiled slowly, leaning forward a little as he did, lifting his glass of scotch some. “So if he’s hotter than you, he’s got to be.. Rodrigo Santoro, or one of those guys from 300.” He laughed some and would lift that drink to take a sip, though he didn’t take his eyes from Remus.
“What is it you do for a living? You’re not both.. archeologists or something, are you?” Remus looked like he could be. Or a teacher.
***
“He’s a teacher. I’m rich. And you’re in my spot,” Sirius said as he moved to stand directly in front of the booth. His arms were folded across his chest and he was glaring directly at Remy. He’d gotten held up when he’d had a little bike trouble on the way here, but thankfully it had been something he could fix on his own. However, the last thing Sirius had expected was to arrive and find some asshole hitting on his boyfriend.
***
Hazel eyes came up and he’d look the darker man over from head to toe and back up again, a slow smile creeping over his lips. Oh, he looked surprisingly pleased by this. “You must be Sirius.” Completely undeterred. “Remus and I were just discussing how hot you were. He said you were better looking than he was. I didn’t believe it.” A pause hung. “I still don’t.” He’d thumb absently with a gloved hand at Remus. “There’s just something about him.” Yes, he found Remus more attractive. But surely Sirius could appreciate the taste there-- even if it made him want to strangle the Southern boy.
“But yes, I am in your seat.” Proclaimed as he knocked back the rest of his scotch and slid from the booth, tapping a gloved finger on the table top. “I was right,” he would tell Remus with a pleased smile. “You do look adorable together. The Prince and his Hunting Dog.” Well, Orion had the Hunting Dog but Remus was a Prince-- it fit well enough.
***
Remus looked up at the sound of Sirius’ voice then glanced back towards Remy as the younger man spoke again then back at his boyfriend, “Sirius, this is Remy. He was keeping me company while I was waiting for you,” Sirius knew that Remus would never entertain the thought of cheating on him, but it was obvious that Sirius was jealous and he didn’t blame him. After all, it was quite obvious that Remy was doing his best to make Sirius as jealous as possible. “Remy was very interested in the meanings of our names.” He said, attempting to explain the other man’s reference.
***
“And now that I’m here, he can move… preferably now.” Sirius’ temper certainly wasn’t improving and he was tempted to hex the hell out of the cocky southerner. Unlike when Regulus pulled this crap, Sirius didn’t have to pretend to be nice. “He can look it up in a book at the library, or on the internet. But it sounds like he already knows what they mean. So… end of conversation, nice to meet you, now move your ass before I move it for you.”
***
Remy was rather good with that. And it amused him that Sirius had gotten all puffed up about it. So, he’d slip to his feet in a graceful movement, though he’d brought that glass with him. Lifting it some, he would point the small scotch-glass at the darker of the two and would lift his eyebrows.
“You shouldn’t threaten people you don’t have a chance of winning against.” Another cocky statement, though he’d knock back the remainder of his drink, then lower the glass some. “But I can see why you’re getting uppity.. I am stunning. But..” He glanced back at Remus and gave him a wink. “I don’t do couples.” And hazel eyes quickly came back to who he imagined was the more violent of the two.
“You have yourself a good night, Handsome.”
**
Remus wasn’t so sure about that, considering Sirius was a Wizard and could probably put a hex on Remy before the cajun even knew it. However, he nodded in Remy’s direction, “It was nice to meet you,” He glanced at Sirius, giving his boyfriend a look that meant, ’Don’t hex him.’ The last thing either of them needed was for Sirius to get into a fight or to expose that they were Wizards to the other people in the bar.
***
Sirius rolled his eyes and took his seat. “He’s not stunning… he’s just a cocky asshole,” he grumbled under his breath. “I could take that moron down with a simple First Year hex!” But when Remus gave him that look, he sighed and rolled his eyes again. “Fine, fine… but only for you,” he replied. “So… besides that idiot, how was your day?” he asked Remus once they were finally alone.
***
“He’s harmless.” Remus reached out and placed a hand over one of Sirius’ in an attempt to reassure him that he had nothing to worry about. “It was good. I’ll be honest, teaching college is preferable to high school.” It had only been a few days, but Remus was thoroughly enjoying teaching at UC Irvine. Spotting a waitress, Remus gestured for her to come over so Sirius could order a drink and hopefully cool down after the encounter with Remy.
