Anna invited her sister over to help her unpack. They could put on some music, go through boxes, and have some time just the two of them. Anna was thinking that now she was living away from her sister, she’d need to take extra effort to make sure that she and Elsa continued to connect and bond together.
So, music. Anna put on some Taylor Swift, and started in the kitchen, unpacking some dishes and things. She’d had to make a few purchases, too, to augment what extras she’d found at her parents’ house to take. She danced to do the door at the sound of the bell, and broke into a grin as she tugged it open.
Elsa was going to have to get used to Anna not being around the house anymore and helping her unpack seemed like one way to cement it in her mind. After all seeing her things in a new home would stick in her mind.
Walking up the path seemed surreal and it wasn’t long before she was stood in front of Anna’s door, smiling as her dancing sister answered it. “Hey you, settling in already I see” she grinned before hugging her.
It was a pretty tiny place, though it was nice. A one bedroom condo that Anna had found to rent. Though, she’d considered buying, she decided to rent first and see how she liked things in this area. It wasn’t like she was hurting for money. Elsa had helped her to find it, so she didn’t have to give her sister a tour or anything.
“Hey!” Anna reached forward and hugged her sister tightly. Very tightly. “Well, I’m trying. Taylor’s helping. Come in come in!” She said, and turned to usher Elsa into the kitchen.
Anna would never hurt for money, Elsa would make sure of that. Their parents had ensured they were well taken care of and the television company had been left to Elsa so they would always have that as well.
She’d approved of Anna’s decision to rent first, glad her sister wasn’t rushing into anything. “It sounds like she is” Elsa replied, surprised but welcoming of her sisters tight embrace. “It looks even better than when we looked at it”
“I’m starting to get some stuff up. Ooh, come look at this!” Anna said, leading the way through the tiny kitchen and into the dining room area. “I put these up in your honor.” She said. All around the ceiling of the dining room were strung Christmas Lights shaped like snowflakes.
Elsa couldn’t stop the rather delighted laugh that came from her when she saw the lights, “Anna, that’s amazing. And very sweet” she said with a smile and a one arm hug for her sister.
Anna blushed a little and wrapped an arm around Elsa in return. “I’m glad you like it. I mean, even though we’re not living together, I still love you. You’re always with me.”
“I love you too Anna. I will always be here for you, whenever and whatever you need. You can always come to me, okay?” Elsa said, pressing a kiss to her baby sisters head.
“Okay. Of course.” Anna said, nodding. Then she withdrew and headed back to the kitchen. “Let's get these plates and pots and pans unpacked?”
“Yes lets get that done then you can stop living on takeout” Elsa told her sister with a knowing grin.
“Hey, there’s nothing wrong with take-out.” Anna argued gently. She was grinning. “Lots of vegetables? Even if they’re overpriced and overprocessed.” She said, then practically skipped to the kitchen to start unloading the first box.
“Uh huh, well done on proving exactly why you shouldn’t live on takeout” Elsa teased with a laugh and a shake of her head at her sisters exuberance.
Anna beamed. “I can’t wait to get shopping. I think I might order those fresh grocery deliveries? Since I love the fresh produce and don’t always have time to… who am I kidding? I have nothing but time right now. Farmer’s Market, here I come!”
“Oh I see. You move out and discover a love of cooking. Depriving your sister of your culinary masterpieces” Elsa teased with a wink.
Anna laughed. “Who said anything about cooking? I’m gonna eat those fruits and veggies raw, man.”
Elsa laughed, “Oh Anna. Well I guess I can’t chastise you too much for that. You’ll be eating healthily at least”
“That’s the whole point, right?” Anna said. She finished with some pots and pans stolen from her parents’ home, and then moved to unpack a couple boxes of plates that she purchased to round out her dishes in the kitchen.
“It is indeed” Elsa said moving to help her sister finish unpacking the kitchen stuff, “Any particular places for this stuff?” she asked.
“Nah, just go for the most logical place?” Anna said. “Utensils by the dishwasher, cooking spoons by the stove? That sort of thing.” She didn’t really like coming up with places for everything, but she liked it when everything had a place.
Elsa nodded, organisation she could do. “No worries, logical works for me” she said moving to start putting things in their new place.
Anna was thrilled to have her sister there to help her unpack. It was so much more fun with a friend. Especially when the friend was her sister. “I have root beer and ice cream.” Anna said, dancing to Taylor’s music as she put spoons away in a drawer.
“Root beer floats?” Elsa suggested, “Once we’ve finished with the unpacking I could make some for us”
“That’s a great idea.” Anna said. She needed to fill her cupboards with some good food, but for now root beer floats would have to suffice. “Maybe we can go shopping this week? For groceries?”
Oh she’d make sure Anna ate until her cupboards were full, that’s what big sisters did she was sure. “Absolutely. Good plan” Elsa approved.
“Good. Okay. And next? Linens!” Then it was time for those Root Beer floats.
