Cass had needed something to take her mind off everything with Laura, so she'd decided to suit up and head into town, keeping to the roofs. She didn't have a specific plan or following any case or anything; she just wanted to try and not worry about her friend for a couple of hours. Of course she knew that was impossible, cause even if Laura said she was fine, Cass didn't believe her.

Sitting on the edge of a building, clad in her Black Bat costume, Cass watched the streets below for any signs of a crime.

Somewhere nearby came the unmistakable sound of a fist hitting flesh, and the cry of pain that quickly followed.

Kate dropped her elbow into the man's back, then flipped over his body in a flurry of cape to plant her foot in his partner's face.

From her vantage point, Cass could see quite far and as the sounds of the scuffle reached her ears, Cass searched for where it was coming from and once she was sure she knew where, she stood and moved from one rooftop to the next until the fight was happening right below her and using her cape to glide, she jumped off the roof, her feet angled down so they slammed right into one of the guy’s backs.

Kate nearly threw a batarang into Cass’s face before she caught herself. “Huh. Was wondering if I was alone out here or not.” She kicked someone into the pavement while talking.

“I come out here every couple of nights.” Cass probably would have been able to catch the batarang, had Kate thrown it at her, but she was glad that she hadn’t. “You come out here every night?” She asked as the guy that she’d landed on came back at her and she slammed her first into his face. She was still getting used to the claws on the gloves of her new costume when she made a fist, but was beginning to not even think twice about it now.

“Most nights, yes.” Kate rolled her shoulders. Her costume fit her well, and was clearly reinforced - she was certain it could take bullets like it did in her dreams. “It’s dangerous work.”

Cass nodded and glanced down at the now unconscious guy at her feet, “Tell me around it.” Cass’ Blackbat costume was a little more functional than her Batgirl costume and she was liking it a lot better. It also had kevlar in all the right places, but she couldn’t help but wonder if bullets would still get through like they oh so conveniently seemed to do in certain dreams. It was like the kevlar all of a sudden decided to stop working sometimes. “Been out long tonight?”

“About three hours,” Kate said. Her cape swirled around her legs, the red inner lining against the blackness of the rest making for a nice contrast. “You?”

“About two. What was their story?” She asked, gesturing towards the two, now unconscious men. She was sure that it was nothing as crazy as the thugs in Gotham got sometimes, but she was still curious.

“Caught them trying to strip down a car.” Kate jerked her thumb back towards the street. “Small fry, but it’s been pretty slow tonight. At least there aren’t any super villains running around.”

Deciding that leaving the guys sprawled out on the ground probably wasn’t the best idea, in case they regained consciousness soon, Cass pulled two zip ties from a pocket in her belt and proceeded to wrap them around both guy’s wrists, “Kinda dull when you think about the stuff that went on in Gotham, huh?” Not that she wanted The Joker or The Riddler to suddenly show up. She was also extremely glad that her parents weren’t on the network cause the last thing that Orange County needed were Lady Shiva and David Cane running around the streets.

“At least Bruce isn’t around to give me dirty looks when I kneecap someone like Mr. Freeze.” She had, and it had felt good, and she knew it pissed Bruce off, which made it more awesome.

Cass couldn’t help but smirk a little at that, because it was true. “Yeah, Bruce had a different set of morals than other people.” While Cass had tried to redeem herself on multiple occasions, she always felt like she never truly fit in with Bruce and the others. At least not until Bruce adopted her. “Could you imagine if that whole gender switching thing had affected Bruce.” Now that was something Cass would have wanted to see.

“Hot. I’d tap that.” Kate smirked at her. She felt like Bruce was a giant hypocrite but she wasn’t going to say that to one of his adherents. Her opinion on the Bat Cult remained unchanged. “But I’d still want to hit him.”

Cass laughed, glad that her new costume didn’t conceal her face like the Batgirl costume did. Wearing just a domino mask might have shown off more of her face than the complete cowl, but it also wasn’t quite as stuffy, “I can understand why some people would want to hit him.” Hell, Cass had joined the other team once or twice. Sure, she was brainwashed at least one of those times, but still, “So, any other plans for tonight?” Cass wasn’t sure what time it was, but another sweep of the area could probably be done.

“I was going to head over to a rougher part of the neighborhood,” Kate said, looking in that direction. “Just a quick run through and then I was going to head home.”

“Mind if I come along?” Cass didn’t feel like going home just yet and while beating up thugs was fun alone, it was a little more fun when you had someone to team up with. “You never know what craziness you might run into out there.” If Kate refused then Cass would go her own way, but she hoped that the other woman agreed to her tagging along. Besides, it was nice to be around someone else from her dreams.

“I don’t mind at all.” She took off at a jog, and didn’t look back to see if Cass was going to follow her.
