Who: Justin and Billy When: Mid August Where: Their place What: Dream boyfriend talk and dinner making Rating/Warning: Low/None Status: Complete
Justin had spent the last couple of hours in the extra room in the apartment that he’d turned into a bit of a makeshift studio and his clothes were currently streaked with paint of various colors as he came out into the living room, massaging his cramped fingers, “Billy?” He was trying to get ready for the art show he would be in in a few weeks, but it was going much slower than last time thanks to his injury from the dreams.
Walking through the living room, to his and Billy’s room, he pulled his paint streaked shirt off before reaching the door. He loved thinking of it as his and Billy’s room now and knowing that he would get to sleep next to Billy everyday. It was hard to believe that it’d been a month already that they’d been living together.
Billy tried not to bother Justin too much when he was working in his studio, he liked watching him work but tried to do it unobtrusively when he did. He never wanted to be a distraction and especially not when it was so close to a show. Billy was incredibly proud of his boyfriend and had been telling everybody he knew about the show. As well as other random people.
“Bedroom” he called back when he heard his name. He was looking over the schedule for the upcoming week and working out what time he’d be home. He put everything on the bedside table and waited for Justin to enter. Grinning when he did so, “Mmm you should always be shirtless you know” he said almost conversationally.
Justin laughed as he leaned against the doorframe, one brow quirked, “Oh really? Even though I’m not as ripped as some other guys?” Justin was fit, there was no doubt about it, but it wasn’t like he was super muscular or anything like that. His stomach and arms were lightly toned from the years of surfing, but he was and probably would always be, what most guys referred to as a twink. And he really didn’t mind that.
Billy nodded, "Really" he said, "You're perfect" he smiled. It was funny to think that Billys boyfriend in the dreams was almost the opposite of Justin, there was no calling him a twink. He was Hulkling after all. But Billy preferred what he had here. His Justin.
Tossing his shirt into the hamper across the room, Justin moved to lay sit down on the bed, “You’re biased, but I’ll allow it.” He leaned over and kissed Billy, “So what’re you up to? Hungry?” He wasn’t sure how long he had been in his makeshift studio, but he knew it had been well over an hour and that it must be near dinnertime now.
Billy smiled before kissing back, enjoying the easy closeness they had. He shrugged, “I could eat. Guess it is that time after all. Did you get another piece started today?” he asked, always enjoying listening to Justin talk about his work.
Smiling, Justin got up and went to get a clean shirt, “I started something. Not sure where it’s going yet, but it’s something.” He pulled the shirt on and went back to the bed, holding his hand out to Billy, “What should we make for dinner?” Justin enjoyed making dinner with Billy; especially now that they lived together and one of them wouldn’t be leaving after dinner like on the nights that they didn’t spend over one of their apartments.
Billy sighed in a dramatically sad way when Billy put on his shirt, sad to see him do so but happy he'd be the one removing it later. "That's good, I look forward to seeing it" he took the offered hand and let himself be pulled from the bed. "Spaghetti?" he suggested, it was fairly quick and simple.
Justin laughed as Billy sighed and he pulled his boyfriend from the room and into the kitchen, “Spaghetti it is then.” Releasing Billy’s hand, he moved to get out the pots they’d need for the spaghetti and sauce, “Hey, so know what I realized while I was painting.” He didn’t know how it had taken him so long to realize it, “You and Brian have the same initials. B.K.”
Billy moved to get the ingredients together while Justin did the utensils. He stilled at the mention of Brian, he wasn't keen on the man at all especially now he'd turned up in the OC. "Huh? That's odd" he said.
Justin knew that Billy was worried that he’d leave him for Brian, but Justin had no intention of doing that. He might have been in love with the older man in his dreams, but in real life Justin was a different person and he wouldn’t be blinded by the man’s good looks. He was in love with Billy and had no intention of leaving him, “Isn’t it? I didn’t even think about it until now. Like, what are the odds of that?”
For Billy it made sense to be worried, he knew Justin loved him but in the dreams he loved Brian. What if those feelings combined with the older man's experience and good looks made Justin chose him here. Billy knew he'd be heartbroken. "Well my actual given name is William so if we go by that they aren't the same" he said softly.
“That’s true. I hadn’t thought of that.” Justin could tell that Billy didn’t really want to talk about Brian anymore, so he decided to change the subject a little as he filled a pan with water for the spaghetti, “So, what’s your dream boyfriend like? Anything like me?” He smirked over at the brunette as he set the pan on the stove and turned on the heat.
Billy felt guilty when the subject changed, he did want to listen to his boyfriends dreams. It had entertained them before and they’d had fun but it felt different now, now that Brian was actually real. He smiled as he looked at Justin, “Teddy’s kind like you are, sweet. But he’s a big geek too. Quotes films and tv shows a lot. And turns green and has super strength like the Hulk which I’ve not yet seen you do” he teased.
Justin didn’t want to make Billy uncomfortable and knew when enough was enough, so for the moment he thought a slightly subject change was good. He was sure they’d get back to his dreams eventually, “No. No, I’ve never turned green. Well, I did get sea sick once and someone said I looked green, but never turned completely green before.” He wasn’t surprised that Billy’s boyfriend in the dreams was also a superhero, like Billy. “So, is he on the same team you are?”
Billy didn’t mean to be uncomfortable and he’d been fine talking about Justin’s dreams before but now that Brian was around it felt different. He knew it was silly but he couldn’t help it. Justin was Billy’s first boyfriend and he’d fallen pretty hard. “So no romantic boat rides for you right?” he smiled before nodding, “Yeah, we’re both young avengers. His codename is Hulkling”
“Haha. It was one time. Besides, I surf, remember? Couldn’t do that if I got sea sick all the time.” Justin smirked and finished up what he was doing the prepare for dinner then moved to get out two bowls for when the spaghetti was done. “That must be pretty good though. Getting to fight along your boyfriend.” He was sure it was scary at times too, if they were in any real heavy battles.
“Yeah but being in the water and being in a boat on it is different right? You might still get sick, who knows?” Billy teased with a smile as he finished his task and moved to the next one. “It is pretty cool. Worrying as well though, like sometimes if he gets hurt it can be distracting”
“Like I said, one time.” Justin made a face at Billy then laughed. He liked hearing about Billy’s dreams since they were so different from his own, “Kind of funny how in your dreams you and your boyfriend are superheroes and in mine, I start a comic book where mine is a superhero.” So Rage wasn’t exactly your typical superhero, but it was kind of similar.
Billy laughed too, relaxing more now that they’d moved away from the subject of Brian. “Obviously we were just meant to be. It’s fate and destiny” he smiled over at Justin. It had to be something like that for Billy to be so lucky. Justin was gorgeous as well as kind, talented and funny.
“Fate, huh?” Justin flashed a bright smile at Billy and moved over to where he was and pressed a kiss to his lips, “Fate sounds good.” Justin didn’t know if it was really fate or whatever, but he liked the sound of it. “I’ve gotta ask though, what would you do if Teddy turned out to be a real person and was in the same boat as us? Ya know, joined Valar Net then started dreaming about you.” It was a legitimate question, one that he hadn’t really thought of before, but now that they were talking about their dream boyfriends, it seemed like as good a time as any to bring it up.
“It does right?” Billy smiled, wrapping his arms around Justin’s waist returning the kiss. He wasn’t sure if he believed in fate entirely, but he knew something had been involved in him finding the one for him. “It’d be strange because dream me is in love with him but here I’m completely in love with you. I can’t imagine anything changing that. I love you more than I thought I could love anyone and I can’t imagine not being with you” he replied honestly, not breaking eye contact at all.
Justin wrapped his arms around Billy in return and smiled at him, “That’s good cause I can’t imagine not being with you too. So, if Teddy does turn out to be a real guy and tries to claim you or something, I’ll be right there to stop him. I mean, if he isn’t huge. If it looks like he could squash me then you’re on your own.” Justin was clearly teasing, but he did intend to keep Billy no matter what.
Billy smiled at that, “You know this means I get to stop Brian too, if he tries to stake a claim. I won’t go down without a fight and I’m pretty good at it being on a superhero team and all” he added, letting go of a little of the worry he’d had previously.
“I don’t doubt that. He’ll wish he hadn’t crossed you if he tries anything.” Justin smiled and kissed Billy as one hand slid up into the brunette’s hair. “I love you,” He said against his lips before pulling away a little, “Alright. Lets get dinner finished, cause I’m starving.” As if on cue, Justin’s stomach growled, “See?”
Billy smiled and returned the kiss happily, "Love you too" he said in return. "Okay, lets get you and the belly monster fed" he grinned happy and content with everything in his life at this point.
