Who: Anakin and Padmé
What: Anakin had a dream - and he’s gonna tell Padmé about it. And then Padmé pops a question
When: Monday morning
Where: Their bedroom
Rating/Warnings: So much fluffy sweetness
Status: Complete

As the last tendrils of sleep uncoiled around Anakin’s mind, he turned to his side to slip his arm around Padmé.

His dream had been satisfying, he was still riding off the dizzyingly silly feeling of complete happiness the dream had sparked. And he didn’t question how it was all still so vivid in his mind – it had some unique twists to it that he would go over again later for sure. But right now he was in a good mood, and he wanted to transfer those pleasant emotions to spending a moment with Padmé.

“Good morning,” he mumbled into her neck before planting a kiss there.

Sleep was hard to come by when Anakin was in the hospital, but now that he was back Padmé was finally able to get deep sleep. Granted it took her a while to fall asleep with her pregnant belly in the way of any comfortable positions, but once she found the right one she was in for a deep sleep. But she was waking from that sleep the moment she felt Anakin’s mouth against her neck and she couldn’t help but grin to herself.

“Mmmm, mornin’,” she mumbled back before rolling over slightly so she was laying on her back and she could look over at him. It was so nice to have him back and one last element of stress in her life.

Anakin’s smile was lazy as he snuggled closer to Padmé’s body. He’d not yet returned to work and Padmé couldn’t return to her work either – this made for languid, indulgent mornings.

“How did you sleep?” He gave her another kiss on her neck. It was the perfect spot, really.

“Alright. My stomach is just too big now and I may have to go out and buy a pillow or something for it,” she couldn’t help but giggle a little as he kissed her neck once again. She had really missed this and she was going to enjoy every second of it right now. Soon enough there would be two screaming babies that would need attention.

“What about you?” she murmured back as she reached a hand up to play with his hair. He honestly needed a haircut, but she wasn’t going to tell him that since she loved playing with his hair.

Padmé could play with his hair all she wanted – why would he ever deny her touch?

His hand traveled down Padmé’s belly and waited for someone to kick him. He was certain there was one who liked to kick more than the other, but it was hard to confirm his suspicion.

“I will get you every pillow you want-” And then he had to stifle a yawn, by burying his face in Padmé’s hair. He came back up trying to blow hair out of his mouth.

“Soon as I wake up.” Speaking of sleep only reminded him of the dream he had, and how it wasn’t fading like other dreams.

“I had the strangest dream last night,” he said off hand, because he didn’t think it actually meant anything.

The babies were usually fairly active in the morning, which drove her nuts because sometimes it would catch her off guard and she would wake up to one or both of them kicking around in there. Every day it was still surreal to her that she was harboring two small children in there. And she honestly couldn’t wait for them to get out of there.

“You can go back to sleep if you want,” she commented with a hearty laugh as she watched Anakin trying to blow the hair out of his mouth. A hand reached over and pulled some hair for him and then her brow furrowed when he mentioned a strange dream. Could it be? “What did you dream about?”

“I was there and you were there. But we were like kids. I was nine, I think, but you were a little bit older.”

Hair out of his mouth, he settled back down to relay the dream.

“And some guy I grew up near, he owned a junk shop next to the trailer park back in Arizona. For some reason he was there, too.” That was the start of the strange for him, he couldn’t ever remember dreaming of Watto.

“But my brain made him some kind of alien – he looked like a blue aardvark with fly wings.” He smiled at that.

“We were still in a junk shop though… with a lot of cool little gadgets.”

It was. It was certainly the beginning of his dreams starting to come back, but it was such an early dream in their alternate life. Was he starting completely over? From the way he was talking about the dream it certainly sounded like that was the case. Should she say that she had this dream as well?

Maybe not right away. So she reached a hand over and ran a finger along his chest as she listened to him talk, “what else happened? And I feel like a junk shop with gadgets would be your absolute paradise.”

He raised a playful eyebrow at her. “Are you saying I belong in a junk shop?”

He only paused a second to feign seriousness before continuing.

“From there the dream just got stranger.” Stranger than his mind making Watto a blue aardvark with wings. “For some reason I think I was Watto’s slave. That’s just- he wasn’t like that. He wasn’t what you’d call a gentleman, but he was just a junk dealer. Brains are weird – maybe it’s the accident?”

He shifted to bring his arm up and tuck it behind his head under his pillow, resting back on it.

“But you were there, so it was a good dream.”

“Aw, aren’t you cute,” she retorted with a playful laugh before reaching out to open up his palm and wiggled her fingers on the palm of his hand, “I’m not saying you belong in a junk yard, but I feel like you could have a living as one of those Pickers and you would have a hell of a time.” She wanted so badly to tell him that she knew about the kind of dream he was having, but she decided it was something to run by Obi-Wan first. Maybe he could gentilly easy him into the world of the dreaming once again.

“What was I doing in this dream? Anything?”

His hand opened for Padmé’s. Moments like this, there wasn’t anything to fear about the future. Twins? Bring ‘em on, he could handle it. Marriage? He was just waiting to experience it.

“You were being beautiful.” He knew he was being cheeky again.

“We spoke. I asked you if you were an angel, a space angel from a certain planet, and you said I was a funny little boy for saying it.”

There was a moment of hesitation when he uttered those words. The same words she knew so well “are you an angel” it was so adorable and cheesy at the same time. But that meant he was definitely on the track of the dreams. But she quickly went back to playing with his hand before leaning over to kiss his cheek, “You’re such a flatterer.”

“And you are a funny boy if you go around asking girls if they’re a space angel.”

“You would ask yourself if you were a space angel too, admit it.” That was completely nonsensical, but Anakin didn’t care. Padmé let him be this silly, and as far as he understood it, she played into it.

“But that’s not the best part.”

Oh this should be interesting. The fact that he called it the best part she couldn’t help but sit up a little bit and roll over onto her side to stare over at him. She use her free hand to push some hair out of her face and a playful smile tugged at the corner of her mouth, “What was the best part?” There were so many options with this dream and she was really curious and excited to see what he would declare as the best part of this dream.

Anakin turned to his side, facing Padmé and pushed up on his elbow. He reached over to help Padmé brush the strands of hair out of her face.

“When I walked in and saw you. I just knew- I knew I was going to marry you. I didn’t know your name- I mean, in my dream I didn’t know who you were when I first saw you. But I just still knew I was going to marry you.”

There were aliens and space wizards and robots he’d yet to address, and yes, they were on his mind, still. But his thoughts were dominated by Padmé.

“Which is true, because we are going to get married. Even in my dreams, you’re the only one my brain thinks about.”

“Ani,” she cooed gently as she leaned forward and captured his lips with a kiss. This was the Anakin that she absolutely loved and she would never give up these moments with him for anything. But him commenting about getting married brought back the thoughts she had been having before the accident. But unfortunately to voice those thoughts she had to pull away from the kiss, “Speaking of getting married. I was thinking that we’re going to have too much going on soon and I really want the babies to be legally yours...so…. maybe we should just go and elope before they get here and plan a big wedding for after the babies are here.”

Oh, kisses from Padmé. Anakin did not object, and would have liked there to be more.

His eyebrows shot up. He did not have any particular perfect wedding idea in his head. All that he needed was for them to both be present before an officiator telling them they were now married.

“You mean, like right now? Go to Vegas?”

A giggle erupted from her due to the craziness of what they were both about to discuss. She gave a nod with her eyes alight and a grin on her face, “Sure, why not? I’m not doing much else today. We would just have to get Obi-Wan and Siri to come with us.” She didn’t know Siri very well in this world, but she wanted to. She wanted anyone from their dreams to be involved since no one had been there during the first wedding.

Anakin stared at Padmé for the duration of time it took his brain to process the when. About two seconds.

“Alright!” There was genuine, enthusiastic excitement in his voice.

They were going to go get married. Right now. Today. Maybe he should shower first, brush his teeth. But after that, they were going to get married.

“What do we- Do we have a license? What do we need?”

His excitement and questioning earned a hearty laugh from her and she rolled over into him and snuggled up against him, “I have no idea what we need. I think Vegas is pretty easy to get a license and all that. We should also pick out rings and such. Oh god, should we do this now or should we wait a day? I need a dress!”

Yeah, if they went to Vegas they would have a lot to do before the ceremony could actually happen, “Maybe we should go today and then get married late tonight or tomorrow.”

Anakin wasn’t so concerned about outfits and rings, but if Padmé wanted them, then they would get them.

“We can… go down today and figure it out when we get there.” Which was the best, most detailed plan two ridiculously in love people could ever formulate. What could go wrong?
