Who: Merlin and Severus Snape When: Second Week in August Where: Stark Tower What: A Visit Rating/Warning: Low/None Status: Complete
They’d put together the potion for Jem, and had worked fairly well together. There were a few things that Sev had attempted in this world and hadn’t been able to accomplish. He was thinking, though, that possibly with Merlin’s help he’d be able to produce a couple of the potions that he’d been working on. Fingers crossed, anyway.
He showed up at Stark Tower and asked where Merlin’s office was. The woman at the front desk directed him to IT, so he wandered in that general direction. This was the first time he’d set foot in Stark Tower, so he was taking it all in.
Merlin was sat tapping away at his desk focused on a new project he’d been given which was just about holding his interest. Though he was still distracted by thoughts of his wife and their baby, he was just so excited.
Sensing that somebody had entered the outer office he wheeled his chair over to the door and stuck his head out, “Severus!” he said, “Hello, come on through. Have I forgotten a meeting?”
“No no,” Severus said, thankful that he’d found Merlin. This place was a bit of a maze, wasn’t it? All of the corridors looked the same. He stepped through into Merlin’s office and glanced around. “This is an unexpected visit. I hope I’m not interrupting anything.”
“Oh good good. I swear I’m the one with baby brain at the moment” he said wryly, “You’re fine, you’re fine. This your first visit?” he asked as he noticed the other man glancing around, “I can give you a tour if you’re interested?” he offered.
“That’s right. I heard something about that. Congratulations are in order.” Severus said. Then he shrugged his shoulders. “It’s unimportant. I doubt I’ll be spending much time here in future. I did want to speak with you about a couple of side projects that I’m working on.”
“Thanks” Merlin nodded, his face full of a wide proud smile, “Oh, of course. Please come and take a seat” he gestured to the other chair in the room, “How can I help?”
Severus stepped further into the office. He was rather stiff when he moved, but that was simply his style. He slipped into the chair and attempted to relax a bit. “...There are ingredients for potions that I can find in my Dream World, but simply do not exist here. My attempts at finding replacements for said items have failed so far. Since we worked so well together on our previous joint venture, I thought I would ask if you’re interested in helping me with these new projects.”
“Sure. I mean if I can I am more than willing to. I think we make a good team. Science and magic” he grinned, “What kind of things are you after?”
“There’s a potion that I’ve been struggling with. It’s called the Felix Felicis.” Severus said, raising an eyebrow. “There are several ingredients that I cannot find in this world. It’s possible that they simply don’t exist here.”
“Lucky of Lucky” Merlin murmured, his knowledge of latin emerging, “A luck potion?” he asked curiously with a smile, “Well I can try, things appear from our dreams so who’s to say I can’t summon something from them. Even if they aren’t my dreams”
Severus broke into a smirk when Merlin translated the name of the potion. He nodded once. “Its power is… impressive. Under normal circumstances I wouldn’t toy around with such potions, but my curiosity is getting the better of me. It’s a NEWT level potion, one that I could brew in my sleep in my Dreams.” Severus sighed gently. “All right. I’ll make a list of ingredients we’ll need for this potion and the others.”
“Well you have my curiosity piqued, I’d love to see if this is something we could work out. And if it is just think of all the others potions we could try from your dreams” Merlin knew Severus was a potions professor so it would no doubt be a very interesting time for them. “Great!”
“I have several books from my dreams. I’m sure we could sort out all kinds of things to try.” Severus said, nodding once. “The next time you have a free evening, send me a text message. I’ll email you that list of ingredients. We can get started. But as for now, I should be getting back to work.” He stood from his chair.
“I can’t wait” Merlin smiled before nodding and standing, “Of course. Thanks for stopping by Severus, I’ll check with Audrey and let you know which evening will be best”
Severus nodded. He reached forward to shake Merlin’s hand before heading out of the office. “I’m sure I’ll speak with you soon.”
Merlin shook his hand with a smile, “Absolutely” he nodded before letting Severus go back to work.
