Who: Athos and Elizabeth Weir Where: Conference room When Mid July What Securing a UN meeting Status: Complete Rating: Low/None
Elizabeth was sat at the conference table in the middle of a busy room, reading through the document for the next briefing.
Athos hadn’t had an assignment like this since he’d left the CIA but the building had been under surveillance so the Agency had decided to send him to assist security as a precaution. Entering the conference room one last time before the commencing of the meeting he noticed a familiar face sat at the table. Moving closer he said, “Elizabeth Weir?”
“Yes?” Elizabeth looked up from her paperwork. “Athos? Athos Fere? How are you?” she asked, happy to see an old friend as she stood to greet him. “What brings you here?”
“I thought it was you” he smiled as she stood, “I’m good thank you. Working security for the building - just making sure you’re all safe and sound. How are you doing? Still sorting them all out? Keeping everything in order?”
“Of course” she laughed, shaking his hand. “They’d hardly pay me for my good looks” she joked, “Still with the CIA then?” she asked as she leant back against the table.
“Now I know that’s not true” Athos replied with a small kind smile, before he shook his head in answer to her question. “Private security now. The agency” he said, figuring if she knew she knew and if not he’d get away with it.
“Oh I see. Should I be talking to you or will a group of agents be converging on my position?” she joked.
“It’s alright. You’re on my safe list” he told her, “So how come you’re here? Last I heard you were teaching”
“I am teaching at UC Irvine. Languages and conflict resolution. It is what I‘m good at,” she held out her hands palm up to indicate the room, “So how did you end up at the Agency?”
“Ah the UN still keeping you on the books huh? Don’t blame them. Well I kind of got headhunted I suppose you could say. I was invited to join and move to the OC. Nothing keeping me where I was so I took the chance”
“Opportunistic, I like that,” Elizabeth grinned at him. “Are you enjoying it here then? Settled in? Did you know anyone before moving here?”
“More than I thought I would” he admitted, “I didn’t think I did but I ran into an old friend a few days after being here and I’m uh actually living with someone now so.. there’s that” he wasn’t entirely comfortable talking about personal things.
"Living with someone? Congratulations," Elizabeth smiled at him. "There's something about this place," she shook her head. "I met someone here too and now we're looking for a house," she explained, blushing slightly as she did.
“Thank you. Same to you” Athos replied, relaxing a little, “It seems we have more in common than we knew since we’re looking for a new place as well” Athos liked the idea of finding his and D’Artagnan’s forever home but he didn’t want to scare D’Artagnan by saying so.
Elizabeth grinned happily at him. “We should do dinner once one of us has found a home,” she suggested. “Although I’ll be completely honest, my homes up until recently have mostly been places where I can change clothes and occasionally sleep in between flights in and out of the country, so my taste may not be up to much,” she joked. “Let’s hope Leonard can save us all,” she laughed.
“Sure, that’d be good” Athos agreed, he and D’Artagnan needed to socialise with more than each other and the Musketeers. “I’m pretty easy going but D’Artagnan is a bit more picky. He wants certain things so I have a feeling we’re in for a long search” he shrugged, he didn’t mind too much in all honesty. As long as D’Artagnan was happy then so was Athos.
“Certain things? Like a swimming pool? Because that would be kind of cool,” Elizabeth replied. “You’d become like the new social butterflies of the OC,” she winked at him. “I think my criteria would be…a fireplace. To curl up on and watch a movie in front of,” she smiled happily, imagining her and Leonard just as she had described. “With a garden for Joanna and a decently sized kitchen,” she grinned.
“No swimming pool, I can’t imagine much worse than being the social butterflies of anywhere. A fireplace sounds pretty good though” Athos agreed, “D’Artagnan wants a window corner seat as well as a few other little things which shouldn’t be too hard to find but he also wants a certain feeling about it. That’s the harder part” he said.
“You’re better at it than you think,” Elizabeth smiled at him. “A window seat? Oh, now there’s an idea. I may have to tell Leonard about that. Sounds like a brilliant place to curl up and read,” she told him
“I think that’s D’Artagnan’s plan too. That and watch the world go by” he smiled fondly, “And I’m willing to go along with that if it makes him happy”
“You two sound very happy together,” Elizabeth remarked, watching Athos’ face. “Here,” she turned around and took a business card out of her handbag to hand to him. “Drop me a text when you can and we’ll co-ordinate a dinner together,” she smiled, handing the card over.
Athos was aware he sounded a little smitten sometimes when he spoke about D’Artagnan, but he couldn’t and wouldn’t stop. He was smitten after all. “Will do” he nodded, “I better get back to work, make sure you’re all safe a secure for your meeting. I’ll let you know as soon as I can” he added pocketing the card with her contact details.
"And we thank you for your service," Elizabeth smiled at him, holding her hand out to shake his before he moved off. The OC never ceased to amaze her with the people she kept running into, but she was complaining in the slightest.
