Guilt twisted Anakin’s gut. As much as he tried to joke about the accident and brush it off as something they couldn’t know for sure he wasn’t culpable for, he knew otherwise. At the least it was mostly his fault. He knew his track record and how as often as he achieved great success with his stunts, he had as many failures. Some of them quite spectacular.
“I’m sorry, Padmé.” He said it easily, as stubborn and as prideful as he could be, with her it was just easy to admit when he was wrong.
“I don’t know what I was thinking- I mean,” he added. “I don’t remember what it was I was thinking, but I know I shouldn’t have been thinking it.”
He brought his other arm up to wrap around Padmé and pull her that much closer.
