'I'm not his father,' Ned wanted to protest, but that would have been terribly selfish of him and it would leave Jon with no one. She says she comes without meaning to turn his life upside-down, but her showing up at his door had already shaken up his snowglobe.
"Oh sod that. Since when were things ever easy with us? You're his mother, and you're my sister, and I'll not have you disappearing on me again." He ran his hands down his thighs and sighed, clutching absently at his knees.
"He hasn't stopped asking about you since the moment he could talk. It's not fair on him or you. We'll figure it out, and we'll tell him, and... well. Let the chips fall where they may." Ned wasn't feeling half as confident as his words portrayed him to be, but they couldn't all be uncertain about it or nothing would happen.
"I'm going home in the weekend with... with Cat, my wife, and most of my brats. Have you met Cat? I don't even remember if you've met Cat."
