Who: Severus Snape and Romana When: Mid June Where: Park What: Playing Rating/Warning: Low/None Status: Complete when posted
It took a few minutes to get the diapers, wipes and toys packed into the stroller. Sev was looking forward to getting the kids to the park, even though it was likely that David was going to sleep all the way through their trip. Daisy definitely wouldn’t. Daisy was excited to go on the slide, and the swings, and play in the sandbox… she wouldn’t stop babbling about all the things she was going to do when they got there, and which friends she hoped she’d see.
Severus let them out the front door and locked it behind them. He just let Daisy babble as they started on their short walk to the park.
Every time they went somewhere, they forgot something. She wasn’t sure why she couldn’t remember everything, even when she double checked. Triple checked. Now she had made sure that they had everything, she followed them all outside. Letting Severus push the stroller, she kept an eye on Daisy to make sure that she didn’t run too far ahead or try to cross the road without waiting for them.
“It feels nice to be outside again. I feel like I haven’t been outside in days,” she said with a laugh.
“I know how you feel,” Severus said. He was still on his paternity leave, and they’d been getting up at all hours to take care of screaming baby or fussy toddler so neither had been getting much sleep. Sev didn’t really mind, though. He was looking into changing jobs, anyway. But the lack of sleep did make them cranky and forgetful. “The sun feels pretty wonderful.”
Poor them, being stuck in the house all the time with the kids. Of course she wasn’t blaming them. Romana liked being home with the kids. She did miss the whole being outside thing though. Or perhaps just being at work. Okay so she didn’t miss that part so much but whatever. Sunshine was nice. “It does. So.. do you want to be the one pushing swings or watching babies today?”
She would likely go back to work. Sev would definitely go back to work. And Daisy would go back to school. Eventually. For now, though, they were having a ton of family time. Park trips, Zoo trips, playing in the backyard… naps. So many naps. “One and then the other? We can trade off.”
That would be one sad day. But for now Romana would happily enjoy her time in the park. She looked forward to going to the zoo, too. Naps were good. She was already looking forward to today’s when they got home. “That sounds good to me.” She lead the way into the park where Daisy took off to go play on the playground and went to sit down on one of the benches.
Severus moved over to the bench and took a seat next to Romana, after setting up the stroller beside them. David had fallen asleep during the short walk here. Not really that surprising, he spent so much of the daytime sleeping. “Think we should wake him? He might nap better at home if we do.”
“Well be my guest and wake him, but if he starts fussing he is most definitely your son.” She sat down on the bench and kept an eye on Daisy up until she was supposed to go and push her on the swings. “You see if you can get him awake.”
“All right.” Severus gave his wife a little smirk, then moved to wake his son. If it wasn’t for the lack of sleep, this would be the perfect day.
