Since he’d seen Loras Wednesday night, Renly had been in a visibly better mood than he’d been in since the break had started and he’d been looking forward to the weekend ever since, because the weekend meant that Loras would be moving back in. He hadn’t told Myrcella yet, wanting it to be a surprise when Loras showed up on Saturday. They had decided that waiting till Saturday would give Loras plenty of time to pack and talk to the person he was currently renting from. Thursday night, Renly had gone over with the intention of helping Loras pack, but all things considered, they hadn’t actually gotten to the packing part for awhile after Renly had arrived, not that Renly was complaining one bit. He’d missed being with Loras and it had taken all his willpower the night they’d decided the break was over, to leave Loras at the restaurant with his teammates instead of taking him home, but Loras had been there for a reason and he’d wanted him to go and celebrate with his teammates.
Now, Renly was at home, waiting for Loras to show up and Myrcella was in her room, unaware that anything was going on.
There wasn’t a lot to pack. With him, Loras had brought the essentials, leaving furniture behind for Obi-Wan and when he’d moved into the small apartment, he’d made sure that it was furnished. Even though the break was over, once he’d packed everything and had the dogs in his larger car (a Sedan that he wasn’t entirely keen on), he’d looked back at the apartment and wondered if he wasn’t making the same mistake again. After a bit of frowning about it, he’d decided that it didn’t matter, so long as they weren’t looking at white picket fences together. That Myrcella was living with Renly now didn’t seem too much of a consequence to Loras. Their relationship had been better than that before, though, and he suddenly felt guilty as he walked toward the home he would be sharing with Renly again.
Not everything was packed, though. At least not in the car. There would be a few more trips back to the apartment for more, but Loras had a polished knight’s helmet tucked under one arm, the other hand full of dog leashes that had very large boxers at the end of them, panting and waiting as Loras opened the door to a home that didn’t quite feel like his own yet.
Myrcella had been laying on her bed reading and texting Jeremy when she heard a bit of commotion outside. Wondering if her Uncle had a guest over she placed a bookmark in her book and lay it down on the bed before standing and moving to her door.
The last thing she had expected to see was Loras. She’d wanted to speak to him a number of times but had never known what to say. She’d liked him, they’d gotten along well before but part of her had felt like she was betraying her Uncle if she’d spoken to him and forgiven him for breaking her uncle’s heart. Even if Renly had assured her he didn’t want her to blame Loras. Frowning she looked at Renly, “What’s going on?” she asked him.
Renly knew that things weren’t going to be the same as they were before right away, but he could be patient and was just happy that Loras was back. Loras and the dogs. He’d gotten used to having the two dogs around before they’d moved back to England and upon moving back to Orange County the absence of the two boxers had been obvious. Upon letting Loras and the dogs in, he’d begun helping him move the things that had been packed in his car, but seeing Myrcella coming out of her room, Renly stopped what he was doing and smiled as he glanced over at Loras, “I would have told you sooner, but I kind of wanted it to be a surprise. Loras is moving back in.”
“Surprise?” Loras tried. He knew charm wouldn’t work on Myrcella, but he tried anyway. Maybe it would, maybe it wouldn’t. Either way, it was what he was accustomed to doing, habit if you would.
“It’s definitely surprising” Myrcella replied unsure how she was meant to react right now. Loras’ charm didn’t sway her into instantly forgiving him, she was worried about Renly. “So are you back together? Properly?” she asked looking between them both.
Renly knew that Myrcella had been extremely upset when he’d told her about the break, but he hoped that she would be able to forgive Loras, not that he really needed to be forgiven, because Renly had understood the younger man’s reasons for needing the break. As she poised her question, Renly’s smile widened slightly and he nodded, “Yeah. Yeah, we are.”
Properly. Loras supposed that it depended more on what Myrcella’s definition of proper happened to be, but Renly knew more than Loras did on that so he did not argue it. “Looks like I’ll have another dog walker,” he teased, moving to kiss Myrcella tentatively on her cheek.
Myrcella watched her Uncle carefully but he seemed honestly happy and she’d missed that so she let Loras kiss her cheek and after a moment’s hesitation hugged him. “I’m glad you’re back” she said quietly, “And the dogs too” she added before holding her arm out to Renly, “I want a group hug before I help you guys move stuff” she grinned at them both.
Renly watched, smiling as Loras moved to kiss Myrcella’s cheek before she hugged him. He was extremely happy that his niece was happy about this situation and didn’t seem upset at Loras. “I think I can do a group hug,” Still smiling, Renly joined them, wrapping an arm around each of them.
