Peter was still getting used to L.A. He really only had bus transportation to use ontop of it. So he’d exchanged numbers with Harry and sent him the address of a local pizza place. It would be good to catch up with his old friend. He remembered how often they used to play together while their parents worked at OsCorp. Those were good days, simple days. Days before everything got so confusing. Before his parents both vanished off the face of the Earth with no reason why.
It would be a mixed bag seeing Harry. But mostly good. Harry had always been a good friend to him. Peter didn’t have many of those. He intended to keep the ones he did have close. So he arrived a little early at the place he’d given his friend, and waited. He had a pair of earbuds in his ears as he sat in a window seat and watched the city go by. It certainly was different.
Honestly, Harry missed Europe. He liked having the distance from his father, but he’d just been getting used to New York again when he got sent out to Orange County. He was sure he would grow to like California in time. So he was beyond excited when Peter Parker of all people showed up. It was like a crazy blast from the past, and Harry never had many really good friends himself, apart from Peter. Maybe he’d get used to California a lot sooner.
He arrived at the pizza place and walked inside, taking off his sunglasses. Harry saw Peter almost immediately, smirking a bit when he saw his friend had earbuds in. He walked up to Peter and pulled one of the earbuds out. “Boo.”
He’d chosen that spot specifically so Harry would notice him. While Harry had been in the tabloids, Peter certainly hadn’t. Though he really didn’t look much different, except his hair was fluffier than it had been as a kid. He shouldn’t be that hard to notice.
Peter nearly dropped his ipod, but fortunately for him the earbuds were still stuck in his ears. “Jesus christ Harry.” He grinned as he tugged out said earbuds and caught the ipod, stuffing it in his pocket for the time being. “Don’t sneak up on me like that.” He shoved him playfully and then hugged his friend.
Harry just laughed, hugging Peter and giving him a clap on the back. “Wow, when did you hit this growth spurt? Holy shit.” He looked amused as he took a seat at the table and leaned back in the chair. “God, it’s just crazy to see you, you know?”
“I think so. Not exactly a shrimp anymore huh?” Seeing Harry hadn’t complicated things much after all. He was just glad to see him. Glad he had friends in the vicinity of the area at least. Percy wasn’t all that close, likely neither was Harry-but this counted. Because he thought so. “Finally picking out your own clothes there pal?” He grinned at him teasingly and looked him over again. “It’s good to see you Harry.” He warm look as he flagged down one of the servers and ordered at least a pizza, and then whatever Harry wanted.
“Nah, I pay someone to lay out my outfits before bed every day. If I don’t like what they pick, I just hire someone else,” Harry replies, grinning. “Maybe I’ll lend you my guy. You look like you could use some help.”
He sits up properly, ordering a pizza and the largest soda possible, then folds his hands on the table. “So. UCLA on a full scholarship. Always knew you were a smart guy, Pete.”
Peter laughed at that. He was glad his friend was there. It was going to make Orange County a lot easier for him to get used to at this rate. He never had been the popular kid. Having a friend in town to talk to was going to help immensely in not feeling totally alone. “I think that’s more of a hindrance than help.” He teased. “Besides, I wouldn’t want to rob you of the world supply of button downs.”
He also splurged on a large drink and gave a bit of a shy laugh at that. “Yeah. I was offered one to Empire State too, but..Aunt May thought it might be better if I got out of the city for a while.” He shrugged as if it were no big deal, but if he had it his way he would still be in New York. He’d likely have moved down town.
Harry nodded as he listened, sipping on his soda. “Empire State. Not too shabby, Parker.” A smile quirked up the corner of his mouth. “Aunt May does know best. In any case, I’m glad you ended up coming out here. Like fate.” He laughed.
“Thanks. And look at you. Oscorp in your future.” He just grinned at him as he leaned back and got comfortable. He always had been in Harry’s presence since they’d known eachother so long now. He could still remember playing hide and seek in New York’s Oscorp all day long, or whatever other silly game they’d come up with to entertain themselves. “Me too. Now.” He admitted with a sheepish smile. “I wasn’t all that excited at first, I actually had wanted to move down town..but Aunt May didn’t think it would help things..”Things had gotten rough in New York for a while. But he skirted around it s much as he could. He didn’t want to think about his parents.
Harry just snorted a bit. Honestly, he wasn’t ever really certain his father would trust him with OsCorp. Maybe Norman just thought there was still time to groom Harry. Whatever the case, Harry won’t question it. Instead he gives Peter a large grin. “Well, remind me to send May a thank you letter.”
Whatever it was, he was glad he had a friend in Orange County. Whatever it meant for them in the future was uncertain, all he knew was it was going to make things easier on him now. It had been a little intimidating not knowing anyone at first, but this solved that problem. "And you would too." He chuckled and waited for their pizza to arrive. "Place is supposed to have the best 'New York' style, guess we'll be the judges of that eh?" He remarked in a horrible New York accent.
