Who:D'Artagnan and Athos
What:A date and a key
When:Backdated just shortly after Athos' text
Where:A fancy restaurant
Warnings/ratings:Pg-13ish? but low. Mostly fluff. :3
Status:complete!
Athos had decided that he and D’Artagnan should go on a proper date. So far they’d mostly spent time together at his place, which while being nice wasn’t the same as being out together. So he’d text D’Artagnan to tell him that when he got home from work that evening he was taking him out for dinner. Aramis and Porthos knew now and had been pretty decent about it - apart from the occasional joke now and then - mostly at Athos’ expense and he kind of wanted it to be known that D’Artagnan was officially off the market. Not that he was possessive or anything. No, of course not.
He’d booked a pretty nice restaurant and had even made an extra effort to look good, checking his appearance in the mirror he shook his head at himself. He felt almost like a teenager again, nervous about a first date which was ridiculous and fun all at the same time. Getting into his car he made the drive to D’Artagnan’s place pretty quickly and found himself standing on the doorstep ringing the bell.
When he'd received that text about an actual date, he really wasn't sure how to respond, except that he’d be ready. It'd been a long time since he was out on a proper date. He had no idea how to act on one. His last girlfriend hadn't ended well, and now he supposed this date officially made Athos his boyfriend. He really didn't want it to end just as badly. He knew how to act at Athos' home, and in public on police business. But he had very little reference for dates. And yet he was looking forward to it. His stomach a bag of mixed emotion as he finished getting ready. He'd reacted all right to Aramis and Porthos's ribbing at least, mentally he seemed prepared. Now it was just the physical side he was worrying over last second.
D'Artagnan stared at the mirror in his bathroom for a good long while making sure to take extra care in his appearance. It wasn't so often that he cared, but Athos was a special case. He was just running a comb through his hair when he heard that doorbell and tensed. It only lasted a moment before he splashed some water on his face to shake it off, toweled off and made his way to the door. "Athos." He smiled warmly at him as he looked him over. “You look good.” He grinned a little brighter and reached for his keys on the hook near the door.
When D’Artagnan opened the door Athos smiled as his gaze took him in, he looked very very good and Athos was tempted to suggest they blew off the meal and stayed in. But the whole point of this was not to do that. “So do you” he replied, “Looks like we both scrub up rather well” he teased lightly, “Ready?” he asked, “I booked the table for seven thirty but if we’re early we can always grab a drink first” he added. He got the feeling that D’Artagnan was just as nervous as he was so a relaxing drink might be the way to go.
Had he offered, he might have been very tempted to stay in as well. But getting out was special. He was sure once he got past the nerves he would appreciate it more. He chuckled at that. “I may have had some help.” There had been a few pictures sent to friends before he settled on an outfit. “Yeah. The door has been sticking though so I’ll just check that it’s locked.” He heard the click, but lately he wasn’t sure if that click meant anything, since the night before it’d clicked and didn’t lock. He tested the door this time and shrugged. “Guess it’s okay now.” And followed Athos toward the car. “Yeah. That sounds good. Just no more tequila.” He smirked some, that had been his drink of choice against Aramis a few weeks back. He would be avoiding that one for a while now. “Do I get to know where we’re going yet?”
The idea that D’Artagnan had asked for help with his outfit was kind of adorable and Athos found himself intrigued to know exactly how that help had come about. It was sweet that he’d put so much effort in though, it made Athos feel better about worrying about his own appearance. He frowned when D’Artagnan explained about the door, “I’ll take a look at it tomorrow if you like” he offered, not liking the idea of it not being safe for him.
Chuckling as they got to the car, Athos unlocked it, “Definitely no more tequila” he agreed, knowing how rough D’Artagnan had been the morning after the night with Aramis. “A little place I know on the beach front. Kind of an eclectic mix of dishes but all very good”
An eyebrow lifted at Athos' offer to fix the door and the corners of his lips tugged into a little smirK. "Is there anything you can't do?" as the car was unlocked he slid into the passenger side and buckled himself in. "You don't need to worry about it. It's okay." At the very least he slept with a gun near by. If someone did dare break in, he wasn't helpless. "I haven't had the time to hire someone over to fix it. They always want to show up while I'm at work, so obviously that isn't going to work." He shrugged and leaned back to get comfy.
He winced at the memory of the night of drinks and then his own added tequila. Since then he hadn't had as much to drink. He wasn't typically big on alcohol. Athos didn't have to worry about that often at least. But they were grown men, and it wasn't as though they were out of control. Special occasions and holidays were meant for it. But this night wasn't meant for worry so he banished those thoughts. "It sounds amazing. What'd I do to get treated all fancy?" He smiled shyly at him. "You didn't need to go through all this trouble for me." But he did like the fact that Athos wanted to take him out, even though he was perfectly content to lounge around the man's home. He was not a very high maintenance boyfriend that required fancy meals or things from Athos. Just his time and attention was all he wanted.
Athos chuckled, “Not much I’ll admit to, no” he smiled as he looked over at D’Artagnan. He knew the other man could take care of himself but that didn’t mean he wasn’t going to worry or help if he could. “Why hire someone when I can do it?” he said easily, “And I won’t show up while you’re at work” he added as he pulled the car away from the sidewalk.
As long as nobody got hurt or in trouble Athos wouldn’t interfere, he’d fought and won his way through a year of drowning his sorrows and now had an understanding with alcohol. He wasn’t about to judge others. “I’m glad you think so. We’ll have a nice time I hope” then he shrugged, “Figured we should actually date officially you know? I mean the others know now so there’s nothing stopping us. Maybe I want to show you off” Athos had gathered D’Artagnan was the opposite of high maintenance and appreciated it a lot
"A chance to see you with a tool belt? I'd hope you wouldn't while I was gone." He teased and offered him a shrug. "Who am I to turn down that offer?" D'Artagnan clearly wasn't very good with tools or handyman types of things, but he appreciated those who were. He was all smiles that night. He had been since that text and he couldn't help it. Any more and his face was going to start hurting.
He gave Athos a side glance. "Does this mean I can officially call you boyfriend then?" They hadn't actually discussed titles, D'Artagnan felt awkward at times just calling him 'friend' when he was so much more. He glanced over again at him. "As long as I'm with you it doesn't matter where we are, I'm sure it'll be great.' Since the night out with Aramis he'd been spending a great deal of time at Athos' place. He found it more comforting than his own apartment these days. Whenever he got the opportunity he would much rather have been with him than at home. The comment about showing him off earned a shy smile and a rosey hue to his cheeks despite his attempts to hide it. "Flattery will get you everywhere." He teased as he turned to watch the world pass them by.
Actually Athos did have a tool belt but he didn’t mention that he simply glanced over at D’Artagnan and winked. “Great, it won’t take long anyway” he replied easily. Athos was pretty handy when it came to most things, he liked working with his hands and was a fairly decent DIY man. He liked the accomplishment of completing a job. He’d noticed D’Artagnan’s happiness and hoped he was part of the reason.
Smiling Athos nodded, “Yeah, guess it does” he said, reaching across to take D’Artagnan’s hand in his and he linked their fingers. ‘Friend’ definitely didn’t say enough and ‘other half’ was okay but still not as straightforward as ‘boyfriend’. He squeezed D’Artagnan’s hand, “I’m glad you think so and honestly I do prefer to keep you to myself most of the time but the odd date night might be fun too” Athos enjoyed having D’Artagnan around, he was already as comfortable with him there as he was alone. Which spoke volumes.
Athos was a crazy man if he didn't think he was the reason behind all those smiles. D'Artagnan wasn't the sort who just gave them away without reason. "Besides all that, a chance to get you at my place, who could pass that up?" He chewed at his thumb nervously as the car ride continued. Everything seemed to be going well, but they hadn't done the fancy night out thing yet and he didn't want to blow it. The idea that he could now freely call Athos his boyfriend was nice, he didn't have to worry about who might have hurt feelings anymore. Though the chances were he didn't in the first place. Aramis had been pretty easy going about the whole thing, which meant he meant what he said about not doing love. At least when it'd come to D'Artagnan. That might have stung his pride had he not found someone like Athos instead. He was exactly what D'Artagnan needed. Someone steadfast.
“I’m happy to stay at yours anytime you’d prefer” Athos told him, worried that D’Artagnan thought Athos didn’t like his place. They did always seem to end up at Athos’ but D’Artagnan hadn’t seemed to mind too much. He seemed comfortable there anyway, he even had a few items of clothing and, of course, his own toothbrush. Athos wondered if the key sitting in his pocket would give the wrong impression now.
Shaking himself out of that he glanced at D’Artagnan and frowned slightly, “Hey” he said, “What’s up? You look like you’re thinking in a frowny way” If there was anything Athos was it was steadfast. He was loyal and committed especially to his friends and loved ones.
"I like yours better really." He didn't mind which place they ended up at, but Athos place was definitely more comfortable than his own. He hadn't even realized he'd spaced out until Athos nudged him about it. "Hm? Oh. Nothing, I was just thinking I actually sort of hate my apartment these days." He mused, that smile returning. His thumb brushing against Athos's hand as he held it. He had no intention of letting it go unless Athos needed it to drive of course. Otherwise he'd intended to hold it hostage.
"Maybe once I actually do something to it we can stay at mine though." He was already considering designs, which was odd. "Before I met you I never really considered it home. It was a roof, but not much else I guess." He shrugged a bit, letting Athos in on his random thought process. He hadn't meant to make him think he was unhappy, he was entirely the opposite of that.
As soon as he’d arrived Athos had immediately set about making the place the Agency had found for him into a home. The work they did was stressful enough without coming home to a place you couldn’t relax in. At D’Artagnan’s confession he raised their joined hands and pressed his lips to the back of D’Artagnan’s, placing a soft kiss there.
“You know you’re always welcome” he said, knowing he’d said it before, “And if you want help doing something to yours I’m more than happy to lend a hand and my DIY skills” he grinned. “You need a home, somewhere safe and comfortable to come back to at the end of the day” he said, deciding now was as good a time as ever. Not letting go of D’Artagnan’s hand he moved it to his inner jacket pocket and pulled out the key. “I was going to give this to you over dinner but now seems appropriate” he explained.
He watched him with a small smile at the touch of his lips. When it came to being with Athos, he felt like he could actually be himself. He didn't have to worry about how to react to him or think ahead of what to say. Athos didn't put any pressure on him to be someone he wasn't and he was comfortable around him. There weren't many he could say that about lately. He often seemed to make a fool of himself.
D'Artagnan hadn't even seen that coming when Athos stopped to present that key. " I know..What's this?" He asked curiously and listened to the mans explanation. It was true, when he felt like he needed to be with someone Athos was the first he thought of these days. He was the first person D'Artagnan wanted to see. "Now you're really never going to get rid of me." He said with a small laugh as he waited to accept the key from him. "You didn't have to do this.." He was sort of in awe, nobody had given him a key like that before.
Athos would be glad to know D’Artagnan felt like that, it’s what he wanted him to feel. Because there was no reason not to be himself, Athos liked him exactly as he was. No pretense, no lies, just D’Artagnan. It’s how Athos felt when he was with the younger man too, there was no need for the shield he’d built up around himself.
“I wanted to” Athos told him once D’Artagnan had the key in his hand, “My home is yours D’Artagnan, whenever you need or want it to be. I told you before my plan was to keep you, this is just part of that plan” he smiled.
The smile on his face only brightened as Athos put the key in his hand. "I'm all yours." He said with a laugh and leaned forward to kiss him. He wasn't even thinking about nerves now. Athos wanted him. He genuinely wanted him around. So many of those feelings he had of being a possible burden were lifted at that simple gesture. "Now you're stuck with me." He murmured inches from his lips before he claimed them in an affectionate kiss. There was no place he felt safer than with Athos. It wasn't a feeling D'Artagnan had much experience with growing up, so when he had it as an adult he was going to cling to it.
When D’Artagnan smiled so brightly Athos felt his heart skip a little, he looked so happy and he had an irrepressible urge to always see him this way. “Glad to hear it because I’m all yours too” he said before their lips met. D’Artagnan’s reaction had been much more than he’d hoped for and it made him relax even more. He wanted the other man around all the time, that was what the key was saying. Athos didn’t get a chance to respond to his second comment before his lips were being claimed once more but he didn’t mind, instead he pulled him closer and deepened the kiss.
If Athos wasn't careful he'd end up suggesting they get take out instead at this rate. He'd slipped the key into the pocket of his coat for safe keeping. And then one of his hands slid to rest on Athos' chest as that kiss deepened for support. The secrecy of the relationship in the beginning was fun, but this stage was also. Now he could kiss him in public and didn't even have to care who saw. His body shifted a bit uncomfortably in the seat though as he attempted to get into that embrace and continue to kiss him. His hand running down Athos' chest to his leg where it came to rest eventually as he got into an easier position.
In hindsight it may have been wiser to gift D'Artagnan the key once they were inside the restaurant but he couldn't really say he minded the position they were currently in. Public kissing held a whole new thrill, one which previously Athos hadn't been overly keen on but now found he rather enjoyed these public displays of affection. When he felt that hand rest on his leg though he reluctantly pulled back, "I think I promised you dinner" he said breathing not unaffected from their activities.
“Hmm..oh, right. Dinner.” He grinned at him again and gave his hand a squeeze. “Don’t suppose they’d bring it to us out here do you?” He teased as he undid his seatbelt and climbed out of the car. He got out to look up to the sky, the wind gently caressing his face. He hadn’t felt more at ease than this in a very long time. His childhood had been full of uncertainty but for once in his life everything was stable. He didn’t feel like he had to struggle just to survive as much anymore, he was doing much more than that. He joined Athos and took his hand again, letting their fingers lace together as he walked beside him. “This place is perfect.”
Athos laughed, “You don’t know how tempted I am to ask them to” he replied before he got out of the car as well. Making his way around the car after locking it he looked at D’Artagnan, he occasionally had to remind himself that he could look and touch all he wanted now they were officially together. “I’m glad you like it, I’ve always found it to be in a great location as well as serving up good food” he said squeezing his fingers as they walked towards the entrance.
The corners of his lips tugged into a smirk at the idea or Athos even suggesting he get them to come serve them in the car. He was guessing if Athos really wanted to he probably could order them into it. He seemed the sort that would have an easy time getting troops or in this case-bus boys to do as he said. It was a little strange at first, holding hands in public without worrying who might be looking over their shoulders. But it was also nice. They no longer had to hide. He'd found it especially difficult around Porthos and Aramis since he'd actually thought of wanting to tell them at times. "I'm glad telling the others didn't make this complicated.." He admitted as they headed for the restaurant.
"I'm sure it'll be perfect." He smiled as he followed Athos, letting him take the lead wherever he wanted to go.
In truth Athos probably could get them to serve food to the car, he had a natural leadership about him which people seemed to respond to. Which worked well for him in his line of work thankfully. It was strange to be able to hold hands in public but really good, “Yeah, I’m glad too” he nodded, “Though no matter how they reacted it wouldn’t have changed my wanting to be with you” he added, before pushing open the door and nodding to the waiter as they were shown to the table he’d reserved. It was in front of the large window with a view out over the water.
D'Artagnan didn't really have that ability. He was able to connect to people more than he was aware though, so maybe that was something that could be useful. However it wouldn't get dinner brought and served to them. His thumb toyed with Athos' hand as they went toward the table. Just lost for a while in his own happy little daze. And then he smiled sheepishly. "Really?" He was able to be swayed by others opinions a bit more, but when there was something he wanted he too couldn't be stopped. "Me either." He leaned his head against Athos' shoulder until they reached the table. He reluctantly let go of him as he was seated and looked out over the view. "You didn't have to go through all this trouble." But he did admit, he liked the idea of Athos trying to woo him. It made him feel wanted. Athos clearly wasn't embarrassed to take him out, it was a good feeling.
Being able to connect with people was definitely a skill which would come in handy, even if it wouldn’t get them served. “Of course. At the end of the day we’re happy right? That matters more than approval” he told D’Artagnan warmly. Athos was harder to sway especially in matters such as this, he hadn’t been this happy for years so he was grabbing it with both hands and holding on. He dropped a kiss to the top of D’Artagnan’s head before they separated to take their seats at the table. “I wanted to, I get to treat my boyfriend on date night” he teased even though he could feel himself blush slightly. As he picked up the menu he also retook one of D’Artagnan’s hands. The other man wasn’t wrong in thinking Athos was wooing him, he was rather enjoying it as well.
The effort wasn't lost on D'Artagnan. He appreciated the amount of thought that went into everything Athos had chosen. The location alone had won him over, and the fact that he got to eat food at it made it that much better. He smiled contentedly as Athos took his hand and he caressed it idly. "Mhm. I've never really had anyone like this. I mean there was one girl after high school, but it didn't end well. " He chuckled a bit. "She actually was trying to scam me, but I had nothing worth taking. There was no connection. I wanted there to be so I kept giving her chances, but.." He trailed off with a shrug. "Long story short I eventually I ended up being her arresting officer. Sort of kills any potential romance." He was a bit amused at the story actually, it didn't matter too much in the long run. It wasn't like what he had with Athos. Athos was special, the connection was strong. He wanted to spend every waking minute with him, and he hadn't felt that with her.
"Boyfriend." He repeated the word just to see how it sounded on his own lips and was pleased with the result. In the past he might have felt self conscious about public displays of affection, but not so much anymore. He just didn't care, he liked the attention from Athos and that was what mattered. He didn't care what anyone else in that restaurant thought. "Maybe I should let you order for me then, because I have no idea what half of this is." He admitted as he put the menu down, a little embarrassed at that, but he wasn't used to fancy type places or food.
It had been a long time since Athos had been on a date and he’d wanted his and D’Artagnan’s first official one to be perfect. Or as close to perfect as possible at least. “Oh ouch, yeah I can’t imagine that helped the relationship at all” Athos said his own fingers stroking D’Artagnan’s as they talked, “but it does sound like she didn’t deserve you anyway. And in the long run it worked out well for us”
Athos smiled as he repeated the word, he liked the sound of it when D’Artagnan said it even more. It was odd that such a private person wasn’t put off by public displays of affection but with D’Artagnan it felt natural and right and half the time he wasn’t even aware he was doing it. “Of course, I’ll order us a selection platter so you can try a number of dishes” Athos agreed easily, there was no need for D’Artagnan to feel bad. Athos just hoped he enjoyed it, while the food may be very good the atmosphere wasn’t harsh or foreboding like a lot of very fine restaurants.
“I went to see her once in prison once, but I wasn’t terribly attached after the fact.” He shrugged a bit. “I must have been an idiot letting her have so many chances to disappear. She kept leaving for days at a time, and then she’d show up and expect that I’d want to take her out with no real explanation to where she’d been? I should have caught on sooner.” He made a face at the memory. “After that girls sort of lost their appeal on me I guess, I haven’t really been paying them much mind.”
D’Artagnan on the other hand was basically an open book when it came to his emotion. His heart was often on his sleeve, for better or worse. D’Artagnan wasn’t put off by the restaurant at all, he just didn’t know how to order in upscale places. He’d watch Athos take care of it and be all the more impressed with him. He was enjoying the affection and attention. This is what an actual date was supposed to feel like. It was new, and nice, and D’Artagnan spent much of the evening contently chatting away with him. No more nerves stopping him from enjoying the meal and company, just relaxing the more he let Athos take control of things. He felt comfortable with him showing him the sort of things he liked, D’Artagnan didn’t really have any frame of reference for them until now.
Dinner was nice and light hearted as it ought to have been. And after they finished, D’Artagnan found his way back to Athos’ side. He felt safe beside him. “That was perfect. And you claim Aramis is the only charmer.” He teased him gently.
Athos was pleased that D’Artagnan seemed to relax more as the night went on and it was fun to see what he liked and didn’t like from the selection the chef had prepared. It was natural for Athos to take control and he was glad D’Artagnan didn’t seem to mind, he didn’t want him to think Athos was being pushy or anything. He liked feeding the other man morsels of food to try and they both enjoyed the meal immensely. The food was superb and the company simply made it perfect. Once they had finished and moved to a comfortable loveseat in the bar area of the small restaurant, a cozy spot that made them feel more private, Athos’ arm naturally found it’s way around D’Artagnan. He liked the comfort of having him close.
“I’m glad you enjoyed it” Athos said before he chuckled, “Charm isn’t usually something I’m complimented on, there’s obviously something about you” he smiled before leaning in to kiss D’Artagnan’s lips softly.
He actually enjoyed seeing that side of Athos that could take the lead when need be. D’Artagnan wasn’t always a leader type. He had some of the qualities, but he felt more comfortable with someone who knew what they were doing. It helped gain his trust only that much quicker. He hadn’t been terribly fond of anything fishy, but he had been willing to try all of it the way Athos kept tempting him. Food was definitely the way to his heart even if he didn’t admit it.
D’Artagnan rested against Athos’ chest contentedly. A wine glass in hand. Occasionally he still glanced at others near by, but nobody seemed to even pay them any mind. He was glad for it. “Bit odd isn’t it. This? I don’t know that it’s the same feelings in the dreams, but even there you were my best friend. Strange how they parallel.” He thought out loud before he was silenced by a gentle kiss, which he returned affectionately. His free hand resting against the one that held him.
Athos was learning the ways to D’Artagnan’s heart and memorising each and every one of them. Hoarding them away like the precious secrets they were.
“Odd in only the best way I hope?” Athos teased when they parted for air, “But you’re right that the feelings are similar, I know I feel as protective and proud of you here as I do there. I’m far luckier here though, dream me is missing so much” he whispered in his ear before kissing D’Artagnan’s neck. Sitting with D’Artagnan here was relaxing Athos a lot, he’d not been drinking since he’d driven them here but he didn’t seem to need to. He was intoxicated by this close comfortableness between them and it made him a lot looser with his words and feelings than he usually was.
He hadn't had much to drink at all, he'd certainly learned from his last drunken escapade that it wasn't the way to go when morning burned him. He did enjoy the occasional wine though hence his order, but he was entirely happy to share it if Athos wanted any. He placed it down on the table in front of them as Athos continued to whisper sweet nothings at him, and it caused a reddish hue to fill his cheeks and he looked away shyly. " Me too." He responded, feeling kinda dumb for it. Athos was good at the sweet talking, and that was the best he could come up with on the spot. He was quite taken by him. He tilted his head a little as Athos kissed at his neck, and his hand toyed with the back of the mans neck gently. Fingers teasing the skin softly. "You're too good to me."
Athos smiled as D’Artagnan blushed and looked away, he kind of loved that he could cause that reaction in the other man. It reminded him how genuine he was and how Athos must always treasure that. Had he voiced his thoughts Athos would have reassured him that the sweet talking didn’t usually come naturally to him and D’Artagnan himself was doing fine. “Not at all” Athos said, cuddling him close, “You deserve the best in everything though I’m afraid you’ll just have to make do with me” he smiled somewhat wryly.
It was nice just being able to relax with him despite being some place public. He was surprised Athos wanted to touch him so much with how private he was normally. When he first met Athos, he was actually a little intimidated by him too. But now it was like second nature. Now he didn't want to be a part from him. He hoped it wasn't obnoxious or anything, but D'Artagnan basically wanted to be attached to his side whenever he was able. D'Artagnan really wasn't capable of being anything but genuine. He was awful at lying in any form and easily read like a book. "I've far more than 'just 'made do Athos” This time it was him that leaned in to kiss him sweetly. "I've never imagined I'd get this lucky.”
He was a private man but it seemed his need to reassure D’Artagnan that he was serious about them overrode that. He didn’t mind, it was only handholding and a little kissing. He wasn’t about to ravish D’Artagnan on the coffee table, though the mental image of doing so made him smile. It had, however, almost become an unconscious action to take D’Artagnan’s hand or drop an arm around his shoulders when they were walking or sitting together. It was definitely not obnoxious for D’Artagnan to want to be with Athos, in fact it was welcomed. “Me either” he agreed, kissing him again, “Did you want another drink or shall we go home?” he asked softly against his lips.
The fact that Athos had taken him out at all had already convinced him he was quite serious. The small touches were just enough to put it over the top. He'd actually entirely forgotten about his drink with Athos' affections. It didn't even dawn on him to think of another until he was asked and smiled then. "Lets go home. Think I've shared you enough. I want you to myself now." He returned that kiss this time a bit more teasingly, sucking gently at his lower lip and then sliding coyly up and reluctantly away from him.
“My thoughts exactly” Athos groaned quietly as D’Artagnan teased, he was a fast learner and no doubt would drive him wild. Athos was very much looking forward to it. Following D’Artagnan up he took hold of his hand and pulled him close for another kiss before they left the restaurant, saying goodnight to the owner who looked at them with a kind smile on his face and a wave. They’d have to come back here again, it was nice and welcoming. But right now Athos just wanted to get them home so he could kiss and touch D’Artagnan properly. “Mmm come on, home” he said breaking the kiss he’d stolen, “Before I ravish you against the car” he added with a grin as he opened the car door for him.
That teasing touch had exactly the effect D'Artagnan hoped it would and he was pleased as Athos followed him. His hand tangled up briefly in the other mans shirt as he was pulled so close Nobody even seemed phased when Athos obviously wanted it known that D'Artagnan was taken and kissed him so boldly in that owners line of sight. The younger man was happy with the outcome and laughed at that. He returned that kiss and murmured teasingly against his lips, his own turning upward into a subtle smirk, "You say this like it's a bad idea." The car would be quite uncomfortable, but the idea did amuse him. Plus he had to admit he wanted to see Athos’ reaction to the comment more than anything. The restaurant had been nice, after seeing all the discrimination against gay couples D’Artagnan had worried a little about that. But nobody seemed to give a damn. So he was relieved and content with how the evening had turned out. It had been perfect. He felt special, and that wasn’t a thing he was used to feeling until he met Athos.
He might have been staking a little bit of a claim it was true, but he couldn’t be blamed he was sure. After all people needed to know not to get ideas when it came to his man, D’Artagnan was far too tempting for his own good. “Such a bloody temptation” Athos ground out at D’Artagnan’s response kissing him once more before swatting him on the ass, “Home. Where I can do the things I want to do to you without risk of us getting arrested” Athos had made sure when picking the restaurant that it wouldn’t have a problem with discrimination, that wasn’t the kind of thing he’d stand for. Not when he had wanted D’Artagnan to feel special, which he very much was.
D’Artagnan didn’t mind it in the least. It just meant more Athos, and that was something he would never complain about. That amusement only grew in his eyes as Athos made those sounds. And then that smack caused one from him, and a laugh as he slid into the open waiting door and gave him a sultry little wink. “I think we’d never live it down if we had to call the others to bail us out for that..” He grinned and waited almost impatiently but fortunately for him, home wasn’t far away, and then the evening could continue.
