Tatia quickly dropped the cell phone onto the bed. She couldn’t get herself to press the send button after she typed in the message. Running her hair through his fingers as she turned away from the phone and the bed. This was a lot harder than she thought it was going to be. She turned around and looked down at the cell phone on the bed.
Ten.
Ten whole seconds.
That was the time frame that she would give herself to think about what she was texting. She had to be sure it was what she wanted to say and especially how she wanted to say it. It wasn’t as if she was telling. She was just asking something. She thought that it would be easier to do this but it wasn’t. She couldn’t believe she was going to text her father about this. It was a big step. She hadn’t even asked Kol about it yet. Asking Kol about it would come after she got a response from her father. She was wanting to know what he said before she went any further.
She still couldn’t believe that she had typed that out. That she was asking if she could bring Kol over for dinner. She didn’t even have the father of Aiden meet her dad. Well he wouldn’t be alive if they had met. Now she was thinking about taking that step and even the words typed on her cell phone looked weird. It didn’t look like a natural way to ask. Robotic and stiff. It didn’t sound like she was asking him at all. It was like someone else was asking him. It made her think that there was only one response that he would have. No. She didn’t want that. She wanted this relationship to go somewhere and it wouldn’t unless this happened. At least she didn’t think that it would go anywhere without it.
“One, two, three, four, five, six, seven,” she started counting to herself as she took a breath, “eight, nine, ten.”
As she finished saying the number ten she picked up the cell phone. She had to send it. She wasn’t going to get an answer if she kept on staring at it. She knew that Kol was all this nervousness and awkward feelings. He made her feel way more than that and that was all that mattered to her. She would hope that was all that mattered to her father too and that he would answer back quickly. Also that the answer would be a bolded yes. That way she could ask Kol about it and get it all set up. She was pretty sure that she didn’t have to worry about what Kol would say. That and she wouldn’t have to text him. She could just roll over in bed and ask him.
That would bring a whole other set of nerves. She would be worrying about how they dinner would go and what they would think of each other.
A deep sigh as she closed her eyes and pressed the send button.
It was done.
