Who: Edward Cullen What: Mulling over married life Rating: G
Tonight was one of those restless nights, a night where he had too much weighing on his mind to properly sleep, or take comfort in his sleeping wife right next to him. Gently kissing Bella on the head he quietly slid out of bed and tip toed down the hall to check on Nessie. Sound asleep as she should be. Good. That was one worry off his mind.
Sitting on the couch he rubbed his temples and sighed. Working was getting to him. It was exhausting working all these shifts to try and work towards his medical degree, he missed out on so many important moments involving is wife and daughter, but it would all be worth it in the end. He would be able to give his family the life they deserved, and maybe, just maybe, Charlie wouldn’t want to take his gun and shoot him every time they saw each other.
However, his work schedule wasn’t the issue today. What WAS the issue is that his anniversary was coming up soon and he still had no idea how to give Bella the anniversary she deserved. He supposed he could have his parents watch Nessie for the weekend and take her to a cabin on the lake and have a romantic anniversary. Or, even better, he could take Nessie with him and they could celebrate as a family.
He smiled as their puppy bounded out of Nessie’s room where he vigilantly kept watch over Nessie’s crib nightly. Alice must have struck again because the dog was wearing a cute designer shirt for pets, and looked entirely miserable at the same time. “I know, she sinks her claws into me too,” he told the dog with a grin as he took the shirt off Alice. “Don’t worry, we’ll only wear this when she’s around, I won’t tell if you wont.”
He laughed as the dog ran off, hearing Nessie cry before the pitiful wails reached his ears. Walking quickly to the room, he scooped the little girl out of her crib and held her close, kissing her head gently. “Shhh, I’m here. I’m here. Daddy is here and daddy loves you. You’re going to help daddy plan a wonderful anniversary weekend for mommy in a few months, yes you are, yes you are.” He grinned as the little girl stopped her crying and looked up at him with a smile on her face. She was obviously a daddy’s girl and while she might not understand what he was saying, she was enthralled by what he was saying.
Carrying her out into the living room, Edward grabbed a bottle for her, sitting the girl in her high chair and handing it to her. She was growing up so fast, able to hold her own bottle and feed herself somewhat. He was not prepared for her growing up so quickly. “My next order of business after making sure mommy has the day of her dreams is to make sure you stop growing up. Daddy needs you to be his little girl forever.”
