If Elsa had thought seeing her girlfriend as an eight year old was strange then discovering her sister had reverted to being a three year old was just as odd. And since their parents were out of town it was down to Elsa to look after Anna.
That was how she came to be sitting in her living room with the 'children' wondering when it was all going to end. It wasn't that they were particularly badly behaved it was just unnerving for Elsa, who wasn't really that equipped to handle two children.
Anna was on the floor with a pair of dolls. One of the dolls had white-blonde hair, and the other was a strawberry redhead. She was making the pair dance together and talk to each other, mostly about snowmen named Olaf and eating chocolates.
Kate had given up trying to think 'big' and started to revert to more how she was when she was eight. Which was in two words, quiet and studious. Her twin had been the energetic and boisterous one, and she was leaning back against the couch with a book that she'd all but begged Elsa to get her. She overheard the word chocolate and then turned big green eyes at Elsa. "Can we have some chocolate?"
Elsa wasn’t sure where the toys had come from but they felt somewhat familiar. It was strange, though not the strangest thing to be happening right now if she was honest. Kate was a revelation to Elsa, she was so quiet and calm as she read by herself. Elsa hadn’t had the heart to say no when she’d asked for it. “I think there is some in the kitchen, but it might have tried to hide itself. Shall we all go and see if we can find it?” she suggested.
Anna heard someone else use the word--one of her favorites, actually--and her ears perked up. She sat up and turned to look over at Elsa. Though she hadn’t been de-aged as far as her personality went, she was finding it difficult to keep her mind ‘big,’ so to speak, when her body was so small. “Chocolate?” She added, then jumped to her own feet. “I know where it is!!” She said, then dropped her dolls and went running pell mell into the kitchen. Of course, her foot hit the kitchen rug in a weird way, and sent her sprawling.
Thinking big was definitely hard. Kate bounced up as well and nearly tripped over Anna. She hopped over the girl then turned to help her to her feet. "Oof! You're heavy!"
"Slowly" Elsa called after them and sighed, everything had to be a mile a minute. When Anna went sprawling Elsa hurried over, "Anna are you okay?" she asked in concern.
Anna started calling out “I’m okay!” nearly the second her backside hit the floor, but then let Kate help her back up onto her feet. “I’m okay!” She repeated for the sixth time, then moved over to the cupboard… but, of course, the chocolate was in the cupboard that was at adult shoulder height, and Anna was nowhere near tall enough to reach it now. She started pointing and jumping, whimpering.
“I know!” Kate, being the genius, picked Anna up and managed to get her onto her shoulders. “Quickly! Get the chocolate!” Like this was some how safe.
“Oh no” Elsa said hurrying over to lift Anna from Kate’s shoulders, having horrible visions of Anna falling as she had in the garden years ago. “You mustn’t do that. Anna could get hurt if she fell, you both could” she scolded. “If you just wait I can get it for you” she reached into the cupboard, Anna now safely on the floor, and retrieved the chocolate bars which were in there.
Anna thought being on Kate’s shoulders was the best idea ever, and reached up as high as she could. She managed to get the cupboard open before Elsa came over and took Anna off of Kate’s shoulders. “Chocolate! Chocolate!!” Anna cried out playfully, reaching with grabby fingers for the bars that Elsa had just removed from the cupboard. “Oh-pen! Oh-pen!”
Kate pouted at her girlfriend, then bounced on her heels. “I can smell it already!” She picked Anna up again, though this time just holding her around the middle and lifting her up towards the chocolate.
Elsa rolled her eyes at the pair of them, before indicating with her free hand that Kate was to put Anna down. Once she was happy she undid two bars, leaving the wrappers around them in a vain hope that the mess would be limited before handing them over to the girls. “Eat them nicely” she said with a smile.
Anna couldn’t care less who was holding her, as long as she got to stuff some of the chocolate in her face. She gave an “Eee!” sound that was high pitched and excited, nearly kicking her feet in her giddiness, then snatched at the chocolate and started to nibble on it. Okay, more than nibble. If she wasn’t careful, she was going to eat the wrapper, too.
“Don’t wanna,” Kate said sullenly, before stuffing the bar into her mouth, heedless of the mess it made. While she had about half the energy that Anna did, there was an impending sugar high and she was going to enjoy the heck out of this! She started to bounce in place. “We should go somewhere I want to go somewhere.” Being a kid again? She instantly knew where they should go. Do you want to go to Disneyland?
Disneyland with two young children on a sugar high did not sound fun to Elsa so she thought fast to avoid that fate. “How about ice skating?” she suggested, “Does that sound fun enough for you?”
Anna gasped. “I WANT TO GO ICE SKATING!” she said, then bounced up and down on her heels. “Can we go now? I want to go now! Can we have hot chocolate when we get there??”
“I don’t remember the last time I went ice skating,” Kate said, forgetting about asking about Disneyland. “I’ll fall down lots!”
Elsa wasn’t sure why she had suggested ice skating, it had just been the first thing to come into her head. But the girls seemed to be keen, “I won’t let you fall” she promised Kate before smiling at both of them. “Okay so coats and gloves then we can head to the rink”
Kate looked at Elsa and opened her mouth to suggest they just turn the house into a skating rink, but then she decided not to freak Anna out. “Okay!”
Anna wasn’t sure she had a coat and gloves that would fit her in her three year old form, but she went running excitedly toward her room anyway, calling out “okay okay okay okay!”
“Look in the box at the back of your closet Anna, there should be some small things there” Elsa called out, “And go slowly” She turned to smile at Kate, “Let’s go find you something warm to wear too” she said.
"Okay," Kate said, holding her hand up to Elsa. She couldn't resist the joke. "When I grow up I think I want to marry someone like you."
