This isn’t a practical joke I promise!
Who: Kate Kane and Elsa What: Kate is tiny now When: 4/1 Where: Elsa's place Rating: PG status: Complete
It happened right at midnight. Kate had been in the middle of a zipline when she’d suddenly felt a lot lighter. She’d ended up hanging in the middle of the street and had to carefully clamber down the line in clothing that was much too big for her. She didn’t know what to do, so she went to the first safe place she could think of.
Clutching her Batwoman outfit around herself, she stood on her tippy toes and rang Elsa’s doorbell.
Elsa had been sleeping when the doorbell woke her up, frowning she wondered who it could be. Kate usually let herself in like Elsa had told her to do. Glancing at the clock she shook her head before heading down the stairs.
Opening the door her eyes widened, “Oh my god, are you okay?” she said bending down to the small childs height, “What are you doing out so late?”
“I am the night,” Kate said, sweeping her arms out and mimicing a tiny little girl Batman. She peered up at Elsa with big green eyes. “Uhm. I’m okay. This is weird. Elsa, you’re so big! It’s me, Kate!”
A pause. “This isn’t a practical joke I promise!”
"Kate!?" she explained, "Oh my, what happened? Who did this to you?" as she spoke Elsa ushered the little child version of her girlfriend inside. It was warmer in the house.
“I don’t know, I was out and then the next thing I knew I was small!” Kate’s voice cracked. It was much higher pitched than she was used to. Elsa’s place was huge from this angle. “It’s hard to...think like an adult.” She kind of wanted to just play.
"Oh, it's okay sweetheart. I'm sure everything will be okay" Elsa said with more confidence than she felt. "Don't worry. Maybe you should sleep, it is late"
“I’m sorry…” She shuffled her feet and wrapped herself up in her cloak. The entire outfit was so heavy, and she was exhausted.
Elsa all but melted on the spot, kneeling down she gathered Kate inyo her arms. "You don't need to apologise, at all" she said, "now lets get you something to sleep in" she rose with Kate still in her arms and made her way up to the bedroom.
“You’re good at this,” Kate said, yawning as she rested her head on Elsa’s shoulder. Elsa smelled so nice, and she hoped they didn’t get frozen over this.
"I had a little sister remember? We were close once" Elsa smiled, it hadn't occurred to her yet that in her haste she had left her gloves on the bedside table. Entering the bedroom she set Kate down on the bed then turned to look for something suitable to use as a nightdress.
Kate sat on the bed, kicking off her huge boots and swinging her legs as she watched Elsa root around for a night dress. Elsa was somehow a hundred times prettier than ever right now.
She found an old tshirt style nightie that was probably going to be their best bet for now so fishing it out of the drawer she turned to Kate. She had to admit she made a pretty adorable little kid, it was strange to feel the more grown up of the two. Kate was so much more knowledgeable than Elsa and had done so much more than she had. She couldn’t say she minded too much. “Come on then, let’s get you ready for bed” she smiled.
She chewed on her lip again, bouncing a little place. It was a nervous energy that she knew would soon be gone. "You're kinda enjoying this aren't you. This is weird, so weird!" She threw up her hands and then grabbed the shirt to change. It hung down to her knees and made her look even younger.
Elsa laughed softly, “Maybe a little” she admitted, “You’re just so adorable. I like being able to look after you” Then, because she couldn’t resist, she reached out to ruffle Kate’s hair.
The redhead squawked, flailing at her hair after it was ruffled and giving Elsa a pouty look, as though she’d just committed a cardinal sin. She lamented. “We are never telling my sister about this.” Then she flopped onto her back. It was like she was swallowed up in a sea of blankets.
Eight year old Kate was so cute it was almost ridiculous. And when she pouted Elsa couldn’t help but smile at her. “I promise” she said as she retrieved a glass of water from the bathroom to place on the bedside table before getting into bed. With any luck this would all go back to normal soon but in the meantime she was prepared to look after Kate.
