Hermione was excited to spend a night out with one of her girl friends. Actually, she was excited to get out of the house. Things between herself and Jim had been very awkward since the Alternate Universe episode not too long ago. Hermione was still trying to wrap her head around the idea that she’d mistaken Jim for his evil double. And that she’d slept with him. ...and that the sex was amazing.
She went to the coffee shop, wearing comfortable jeans and a sweater, and ordered a couple of nonfat lattes, then sat and waited for Fleur to show up. Movies, maybe? Drinks after? Whatever. She wanted to be out and about and not thinking about her husband.
Fleur tugged at her jacket and made her way to the coffee shop but not before dropping her dance bag in her car. The beginning of the year was always a crazy time with lessons, shows and everything in between so she had been excited to have the chance to have a day off. Otherwise she would have just found herself working or rehearsing because she had nothing else to do and she hated to sit around and be well, bored. She liked to have something to do. That and she hadn’t actually seen Hermione in a while so it would be a good change of pace.
“Hey,” she said lightly as she dropped into the seat across from her friend. “So… Should I ask how you’ve been or is that kind of like asking what brought this on and something that we shouldn’t talk about?”
“Hey,” Hermione said, sitting up a little and offering up one of the lattes. “...Well, not too long ago, people were going kinda crazy?” She said, trying to describe what happened… though she didn’t do that good of a job, did she? Anything around here could be considered ‘crazy...’ “Anyway, he was replaced by an evil twin. Or something. He doesn’t remember what happened, and… I don’t know. It’s just awkward.”
Reaching out, Fleur reached for one of the lattes, sipping it thankfully. Fleur frowned a bit considering the possibilities and repercussions of it all. "Yeah, I bet. Did you try talking to him about it?"
“No, we haven’t talked about it yet.” Hermione said with a bit of a sigh. “I’m not sure how to bring it up. I don’t know what I’d want him to say. I don’t know what he’d want me to say.” She leaned back in her chair and lifted the latte to sip from it.
Fleur raised an eyebrow, “You haven’t talked about it? I mean I know I’m no relationship expert but isn’t that making it worse? I find it’s better to say anything than nothing.” She shrugged knowing it really wasn’t her place to comment further. “Does it bother you? Like a lot or…”
“No. Well, I don’t know. Not talking about it is probably making it worse. I’m starting to get scared that we’ll never talk about it, and pretty soon we’ll just be roommates, and then he’s going to start resenting me for it.” Hermione said, starting to freak herself out a little. It wasn’t something she’d talked about at all. With anyone. Now that she was saying it, it was terrifying.
“Then you really should talk to him,” Fleur said thinking on it a moment. “I mean sure it’ll be awkward and stuff at first but it’ll be better in the long run. You should tell him all that. I mean I would offer to talk to him for you but it probably won’t do much good.” She said with a small shrug of her shoulders. “I am not sure he could ever resent you though. Jim really isn’t the type from what I’ve known him.”
“Yes. You’re right.” Hermione said. She gave a little sigh and leaned back in her chair. “I will. I’m going to to talk to him.” A smile spread across her features as she thought about Jim and how much she loved him. “He’s… not really the type, no. He’s a great guy. The best.”
"It might not fix things but at least you'll feel better and can start to fix things if you need." Fleur said offering her friend a small smile. "I am sure it'll be okay."
“Thanks, Fleur.” Hermione said, giving her friend a smile.
