What’s for dessert
Who: Shepard and Dani What: V-day celebrating When: 2/13 Where: Shepard's house STatus: complete Rating: PG-13
This was her domain now. Dani put her hands on her hips and looked around the kitchen, smirking a bit and nodding to herself. There hadn’t been too much to re-arrange, but there had been a lot of things to stock up on or just plain purchase. She was really glad that the money she made working at the Ranch could be put to use bringing the professional kitchen Shepard had bought up to date.
And it was hers, now, because this place was hers. This was her home, and while it was in Shepard’s name, Dani felt like she’d probably never live anywhere else again. Even if it hadn’t been Valentine’s day she would have decided to celebrate that by cooking an epic feast.
But it was, and since it was, she began to put together a meal that was a little gourmet and extra special. A rack of new york strip steaks, cooked roast-style. The lightest, fluffiest whipped potatoes she could ever make. Various herbed butters were created to put on the steaks, and she fire roasted vegetables to go with them.
It took almost the whole day, but Dani thought it was worth it. She’d taken her time and worked in little spurts of energy, cleaning a bit as she went and setting up a table in the dining room. By the time Shepard got home, it was ready to serve, and Dani’d even had time to take a refreshing nap and put something nice on. She’d even gotten out the wig Shepard had gotten her.
A kitchen that Shepard had rarely used. It had been because her ex-wife liked to cook, but then things had fallen apart suddenly and it had never been used for anything more complicated than mac and cheese.
She was nervous, having Dani there, but she didn't mind giving her free reign over the kitchen. She still had to give Dani the full rundown on the house. The panic room, where the hidden walls of weapons were. She’d already given her the security codes.
She'd stopped to pick up a few things on the way home. Some non-alcoholic wine, and something for Dani to unwrap - not just chocolate. She keyed in her code and stepped inside, immediately groaning at the smell of food.
Oh she could get used to that.
The more serious features of the house could wait, in Dani's opinion. Though that was the main reason they were keeping the house Shepard had bought instead of looking for one of their own. Things like the panic room and all of that were expensive to install.
Hopefully they wouldn't need anything like that tonight. Dani had some nice music playing in the background - not traditional 'romance' music, but some instrumental selections. Dani grinned at Shepard as she walked out of the kitchen and held up a cocktail she'd mixed for her, "Happy Valentine's Day. Have a drink."
"Hey..." she took the drink and sipped it. It was pretty strong, almost a little too strong but since Dani couldn't taste it she supposed that she wasn't going to complain. She rocked her hips to the sound of the music and danced against Dani. She looked her over and chewed on her lip. "Happy Valentine's day, lover."
The drink had been mixed by memory, of course, but Dani noticed the slight grimace on her lover's face and smirked a bit as she bumped her hip against Tyra, "I can water it down for you if you want."
“That’s probably a good idea, I want to be able to see you without blurry eyes,” Tyra pointed out, setting the drink down so she could rub her hands along Dani’s hips. She was so unbelievably sexy that she couldn’t stand it. She was wondering if she really could wait until April to propose.
Those were the kind of caresses that usually lead to passionate embraces and the removal of clothing, and Dani purred a bit. No matter what condition she'd been in, Tyra had never let her feel undesireable, and she wanted to show her woman just exactly how much she appreciated her.
Later on that night, however. Right now was the time for enjoying delicious food and catching up on their day. Dani smirked a bit and pulled away, though not before planting a kiss on her lover's lips that hinted at what she had in store for her.
"Come on, I made us a feast. I want to eat it while it's still warm."
Dani took Tyra's hand in hers and lead her into the dining room.
Shepard loved to show Dani how she felt about her, though she’d learned after Liara how to deal with the frustration when she couldn’t do anything. It came in handy on Dani’s sicker weeks. But now Dani was better and Shepard was ecstatic. She followed Dani into the dining room like a puppy being led on a leash.
The food had only recently been set out, and it was all still steaming. There was a platter of strip steaks, a few dishes of butter that obviously had herbs in it, some fresh rolls, a gigantic bowl of mashed potatoes, and another one filled with beautifully roasted onions, green beans, and red peppers. Dani looked a little proud of herself, and was pretty eager to find out if she'd done a good job.
She motioned Shepard to her chair, then grinned and took the bottle of wine out of her lover's hand, "I'll get us some glasses and ice for this. Dig in! I kind of... wanted to outdo myself."
“You already did.” And Shepard dug in. It wasn’t hard to. Not with how good it smelled. Even if it had been terrible she would have pretended to like it, but she didn’t have to pretend. It was fantastic. Shepard had to stop herself from gorging - being too full wouldn’t be very sexy for later.
It was a good coincidence that the chilled wine went perfectly with the meal, and Dani dug in shortly after bringing it back with the glasses. After smelling the cooking food all day, she had to admit she was starving, and it was so wonderful to be able to salivate over food again that she almost made the mistake of overeating, herself.
But she didn't, thankfully. She leaned back in her chair when she was done and let out a loud, happy groan, "I'm glad I saved room for dessert."
“Yeah? What’s for dessert?” Shepard rubbed her stomach, leaning back in her chair as well. Her eyes were dancing as she studied her girlfriend. It was good to be gay….
The candlelight was doing wonderful things to the native woman's bronze skin. She practically glowed. In response to Shepard's question, she smirked and got up out of her chair, "Come to the bedroom in twenty minutes and you'll find out."
Dani stalked out of the room like she was a cat on the prowl. She was actually a lot more nervous than she let on, but tonight was the night and she had something really special planned. Everything in the bedroom was already set up. All she had to do was get into the nice piece of lingerie she'd bought and light a few candles... throw rose petals all over the bed.
She got on the bed, took a deep breath, and let it out.
Shepard sat up straight and watched the other woman stalk out. Just the way she moved, her muscles under her exposed skin was enough to get her motor running. She started counting down the seconds, digging her nails into her thighs.
Then she ran upstairs.
The bedroom was glowing with candles and red rose petals were decorating the floor, bed, and a few of the other surfaces in the bedroom. Dani had raided their fun drawer and some selections from it were off to one side on a tray next to the bed.
She had to remind herself to breathe as Shepard entered the room. Despite the fact that she was the one trying to make the other woman breathless, her heart was probably racing at least as fast.
Shepard took in the sight, and did a double take at the selection from the toybox. She immediately felt both a great deal of trepidation and joy. Dani had never let her do that sort thing to her before. She knew her lover's trust issues with penetration. This was a huge, huge deal and Shepard was utterly ecstatic.
She licked her lips as her eyes rested on Dani. Her heart thundered in her chest as she stepped into the bedroom, unbuttoning her shirt as she moved. "You certainly know how to make things memorable. I'm going to make sure you remember every moment."
Sitting on the bed, she stroked Dani's leg, fingers trailing up her thigh. Nice and slow, she'll take it nice and slow. Every kiss, every caress, every gentle thrust and lovebite as though she were worshipping a goddess. Because Dani deserved that and so much more. Tyra wanted to live up to the trust she'd been given.
