"I'm always good." It's a complete lie and they're both aware. But it's a special day and there's no need to be rude about things. John's sure Q will let it lie. Self consciously, he strokes his thumb against the knot of his tie. He'd be lying if he said he hadn't gone through any trouble. Then again, so would Q who so obviously made an attempt at quelling his hair. Failed, but still obvious.
"If that's what you're into," he says, smooth as anything, like he isn't just promising to give Q whatever the fuck he wants whenever. He tilts his head last second to take the kiss completely (there'll be a lot of that tonight, he can tell), before leading Q down to his car.
It's a piece, and it always has been, because that's what happens when you pay cash for a beater someone is selling on the side of the road, but it's his and more convenient than cashing in favors or using the bus.
