Who: Valentine and Alyssa When: Mid January Where: College campus What: Meeting a fellow psychology geek Rating/Warning: Low/None Status: Complete
Valentine had wandered away from the rest of her class on their tour of the college campus and was making her own way round. She liked the feeling of freedom she felt as she walked and was looking forward even more to getting away from school. She hadn’t gotten as many strange looks as she thought she might have, looking older than her fifteen years was obviously working in her favour.
She found herself in the Psychology department and was reading some information when the bell went, she tucked herself closer to the wall as the students filed out.
Alyssa took most of her classes online, but she tried to have just one brick and mortar class so that way she wouldn’t get too antisocial. She did notice a girl who looked younger than the rest of the students trying to avoid getting trampled as people exited class as if there were a fire. “Oi, watch it,” she glared at a classmate, sticking herself between pointy twenty-something elbows and the girl. “Are you all right?”
"Oh yes, thank you for that" Valentine smiled at the pretty girl, "I'm not used to such a rush" she said, "Guess I'll need to get used to it huh? So do you take psychology?"
“I do, yeah. It’s my major and I really like it so far. What about you?” Alyssa figured there were only two reasons for a teenager to be at a uni during the day - she was either a child of an instructor, or she was a student. Saying she needed to get used to it made Alyssa think it was the latter.
“I’m still at school, I’m on a visit with them but I sort of purposefully lost them” she admitted, “I’m considering Psychology as my major though which is why I’m hanging around almost getting trampled” she grinned.
“It’s a really interesting major, just because there’s loads of ways you could go with it. I’m thinking of doing clinical psychology, just because I’d be terrible at research.” Alyssa grinned right back. “Statistics and I aren’t friends.”
“I don’t mind statistics but I wanna help kids who have come from hard or difficult situations. I think it affects them more than anybody realises - even if they’re very young. I guess I just want to use whatever I can to make a difference. Even if it’s just one kids life, you know?”
Alyssa nodded. “Same. I want to help teenagers, though. So I’ll help anyone you don’t get to when they’re older,” she beamed. “Oh, I’m sorry, I’m being awfully rude. I’m Alyssa, it’s nice to meet you.”
Valentine laughed, “Sounds like a plan to me” she agreed, “That’s okay, I was too. I’m Valentine, and thank you again for saving me from being trampled”
“Of course! I can’t let a fellow petite person get stomped on, now can I?” Alyssa grinned. “Want to go get a coffee or something? I can show you more of the campus, if you like.”
“Oh, that would be great. If you don’t mind. I don’t want to be a bother if you have things to do” Valentine said.
“Not at all! Usually I just go home after class, so this’ll be a nice change.” Alyssa beamed, liking friends of all ages.
“Then I’ll gratefully take you up on your offer” Valentine smiled, “And the coffees are on me” she added, hoping that when she started college all the students were as nice as Alyssa.
Alyssa beamed, liking that she’d made a new friend. She walked next to the shorter girl, pleased that school had ended this way for her that day.
