Gin had been nearby while Rangiku was reading Mayuri’s e-mail messages, although he wasn’t reading it yet, himself. No over the shoulder peeks or anything. He hadn’t received any messages, personally. Not that he expected any. He was still a traitor to all the other Shinigami in the area, so he expected that he would be the last one that they would ever come to, for help.
And so he had no clue just yet, but with Rangiku around...that probably wasn’t going to last long.
He was engrossed in playing a puzzle game on his phone, and bumping Rangiku with his elbow every so often, to make sure she knew he hadn’t forgotten about her. And to be a pesky pest. Mmhmm!
She would elbow him back gently before the emails finished up and she sat back and sighed. “Well this is awkward.” she looked over to Gin. She was worried if she told him, when she left to drink with Yumi, he’d do something. But as she pondered it she realized, if he did something, it’d be good for all of them. Mostly. Probably. She trusted him anyways.
So she took a breath and looked over at him again. “Hey… so.. Mayuri just sent out an email - dude’s a pile of goo in a pickle bucket right now talk about bad nights - but uh.. looks like someone broke into his lab, stole stuff, and some of that stuff involved what he knew about all of us and Soul Society and stuff.” she frowned a bit.
Gin's facial expression didn't change or skip a beat. He was still his usual smiling self, even though he could see through the corner of his happy squint, that Rangiku was frowning. This was not good news.
"Ahhh," he sighed out, softly and slowly. He didn't appear to be concerned about it, even if he really was. "Ain't thatta bitch. He's always been a lil' weird, but I thought he was more careful than that. Guess he's gonna go haywire with riggin' the lab to blow sky high...after he's not in no pickle bucket no mo'."
He looked like he was playing his game on the phone some more. That was just a cover for him thinking things over, silently. He didn't even ask the next question on his lips, because he was in no rush. He didn't want to seem too overly concerned, so he was going to wait to ask for details on who did it, and then go scouring the area to see if he could find them, when he made the nightly rounds.
This was epic not good news. She didn’t like the idea of someone not of their ilk with that kind of info. Not that she had an idea exactly what was in it, but you never know. She frowned softly. She knew he was concerned. She knew him well enough to know he’d not like that info out either.
“Seems he wasn’t expecting a person like this to get in. She apparently wasn’t picked up by any of his sensors or whatever.” she rolled her eyes a bit. “I’m not sure I really understand, but I may have suggested Akon stick him in the Fridge for a bit. He was being a bit of an ass.” she grinned a bit.
“Oh look there’s a description of the chick too. Although I wouldn’t even know where to start looking.” she gave Gin a look.
"That guy's always kinda been an ass," was Gin's light and airy sounding reply. He still didn't look or sound like any of this was a big deal, even if he didn't like it either. His hands were tied where the others were concerned, and he was still keeping secrets from Rangiku. That was even if there were a few less secrets, the more she dreamed. "What's she look like, and what're y'all gonna do?"
He momentarily stopped playing his game to turn his head and smile at her. Or at least it looked like he was smiling at her. He was actually skim reading the current e-mail through the squint.
She told him what she looked like, and shrugged softly. “I don’t think I’m doing more than keeping an eye out for her. It’s not really my place to do anything unless I run into her. I mean, I could go hunting for her , but in this city?” she frowned softly. She ran her nails through her hair then looked at him.
“He has been, that’s true. Might do well to be on ice for a bit.” she gave him a look. She shook her head gently. “I don’t know what I‘m going to do. I guess we’ll figure it out. I just don’t like the idea stuffs out there and that’s dangerous.”
He continued smiling right back at her, like everything was right as rain. It wasn't, they both knew it, but it was his way to keep up the facade. That way, there wasn't many vulnerable spots in his armor for others to take advantage of. Or, at the very least, he was good at hiding the vulnerability. He was a talented liar, when he wanted to be.
Unfortunately, he wanted to be that most all of the time.
"Maybe, but this place's kinda dangerous anyway. Look at some of the people who're runnin' around. Most of 'em could blow things up or cause a body count, if they gotta bug up their ass. I'm sure it'll work itself out, sooner or later. People with the kinda info that Captain Clown's got? They'll probably trip up and make themselves known by tryin' ta use it. Gotta wait and see, then you can catch 'em."
Still with that ever present smile on his face, Gin shrugged back at her and had mentally filed away what the target looked like, based on what he was told. He would have to go it alone, and let Rangiku work with her captain and the others. It was simply the way it was before and it was simply the way it was, now.
Although this time Rangiku was more likely to work alone than with everyone else. She was still wary of them , despite her dreams, because of how they treated Gin. She knew that they had reason, but she didn’t like it. But she’d let him think she was working with her Captain and the others. He didn’t have to know either.
“I hope so. I’m sure they’ll make more of a mess than anything with it. I don’t even trust half of our folk with half that information. I’m pretty sure they’d blow themselves up.” she rolled her eyes a bit. She was trying to trust them but she couldn’t find it in her heart just yet. She nuzzled against him softly and smiled. “You’re going to go hunt her down aren’t you while you’re out and about at night?” she grinned, she knew him better than he thought she did.
If Gin knew that, he would disapprove...but it's not like he can go telling her what to do. That would be like throwing stone at glass houses and they seemed to be operating on a 'don't ask, don't tell' policy with all three people living under Gin's roof. Jessie included.
"You'd blow yo'self up with the rest of 'em and ya know it," Gin cheerfully told her, but he didn't even skip a beat when he flat out told her, "Nope, leavin' it to all've you. Ain't my business."
It was...but then again? It wasn't. So what he was saying wasn't a lie. Not precisely. He left the matter of being out at night as something best ignored.
She just laughed and smiled at him. It was pretty much a yes in her book. But she smiled anyways. "Not really mine either silly." She leaned over to kiss him. "Yumi sounded like he was having a bad night so I told him I'd go have a few drinks with him. You going to be set for food while I'm gone?"
She planned on calling a cab. She knew she'd be drunk when she was done so it was safer that way. They lived in a glass house. Best not throw stones. She smiled. She was secretly glad he knew. She trusted him. He could handle it better than she thought half the others could.
When push came to shove she trusted him.
It was a yes. She also really probably shouldn't have trusted him in the first place, but it was what it was and he would do what he could, on his own. If anyone hurt Rangiku though, there was going to be hell to pay. Despite those thoughts, Gin leaned in toward her for the kiss and grinned at her, afterward.
"I'm set for food. Have a good time and I'd say to tell the narcissist hello, but he'd probably make faces and say he'd stab me. Damn eleventh division. Stab first, ask questions later."
He sighed like that was so inconvenient. Even if it wasn't and he thought Squad 11 sounded like a fun place. It definitely had the least amount of rules, other than 'Fight!'
She kissed his cheek afterwards. Trusting him was part of her nature - she couldn't not trust him. She knew she probably shouldn't. But she never did care what the others thought - Gin was her savior, the apple of her eye and the best thing to ever happen to her. She couldn't ignore all of that just because he turned traitor. Things happened for a reason, right? Right. She still believed that.
"Good. He'd probably offer to stab you, that's for sure." she grinned a bit then pushed off the couch. "Don't do anything too reckless, Gin." she smiled at him, knowing him well enough to know that reckless wasn't entirely his style, to her it seemed he LIKED having order to his plans, even if they fell apart later he seemed to start with some kind of plan.
