It was kind of goofy, to offer her a handshake after they'd already met, but Rapunzel laughed a little and accepted it anyway. "Pleasure to meet you, properly," she said with a small nod. It didn't much matter to her how he published them, that he had the capacity to write out a complete novel--more than one!--and publish it in the first place was more than a lot of people. When he found a novel for her, she lit up like a kid at Christmas. "I can have it? Really? Do you want me to pay you for it? I know I have some cash..."
Right! Duh. She really needed to get her order in if she wanted to eat before school! "Okay," Rapunzel said, accepting it and holding the book to her chest, definitely intending to go over and talk to him more after she put in her order. The girl behind the register was a little cold, but Rapunzel wasn't quite sure how to assure her that nothing was really going on. They were just talking, right?
After getting her order of oatmeal and lemon iced tea, she wandered back over. "I read the first few pages," she confessed, tapping the mark on her page that she'd gotten to. "I like it so far! How many novels have you written?"
