In truth, Renly was pleasantly surprised by how put-together his older brother's life seemed. He had spent so long wondering about Robert's life while he wasn't a part of it, so desperate for news that he would resort to reading gossip columns just to catch a glimpse of his former idol, that it felt almost strange to be sitting around and stuffing their faces like old times.
Of course, Renly wasn't naive enough to believe that what he saw on the surface was everything that was really going on in Robert's life - but he was here now, and they had plenty of time to reacquaint themselves. Perhaps in time, Robert would come to trust him enough to really open up about the last several years of his life.
"Thanks," he said with a smile as he took the bowl, pleased and unsurprised to see that Robert still recalled how Renly like his ice cream: heaping scoops, with all the fixings. "What, no chocolate syrup?" He was teasing, of course. Renly might have had a bottomless stomach, but there was only so much that even he could justify putting into his body without feeling guilty.
