Renly was trying his very best not to get overwhelmed or choked up by the sight of his estranged older brother standing there in the doorway, but all it took was the older man pulling him in for a hug and then all bets were off. He was horrified to feel the hot prick of tears threatening the corners of his eyes, and silently began to run through Euro Cup statistics in an attempt to distract himself.
"You don't look too bad yourself," he managed with a smile, genuine if a little strained what with the tension of hiding how thoroughly freaked out he was by the evening's earlier events. "Old man," he added, giving Robert a light nudge in the ribs with one elbow. "I love your house." He gazed around at the house that Robert lived in with his wife, impressed by the splendor. Of course they had both grown up in their parents' beautiful old manor in the countryside, but clearly his eldest brother was doing well for himself stateside. This palace made Renly's little bungalow on the beach look like a toolshed.
"I hope you're hungry! It's still warm." He held up the bag of containers that held the leftover chinese food - actually, did it count as leftovers if he hadn't actually had a chance to start eating? He supposed that it just qualified as plain old takeout.
