Elizabeth had called Leonard over to her house with a sudden urge to spill everything she had been bottling up inside for so long. This tricksy truth telling-ness seemed to have had an impact on her inhibitions as well since she would never normally have text him saying how much she missed him and that she had something she needed to say to him. She’d been pacing for a good few minutes now, having tidied everything she could get her hands on, she was still anxious, but she knew that as soon as he was here she would tell him everything and that would be that. If he chose to run away or stay that would be out of her control, but she figured they’d best be honest before things got much more serious. Of course all this thinking had happened after she’d been struck by this apparent curse of truthfulness and spurred her into action. She could only hope to god that it wasn’t the biggest mistake of her life.
So many weird things had been happening to the couple since they’d decided to become… well, a couple. McCoy knew that things would never be normal again, but he wasn’t sure that things had to be this weird. Did they? In any case, he wasn’t expecting anything that strange to happen today.
McCoy arrived on her doorstep and rang the bell. He was still in his work clothes.
Elizabeth jumped as the doorbell rang, checked herself quickly in the mirror then took a deep breath and pulled the door open, smiling happily when she saw him on the other side. “Hi,” she took his hand and pulled him in to her home and kissing him deeply as a welcome.
“Hey there.” McCoy responded after the kiss. His arms were still wrapped down and around her. “How are you feeling?” There had been some weirdness going around, and he was concerned for her.
“Nervous, anxious and really quite horny,” Elizabeth told him quickly. Her eyes widened in shock and she covered her mouth with her hands, dropping her head to his chest in embarrassment as she blushed bright red. “Aaaand I haven’t been able to stop telling the truth all day,” she groaned into his chest before looking up apologetically with her hands opened in supplication. “As I just demonstrated,” she sighed and wrapped her own arms around him, resting her head under his chin. “Sorry,” she apologised against the fabric of his shirt, fingers tightening against his back.
McCoy’s eyebrows both raised, but he couldn’t stop a little smirk from crossing his lips. “I see.” He said, lifting a hand to run over her hair. “Well… not sure what I can do about that.” The nervous and the anxious bits he’d probably need some medication to help. The other… well, he could help her with that quite easily. “...It’s okay. Really. Let’s have something to drink and you can explain it all to me.”
“Ok,” Elizabeth sighed, taking his hand and leading him to the kitchen. “A drink is a great idea,” she muttered more to herself than him as she opened the fridge door to pull out a bottle of wine. “Sorry, I’ve only got white in at the moment,” she apologised as she opened it, reaching up to grab two glasses from the overhead cupboard and pour the wine. “I drank the red yesterday while hiding in my room after admitting to one of my students that I was frustrated because I hadn’t realised how much I missed sex until I started having it with you,” she sighed in frustration. “Oh god! Sorry!” she covered her face as her shoulders slumped before reaching out and taking a long drink from one of the glasses.
McCoy followed her into the kitchen and moved to lean against one of the counters. He folded his arms across his chest, wearing an amused expression on his features. He watched her open the bottle and pour the wine, then gave another little chuckle at how embarrassed she was. “Wow. I’m… flattered.” He said, and lifted a glass himself. “Cheers.”
"Oh please, like you didn't know how much I love having sex with you, you're gorgeous for gods sake," Elizabeth waved a hand at him as he lounged against the counter with that sexy smile. She leant her hip against the counter next to him. "I'm so whipped," she sighed happily, her gaze running up and down his form as she placed her hand on his chest and flexed her fingers against his shirt.
McCoy actually laughed now. He wrapped his arms down and around her. “I like this honesty thing.” He said, grinning, and pressed a kiss into her hair. “Tell me more.”
Elizabeth smiled as he pulled her closer. "Like what? That I hate it when you leave, that I love kissing you, holding you..." she skimmed her fingertips up his arm. "I just...love you," she told him simply, looking up at him with a shy smile.
McCoy was enjoying it very much. All the attention, all the love. He ran his hands up and down her back, pulling her stomach a little tighter against his. “And? What else? What other deep, dark secrets do you have in there that you’ve been dying to tell me?” He asked, teasing a little.
"That I've been thinking about what it would be like to have a child with you ever since you said you weren't completely terrified by the idea," she rambled quickly, closing her eyes and clamping a hand over her mouth in horror at what she'd just said. "Oh god! I'm so sorry!" She mumbled under her hand, feeling the blood drain from her face at the admission. "I hate this, I've got no control over what comes out of my mouth!" she groaned in despair.
McCoy shrugged his shoulders. “That’s not that big of a surprise. Really.” He said, though he was completely amused by her reactions to what she was saying. “I love it when you’re so embarrassed. Go on. Tell me more.”
"Before we were going out and there was that singing thing going around I called Sam up instead of you and sang 'Call Me Maybe' at her," Elizabeth groaned into his neck as her head pitched forward, spilling her secrets without a means to stop it. "Wait a minute," she said as her head popped up to look at him in amazement. "You didn't run screaming in the other direction...what does that mean?" she asked.
“What do you mean?” McCoy asked, leaning back just slightly and tipping his face down so he could look at her in the eye. “Why would I run screaming in the other direction? That’s not a very gentlemanly thing to do.” He said, partially teasing.
"I...I..." she was speechless for a minute, shaking her head to try and restore some sense to her befuddled brain. She rested her hands on his chest, gentle fingers slipping under the collar of his shirt as she leaned against him and spoke quietly. "I don't know.. I guess I thought that with everything that happened with your ex you wouldn't entertain the idea. And let's face it, I can't picture me as a mom so I didn't expect anyone else to be able to either," she shrugged. "So does that mean we're on the same page?" she asked quietly, cheeks growing pink as she asked the question.
McCoy paused for a long moment, holding her against him. His hands moved up and down her back once, as he looked down into her pinkening face. She was so beautiful in the light like this. He wanted to choose his words carefully, so he wouldn’t say the wrong thing and either hurt her, or lead her on. “My experience with my ex-wife is a very unfortunate turn of events, and I have to admit that it’s turned me off of marriage and family--in the traditional sense, of course. I love my daughter, and I can’t imagine a world without her. Does that mean that I’ll never get married again? Maybe. Does that mean I can’t--or won’t--entertain the idea of giving Joanna a brother or sister? No.”
Elizabeth nodded slowly, catching her bottom lip between her teeth as she looked up at him. "I love you," she told him simply, leaning up and pressing a long kiss against his lips.
He would have responded that he loved her too. Because he did. But then she was kissing him, and he decided that in that moment, actions spoke louder than words. So he kissed her back. Whole heartedly.
