Billy had been quite pleased to receive an invite to the Stark party, he knew it was pretty open but the fact that he’d had his own personal invitation meant something. Mostly that he was recognised in his own right even without Zelda, and that felt good.
Justin had agreed that they should go so he’d gotten a nice new grey suit and was just finishing doing his hair. He’d come over to Justin’s early since he’d be spending the night so it made more sense for him to get ready there too.
“You ready?” he called out as he slipped his shoes on.
“Almost.” Justin didn’t actually have a suit, but he did have a few pairs of dress slacks, so he’d chosen the pair that were only slightly tight in the back, which showed off his bubble butt, which the thought was his best asset aside from his smile and a night button down shirt, “I’m not too dressed down, am I? I would have worn a suit if I had one.” Truth be told, he wasn’t exactly sure what to expect at the Stark party. It might have been a party thrown by one of the wealthiest people in Orange County, but at the same time Tony Stark was known to throw rather extravagant parties.
"You look gorgeous" Billy assured him, coming over to wrap his arms around his boyfriend. Hands appreciating the fit of the trousers as he squeezed his ass, "I'm going to be the envy of everybody" he said honestly before kissing him.
Justin laughed and wrapped his own arms around Billy, “Do that again and we’ll never get out of here.” Spending the night in bed with Billy also sounded like a good way to spend their New Year’s Eve, but he knew that Billy wanted to go to this party and he had also been looking forward to it. “And you look amazing yourself. I hope there’s some mistletoe somewhere at this party so we can make everyone even more jealous.” He grinned, showing Billy the reason his nickname, both in and out of the dreams, was Sunshine.
Billy did want to go and, he reminded, himself they could always come home once midnight hit and welcome the new year in their own way. "I'm sure Pepper has it placed strategically, and if not then who needs mistletoe anyway" he grinned.
“So you’re saying, if there isn’t mistletoe, I can just kiss you wherever I want?” Justin smirked and moved to take Billy’s hand then made sure he had his keys and wallet then led him out of the apartment and out to the garage where his car was parked. “Have I told you that I’d actually looking forward to spending New Year’s at a party like this instead of a club? Not that I don’t like clubs, but on New Years they get even more fucking insane than usual.” He wasn’t going to go into detail about what exactly he’d gotten up to last New Year’s Eve at the clubs of course.
“Pretty much yeah” Billy grinned slipping his hand into Justin’s. “I can imagine” Billy nodded, he’d not had much experience in clubs and actually the times he had been had been fairly enjoyable thanks to Justin but he could guess what they were like at New Year’s. “I’m looking forward to this too, I still can’t believe I got my own invite you know?” he added as they got into the car.
“It just shows that someone is paying attention to you,” Justin smiled as he unlocked the car and let go out Billy’s hand so that they could get into the car, “Is Zelda gonna be there tonight?” Justin had yet to actually meet Zelda, but he was looking forward to it whenever it happened.
“She wasn’t sure” Billy said, “She should really, keep up appearances and all that, but I didn’t want to pressure her. I think she might want to just spend the evening with Link” He didn’t blame her, as much as she was a social butterfly she had done a lot of entertaining and party attending all over Christmas.
Justin could understand her wanting to spend a quiet night with her boyfriend; if they weren’t going to this party then chances were pretty good that they would be spending the night at one of their apartments, just ordering food. “From the sound of it, she deserves a night to herself with her boyfriend.” He pulled out of his spot and in a few moments they were out of the garage and on the street, heading to the party.
“She does” Billy nodded, “I’ll make her excuses if anybody asks, it’ll be fine” And it would be, Billy had learnt enough about PR to know that all he had to do was suggest she was holding a small family/close friend party and the vulture reporters would back off. It was just a shame they had to do that, sometimes Billy was glad he was the assistant and not the star. Nobody really cared too much about his personal life.
“She shouldn’t have to make excuses though, if she wants some time away from the spotlight and all the attention then she should get it,” Justin glanced over at Billy as they reached a red light, “She deserves in. She doesn’t owe anyone anything.” As always, Justin was outspoken about the things he believed in and having worked around actors for a few years, he didn’t think that they owed anyone anything unless they wanted to.
“I know that and you know that but to the paparazzi and even to an extent the public she’s fair game” Billy replied angling himself towards Justin automatically since he didn’t have to keep an eye on the road. “It’s something she knew and accepted when she started her career, it’s not fair or right but it is what it is, at least for now”
“That’s one reason I’d hate to be famous. I’m way too outspoken.” Justin said, moving his foot to the gas as the light changed, “I’d wind up telling the paps to fuck off on a daily basis.” He smirked as he saw Stark Industries up ahead, “She’s got a lot more patience than I do.”
Billy nodded, “I like being behind the scenes, nobody takes much notice about what you do” he agreed, “But she accepted it as part and parcel of the whole deal when she started out so...” he shrugged. He was glad she had gone into it with her eyes open but it was a shame the paps never wanted to leave her alone.
“I always preferred that too. It’s just a lot less stressful.” As they pulled up to Stark Industries, it was easy to figure out where to go since there were valets and a short line of cars, “Why am I not surprised that there is a valet?” He smirked at Billy then moved up with the other cars until it was their turn.
"Of course there is" he grinned in return, "We can't be trusted to park the car ourselves" he chuckled.
“We might hit the more expensive ones.” Justin teased, smirking as they reached the attendant and he got out, trading his keys for a valet number. “Ready to ring in the new year in style?” He asked Billy, smiling over at him as he joined him on the other side of the car.
Billy laughed as he exited the car, “Absolutely, let’s go have fun” he said kissing Justin quickly before taking his hand as they headed inside.
