"We didn’t get this much. I didn’t. I thought maybe.."
Who: Rogue and Raven
What: Christmas Dinner
When: Backdated to X-mas!
Where: Raven and Rogue's place
Status: complete
Rating: PG

Raven had legit cooked. Ham and potatoes and everything. She’d even set the table and then stared nervously at it. This was really the first Christmas she hadn’t spent alone in forever, and that Rogue was there and she wasn’t hated made things…. well it made her nervous, shut up.

Rogue stretched, probably tired and achy from her jaunt out with one of her favorite people. Really, the world shouldn’t let Rogue and Logan out to play together. Things ended up pounded into paste. And Rogue ended up with sore muscles. But, man, it was a good way to beat off the stress. Things were awkward with Raven - mostly because the more Rogue remembered, the harder it was to balance what was happening now (Raven was being good. A thief, but good. Not evil.) and there. It was a migraine inducing thing. She padded down to the dining room and stopped, staring for a moment. “Well you went all out, didn’t you?” she smiled at her. This wasn’t bad. It looked and smelled good.

As long as Logan didn’t come slice her up or something Raven wasn’t going to tell Rogue who she could and couldn’t hang out with. She knew the thread between them was tenuous and fraying and she wasn’t sure she could handle it if it broke. So she sure as hell wasn’t going to tell Rogue she was going to break some poor girl’s heart.

“We didn’t get this much. I didn’t. I thought maybe…”

Rogue was doing a pretty good job keeping everyone separate. It helped half her friends knew nothing about her origins. The other half she didn’t talk to yet. Bonus. And she avoided the topic of Raven around Logan. She didn’t like starting wars. Not here anyways. She was genuinely happy, though, right now.

“No, no we didn’t. Ah like it.” she grinned. “It smells wonderful.” Rogue knew things were balanced precariously, but she wasn’t ready to give up yet. Not on the one person who knew her and cared for her wellbeing. She knew Logan worried about her. And Sam and Lara too, but they all had other people to worry about.

Raven still would threaten people who might hurt Rogue, but she hadn’t had cause yet. Except for Remy but that was more like poking the sleeping bear because it was fun. “Lets dish it out and eat then. What do real families do at these things, anyway?”

Rogue tucked a hair behind her head. She hadn’t remembered Remy yet, probably a good thing really. Once she did, she was going to regret it, since he was off market here. She wouldn’t even want to think about it. “Sounds good to me.” she plunked down in a seat and started on making herself a plate. “Um not sure, really. Back home we had folk from all over come by, so there was a lot o’catching up, but…” she shrugged a bit.

“I always preferred the smaller family dinners,” Raven admitted, spooning herself some taters (precious). “I suppose in both your real family and your X-family, holiday dinners were...huge and rowdy.”

She shrugged a bit. “Ah’m guessing so. Mah real family is a bunch o’rednecks from the middle of nowhere Louisiana, they’re definition of family dinner is drinkin’, fightin’, and makin’ a ruckus. “ she admitted with a tiny smirk. Even if she missed them.

“We can do the drinking and the ruckus, but I’d like to go a dinner without fighting,” Raven joked. “Speaking of which, did you enjoy last night?”

“Ah think we can manage that.” she teased as she tucked into the meal. It really smelled good and she couldn’t wait to get into it. “Always do. Feeling it less and less as ah go out more, it’s kinda nice, ain’t had to take a glove off yet.” she grinned.

“You should take classes.” She shrugged a shoulder and poured some wine. “So you get bruised less. Maybe you should borrow my powers.” Raven smirked. “Mold over your bruises, harden your muscles. Free boob job.”

“Eh. That’s not as fun, ah guess.” she took a glass. “lets me know ah’m alive, ya know?” she shrugged a touch and smiled, taking a sip then almost spit it out. “Ah don’t need a boob job!” then “Maybe but ah can’t keep em, so itd be temporary fixin’,”

“Too bad there’s no way to permanently take powers without killing someone. I’ll bet with the right kind of shifting you could make a layer over your skin to stop…” Raven thought about that. It might work.

“Too bad is right. Ah’m not gonna lie. There are some ah’d love to steal and have, ya know?” she smiled wistfully then tilted her head. “Oh that’d be interesting…” she trailed off to stuff a fork full of ham in her mouth.

“Well I don’t blame you. Mine is still the most useful.” She grinned at Rogue and shifted into the president. “The things I could get away with if I wanted.”

"Ah'm sure you could get away with the world." She didn't doubt ravens abilities. She knew from her dreams what the woman could do.

“Maybe we should try,” Raven joked. Her eyes flashed in amusement. Maybe she really should try.
