"My mom was like that when she was here." Verity said, giving her friend a smile. Her mother left only a couple of weeks after Christina was born, but she'd been down at least every other week since. It was about a six hour drive or a one hour plane ride for the Ashfords to come down to Southern California.
Verity led the way into the living room to sit on the sofa. It was baby-proofed already, so Natalia was safe. "She's great. Gaining weight just like she's supposed to... having more and longer stretches of wakefulness... she's even smiling at me a little now."
