Who: Mitchell and Annie What: Fluffy stuff and decorating When: A couple of days before Christmas Where: Their place Rating: G Status: Complete
For the past couple of hours, Annie had been helping Mitchell put the last finishing touches on their decorating. The party was the next day, so this was the only real time they had to get things completely in order. She wanted to make sure that everyone had a really good time, and no one would feel left out. This would be their first Christmas together and she was feeling excited. She put some tinsel around one of the poles and sighed. "This is going to be nice. Really nice. Did we get everything to eat that we need to? All the drinks? All the food?"
Maybe thy should run to the store really quick to make sure that they had a wide variety of things to eat and drink. "I think that should just about do it with the decorations."
The Christmas decorating and planning had helped to take Mitchell's mind off his dreams a little. Of course he still worried about hurting Annie or Annie turning into a ghost and there was the part where he wasn't sure how to tell her about the Boxcar 20 Massacure, but for the most part he wasn't dwelling as much. He'd been able to enjoy the holiday season so far and had been busy planning their party.
With the decorating pretty much finished they would be able to relax until tomorrow. "I think we have plenty. I mean, we both know that it won't go to waste if it doesn't get eaten tomorrow." Despite having the magic goblet from Magius, Mitchell was hungry an awful lot and was able to eat quite a bit and not gain a pound. Maybe there were some perks to being a vampire.
Their dreams were both closing in on them, she knew that deep down. Things seemed to be good on the surface, but there was something going on underneath. Right now though she was just concentrating on the holidays. The holidays were nice and nothing bad was going to happen. Right? Right. They were happy together, even if she was dating a vampire that could tear her throat out.
"That's true. Okay. I guess I'll try to stop worrying that we have everything. It's going to be good." He was lucky that he could eat all that food. She was still alive and so she could still eat at least. She'd rather be able to eat and gain weight than not eat at all. "So what are we doing Christmas day then?"
Mitchell's most recent dreams had been about Adam and Graham and Sasha, which he knew Annie had also dreamt about so as far as he knew they were pretty much on the same page dreamwise, which was good. While he knew there was nothing he could do to stop it, he didn't want her to get ahead of him and possibly find out about what he'd done before he could tell her. It was strange, because while he hadn't killed all those people in the waking world, he still worried about what Annie would think of him when he did tell her. He wondered if they were ever going to catch a break in the dreams and just get a chance to be happy.
"Christmas day." Mitchell ran a hand through his hair as he thought about that, "We could always just spend the day in bed. Have brunch and tea in bed then just stay there." He flashed Annie a cheeky smile as he leaned over to press a kiss to her cheek. They still had separate rooms, but spent a lot of nights in Mitchell's room. He was beginning to think that Annie should just move into his room and make things a hell of a lot easier on them both.
It was nice that they were on the same page dreams wise. They were coming not too frequently, which meant she could sleep at night. Though after each time she dreamed, she didn't sleep for a couple of days after that. It was too hard not to. Dreaming about zombies and the like was hard enough. She had also been fading in and out more than usual lately. There were days when no one at all could see her but Mitchell. It only lasted a day or so, but she knew that eventually it would happen. She would be a ghost. Then that would be it. No actual death. Just ghostly Annie.
"Mmm that sounds good," she agreed with a grin. "After opening presents of course. But I'm okay with staying in bed. It's not like there's any where to go." No family for her really. She wrapped her arms around him and hugged him tightly. "Sounds like a plan." She would have agreed with him about moving into his room.
Mitchell hated when she flickered. The last thing he wanted was for Annie to become a ghost full time and he wondered if there was anyone on Valarnet who could help them. Last night he'd talked to Nina she'd mentioned how her roommate's husband was the Merlin and he'd been tempted to ask him if there was anything he could do, but he didn't know exactly how much he knew about his dream counterpart. He didn't want to weird anyone out after all. For now all he could do was hope and pray that Annie would remain a human despite the fact that both him and Nina had changed.
"Of course presents first," Mitchell smiled and held Annie close for a few moments before finally letting her go, "Why don't we relax for a little while then we can start prepping the food for tomorrow." Since they were both going to be home during the day on Christmas Eve they didn't really need to cook beforehand, but having everything prepped would make it that much quicker.
There were so many things that she wanted to do with her life. She didn't want to give up eating or being able to touch or have sex. God she didn't want to give up having sex. She wouldn't be able to have children. Not that she would be having children with Mitchell she supposed. Of course she hadn't actually thought about that much. She'd realized that it wasn't possible anymore, but since they were young and she wasn't anywhere near ready to be a mother at all, it wasn't effecting her like it might down the road. If they lasted that long of course. There might be someone out there that could help her though. She hadn't thought about the fact that there were people out there that might be able to. Maybe she would have to ask around.
"Good because I might have gotten carried away and gotten you a lot of stuff." She hadn't really shopped much for anyone since the whole thing with Owen. That felt like such a long time ago. "You have such good ideas." She put the stuff down and then plopped herself on the couch. "Come snuggle."
If there was one thing Mitchell was glad about, it was that Annie was no longer with Owen. Yes, he was happy that they were together, but he was even more happy that she was away from Owen and didn't have to deal with his moodswings and being hit any more. They definitly weren't in a place to think about kids or any of that and while he couldn't have have children since he was a vampire, he hoped that if they ever got to that point they could figure something out.
Smiling down at Annie, he sat down beside her and wrapped an arm around her shoulders, pulling her close, "Well that's good, because I got you a lot too." Mitchell hadn't really had anyone to buy presents for, aside from his family, in a long time so he'd gone a little shopping crazy this year for Annie. Not that anyone could really blame him.
There wasn't any part of her that thought about Owen anymore. Even if that was the reason she was dead in her dreams, she didn't give him a second thought. All of her thoughts were with Mitchell and Nina and hoping that George would one day show up. They were a family. Even if she didn't have an actual family in the traditional way, the four of them were connected in a way that she would always think of them of her family over even her own family. The dreams were that real. She loved all three of them.
Once on the couch, she wrapped her arms around him and put her head down on his shoulder. "Yeah? This is going to be a good Christmas then." They were both in the same boat. She had gotten a lot of her friends presents too of course. Not working at Target anymore and making real money meant she had it to buy the things she wanted to for her friends. "We should do something just you and I since it's our first Christmas.. that will be our tradition."
Mitchell liked the sound of that. Making a tradition that would be just theirs. Of course Mitchell wished that George was there so then he, Annie, Nina and George could spend the holidays together, but until the time came when George showed up, he could only hope, "You mean aside from spending the day in bed?" He smirked, enjoying the fact that he could be close to her and not worry about hurting her. He hoped that soon he'd be able to start weening himself off the blood all together and abstain like in the dreams, but without the whole falling off the wagon numerous times part.
"Yeah aside from spending the day in bed." She could only wish that George showed up. If he did, then she would demand that they all lived together in a giant place and were close and all of that stuff. But for now it was just them. And Nina. "Like go and look at Christmas lights. Or watch a Christmas movie. Or um.. make a gingerbread house together. Something like that maybe?" Too bad they couldn't do all of those things while staying in bed for the rest of the day. Of course some of that stuff wasn't open on Christmas, so maybe they would have to tweak that a bit. "Got any ideas?"
“If you can brave the cold then we could take a ride on my bike later and check out some lights.” Mitchell said, running a hand through Annie’s curly hair. “I haven’t done that in a long time.” The Christmas before he’d been in rehab and the few before that he’d been too busy and/or high and drunk to really do much besides what Herrick had planned for him, so getting to spend this Christmas with Annie, doing new things meant a lot.
“That sounds nice. Yeah I think I can bundle up. I mean.. it’s a weird cold front in California but I think we’ll be fine.” She mm’d a bit to feel his fingers in her hair. “Me either.” She never got to do anything too Christmasy before. This was much nicer, and she was so glad that she was here with him. Annie nuzzled his neck a little. “We’re going to have a good one. I love you.”
“Then on Christmas Day, we’ll spend the day in bed and when the sun goes down, we’ll hop on my bike and go look at lights.” Of course Mitchell had a car too, but he thought it’d be more fun on the bike, because they wouldn’t be resisted by how much they could see because of the roof and size of the windows. He smiled at the contented sound that she made, a smile which only grew wider as she continued to talk, “I love you too.” In the dreams they had just gotten together, but it was clear that Annie was the love of his life.
Just thinking about it made her snuggle up against him a bit more. “That sounds perfect.” Damn right it was. Just the two of them. Annie was so happy that even the whole vampire thing didn’t get her down. Had she ever told him she loved him before? She didn’t even know. It felt like she’d always been saying it, even if she hadn’t been. But hearing him say it back, she was kind of sure that it was the first time. She smiled up at him and then leaned in so that she could kiss him.
They might not have said it before now, but it felt right. As she leaned up to kiss him, he ducked his head to meet her and returned the kiss, smiling against her lips. One thing was for sure, on Christmas Eve, he was going to be getting her under the mistletoe as often as was possible.
