Who: Renly Baratheon & Loras Tyrell
What: Lounging Around and Wedding Planning
When: Friday, December 6th. Evening
Where: Their House
Rating: Family Friendly (Will Change if Needed)
Status: In Progress

The wedding planning was going well; slowly, but well. They still didn't have an exact date, but knew it'd be in the spring, on the beach. They'd asked Obi-Wan to officiate and he'd asked Portia to design their suits. Now they just had everything else to plan, which was what they were doing while they sat, sprawled out in the living room, Chinese food boxes on the table along with the binder of wedding things. He still couldn't quite believe that in a few months he'd be getting married or that almost a whole year had gone by since he'd come back to California. Of course he was glad that he had and that Loras had eventually forgiven him, otherwise they wouldn't be where they were today.

"So, what else do we have to figure out?" He asked, poking his chopsticks in the container of lo mien.

A year. It had been a year since Renly had come back into his life. Loras remembered, he remembered everything, it was a downfall if you asked him. Only now, he just didn't care. It was part of their history, along with everything else that was either here or tucked away somewhere in their dreams. Everything now seemed to run together to where Loras sometimes didn't know if something was a dream or if it was reality.

This was their reality now, limbs curled together as they sat up, eating cheap Chinese order in. Both he and his king had opted for chopsticks and although Loras was handy with a sword, he wasn't as proficient with the clumsy eating utensils. He dropped a bit of shrimp, then decided that stabbing it was easier. He popped into his mouth like a kebab on a skewer.

After he chewed and swallowed, he answered, "Food. Some people are vegetarians." Some people were idiots, too, but they were still their friends.

Renly had been enjoying watching Loras attempt to eat with chopsticks. It had become his entertainment for the evening and he'd decided that he wasn't going to offer to help him use them correctly, because where was the fun in that? If it made him a bad boyfriend, he didn't really mind, because he did so many other things to make up for it. As Loras brought up food, Renly groaned and leaned back against the couch, "I will never understand vegetarians." As if on cue, he fished a piece of beef out of his lo mien, "Meat is so good," he popped the piece of beef into his mouth then set his container on the coffee table, "Okay, so what should we have? Any ideas?" Movies and TV shows always made this stuff seem so easy. It was either the chicken or fish and those were the only two options, but real life weddings had so many more choices.

That statement could have been taken in more ways than one. Loras nearly choked on his own bite as he laughed softly with a closed mouth before he swallowed again. He swiped at his mouth with the back of his wrist and shook his head. "Catering, I suppose," he answered, then looked at his reclining fiance, the smile still on his face.

"I'm sure the picky ones will find something," he continued. "Do you remember how the weddings were in King's Landings? Big affairs with long tables full of meats and potatoes." The very thought of one of those feasts made his mouth spring water.

"Catering sounds good. We could always ask around on Valarnet for a good one," That was one perk to the Network; you could always get recommendations for things from others in the same area and more often than not they were good ones. "Then the caterer can give us selections instead of us trying to decide blindly." At times the two of them trying to plan this wedding had been like the blind leading the blind. Renly was just glad that there were a few other people on Valarnet who were also planning weddings or just had and if there was anything he wasn't sure on, he'd just ask them.

When Loras brought up weddings in King's Landing, Renly laughed, nodding, "They always went all out. I couldn't even imagine a wedding like that these days," A mischievous smirk crossed his lips, "Imagine if the bedding was still a thing these days." Now that would be interesting and rather awkward.

"I'll do that," Loras promised, making a mental note to put a post up some time during the week. He tried his hand at gathering some rice up with his chopsticks. He managed to get a small ball of it and put that in his mouth before it could drop back onto the plate.

After swallowing, he let out an audible wince and instinctively started rubbing the small of his back. "That's why we looked forty wen we were twenty," he replied, "those beds were murder. We'd probably be better off screwing on the floor."

"I'm just glad it's not still a thing. That would be rather awkward on our wedding night with Margaery, Gendry, Obi-Wan, among others, who will be there." It might have worked back in the time their dreams took place in, but this day and age, a bedding would just be strange. "And the bed in my tent isn't bad. That's actually a pretty nice mattress. And if I recall, we did shag on the floor a couple times." He smirked over at Loras, waggling his eyebrows.

"Mmmmm," Loras intoned, biting at his own bottom lip. His fingers curled at his fiance's shirt front, tugging the man closer to him. What was it about this man? They'd been together for an eternity it seemed, yet Loras needed to be as close to him as the first time he'd ever touched him.

Loras kissed Renly's lips, smiling into it. "This is very surreal, you realize," he commented. "You and I, getting married, as it should be."

Renly would never dream if depriving Loras of his need to touch him, so when the younger man pulled him close, Renly went freely. He too enjoyed being as close to Loras as often as possible and kissed him back, curling his own fingers in Loras' long hair. "I know. I still have to pinch myself sometimes to make sure it's true." It was hard for Renly to believe that a year ago they had still been separated and he'd thought that he'd ruined any chance they had of being together again. "Only a couple of months and you'll be stuck with me forever."

Sometimes, Loras could make out a faint smell, the smell of an oncoming winter that only seemed to surround Renly. He released Renly's shirt, but kept his hand at the man's chest, feeling the comforting, steady-gentle thump of his heart beating beneath the material.

"What a horrible prospect," he teased. "And should I change my surname?" It was something he'd thought about, becoming Loras Baratheon and why should he not be? Still, it frightened him somehow. No, that wasn't quite right. It wasn't quite fear he felt, but rather a sense of not being able to turn back.

"Loras Baratheon. It has a nice ring to it," Renly had thought about the whole last name thing, but they'd been so busy with everything else that he hadn't thought to bring it up, "But I don't want you to think that you need to. We could always do a hyphen. Renly and Loras Tyrell-Baratheon." He was only partly serious about that suggestion, but it would be a good way to include both of their names, but he didn't know what Loras would think of it.

Professionally, Loras would still go by just Loras Tyrell, but he thought he liked the sound of the hyphen. He pulled a face, though. "Gods, Renly," he laughed, a little hint of nervousness in his tone. "It just all feels like it's happening suddenly." He didn't know what to do with it. He just knew he needed it.

Renly nodded, "I know. I mean it feels like you only just proposed instead of four months ago," Or had it been longer? So much had happened over the last few months that it was hard to remember exactly when it had been. "And now, we've got only a few months until we're actually married." Some people might have thought that they were rushing things, but technically they'd known each other for so much longer than they had in the waking world and it just felt right not to wait.
