Integra yawned as she slid from bed. She’d had another dream, but it felt like a puzzle piece slotting into place so she didn’t bother waking Alucard to talk about it. She’d bring it up over breakfast. She padded into the master bath and sunk into a hot bath, she really didn’t feel like a shower this morning. In fact, she cat napped while soaking in the hot water. When you’re rich you find ways to spend money, and she’d spent some of hers on what basically ended up being a jacuzzi for a tub - and it kept the water nice and hot for her. Which was good when she passed out in the tub, soaking it up and enjoying it. When she woke up from her little cat nap she slipped from the tub, wrapped herself in one of her big oversized towels and padded to the sink to brush her teeth. There on the marble was the cross necklace from her dreams and she jumped in surprise, knocking over the vase in her haste. “Holy shit!” she exclaimed as she looked at the glass mess on the floor, her bleeding hand where it cut her, and the cross on the counter. Could this place get any weirder? and she KNEW it wasn’t something she had owned, Integra was as non-religious as they come.
Alucard awoke instantly as he heard Integra cry out, moving swiftly from the bedroom he entered the bathroom to see blood on the floor and Integra standing there. “Are you okay? What happened?” he asked her as he grabbed a hand towel to wrap around her hand where it was still bleeding. He wasn’t squeamish but the sight of the blood made his stomach do a little flip which he ignored in favour of taking care of his love. Sitting her down he made sure she was holding the towel to her cut before he retrieved the first aid kit.
She let him take care of her. She didn't even notice she was really bleeding. "I got out of the bath and found that" with her good hand she gestured to the cross. "Alucard I don't own any crosses " as if he didn't know that. Heck she didn't really own much jewelry at all.
“Bloody hell” Alucard said under his breath, “I know you don’t love” he told her, smoothing her hair back from her face and kissing her forehead before tending to her cut. “Did you have another dream?” he asked, assuming the sudden appearance of the necklace was as a result of that. He recognised it from them already.
She shivered a bit mostly bc she was still I'm a towel. "I did but I wasnt going to both you with it until over breakfast. But it looks like this place had other plans. " she chewed on her lip a moment. "Its hers isn't it? Mine.. whatever"
He removed her robe from the back of the bathroom door and wrapped it around her when he noticed she was shivering. Alucard nodded, “It is” he confirmed, “I recognise it too”
She wiggled into the robe and frowned softly. “Well then.” she leaned forward to pick it up warily. “I wish I knew what this was all about. I wish I knew what it meant.” she turned it over gently in her fingers, of her good hand, before looking up at Alucard. “I guess it kind of explains why the dreams feel so real, right?”
Alucard ran a fingertip over it, feeling a slight tingling in his hand as he did so. Drawing it back he sighed, “I guess so” he agreed, “As long as it stops at jewelry we should be okay” he said lightly.
She gave him a look then smirked. “Yeah okay, Alucard, I believe that one as much as I believe tomorrow it’s gonna drop six feet of snow on us.” she smiled at him. “Let me guess, you’re feeling a little different aren’t you? Because if I’m getting things from my dreams, and it appears we seem to change, at least according to those on the network, you’ve got to have noticed something.” she was a smart cookie, even if she didn’t want to be right now.
He chuckled at that before nodding in acceptance of her words, “My senses seem to be somewhat heightened” he told her, “Nothing to be concerned with”
She smirked a bit. “Is that all?” she leaned on him, smiling softly. “I’m not concerned. Curious but not concerned.”
“So far” Alucard said, he’d noticed he was more sensitive to a number of things and he wasn’t needing as much sleep as he used to. “I’m concerned” he admitted, “what happens when the dreams finish. Do we become our dream selves?” It had been on his mind for a while, what would they do if there came a point when Alucard required blood to survive.
She tucked a strand of blonde out of her eyes. "We'll figure it out. I don't know, offhand. No clue whatsoever. " she frowned a smidge. If that happened she'd figure it out. She loved him so she'd try.
Alucard wanted to wipe away the frown so he picked Integra up and carried her back to the bedroom, “Let’s not think about it for now” he said, “It won’t help or change things” He set her down on the bed with a brief kiss to her lips, “Do you want to sleep some more? Or would you rather have breakfast?”
She let him carry her to bed, returning his kiss softly. "Breakfast. I had gotten up. " though their need was kinda comfy. "Guess I have to take the day off? " holding up her hand.
“You’ll have to instruct me in the art of making it” he told her with a wry smile, “And you guess correctly. I’m going to drive you to the doctor later as well. Make sure everything is okay”
She laughed softly. "Well then ill need to get dressed and it of bed so I can make sure you don't burn the kitchen down. " She ran her other hand through her hair. "Im sure it's fine"
“Or you could stay in your robe” he suggested grinning while he ran his hand along the front of the fluffy jacket. “I’m sure it is darling but I’m taking no chances”
She grinned. " I can do that I think. " She grinned at him and slid to her feet to pad downstairs to their kitchen. "I'll go only because you're worried. " as she plunked herself in a stool.
“Mmm good” he wrapped his arm around her as they made their way to the kitchen. “Thank you” he said, kissing her again, “I appreciate it” And he did. He knew she wasn’t a fan of doctors but he was concerned. He’d never forgive himself if anything was wrong and he hadn’t taken care of her properly. “Now instruct me my dear”
She leaned on him and smiled softly. “I love you, and your protective streak.” she grinned a bit and tucked her feet under the stool. “We’ll go simple, eggs and toast.” she teased. “Turn the burner on, and let the pan heat for a couple minutes.” she was amused at him.
“Love you too” he replied as he ruffled her hair before hopping out of the way and into the kitchen. “Simple is good, I am but a simple man” he replied before sticking his tongue out at her before doing as she instructed.
She rolled her eyes at him. “You are anything but simple my love.” she laughed softly. She talked him through making everything, including the toast. She rather liked her toaster not frying, after all. “How did you ever survive without me?” she asked grinning softly.
He followed her instructions to the letter, making sure to double check something if he was unsure. He may be a skilled killer but he wasn’t ashamed to admit he didn’t know something. “Cereal and takeaway are valid meal choices” he informed her corners of his mouth twitching upwards.
Integra leaned on the counter, watching him. Strange how he was so good at a lot of things and cooking was a downfall. “No, no they are not.” she said with a smirk as she shook her head softly. “They are alternatives to good eating. They are not valid meal choices.” she mused, shaking her head at him.
“Well they kept me going until you rescued me from them” Alucard told her, “But I do prefer your cooking. You are a culinary goddess my love”
"And none too soon. How you stayed in shape on that diet I’ll never know my heart. I am no chef but I can cook enough! " she smiled at him.
“Gifted metabolism” he grinned, “And compared to me you are a five star chef and I am very grateful for it”
"Well then you're welcome. Lets save takeaway until we're sick or to exhausted to cook then" She smiled at him. "Eggs should be done"
“I can agree to that” he told her with a smile before moving to take care of the eggs, he was actually quite impressed that nothing had caught on fire yet. Something terrible usually happened.
It was because she was keeping a good eye on things. "Put the toast In the toaster. Its set to the right toast setting so don't touch it." She smiled and watched him. He might be far older than her but he never acted it. Nor did he look it. "Oh my... we forgot my birthday..." She started laughing.
Alucard nodded, doing as instructed. Left on his own he probably would have fiddled with the timer in all honesty. “Actually I did have a restaurant booked but, well, with your voice gone it didn’t seem right” he told her, “But we can go whenever you like, have a belated celebration”
"Oh. Well then yes that would be nice. I'm sorry this place threw a wrench in your plans." She loved him all the more. "Thank you for remembering. " She blushed faintly.
“I should have known something would happen as soon as I made plans” he shrugged, he didn’t really mind. The more concerning thing at the time had been Integra’s lack of voice. “I always remember” he told her softly.
“That’s how our life goes, isn’t it?” she laughed softly as she looked up at him at his soft tone, a warm smile on her lips. “You always did, even when the world was too busy to stop you remembered.” softly, head tilting a touch.
“Apparently so” he chuckled before leaning over to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear, “Of course, it’s an important day” he stroked her cheek with a long finger before he pulled back.
Integra tilted her head into his finger before smiling softly. “It’s not that important, love.” she said softly as she looked down, momentarily shy and quiet. She closed her eyes for a moment before opening them to look at him. “I love you. You have no idea how much”
“It’s very important” he corrected her with a soft smile which was only ever for her. “I think I may have some idea actually as I love you more than anything in the world my darling”
"Alucard... " she said softly before holding her hand out to him. "You honor me with that. I don't deserve you. "
“You deserve far more and better than me” he told her taking her hand in hers and twining their fingers before bringing them to his lips to kiss her soft skin.
Integra blushed. Fingers twined with his, a loving smile on her lips as he kissed her hand. "No I don't. I need you. "
“You have me” he promised her, “You’ll always have me”
She nodded and pulled him to her so she could bury herself in his arms. "Thank god. I don't know where I'd be without you"
He wrapped her in his arms protectively, lovingly as he kissed her hair, “As long as you need me I’ll be here for you, even when you don’t” he added somewhat wryly, “You own my heart Integra”
"Well then. " She laughed softly. "Even when we find out what all the dreams mean?" She asked holding him close.
“Nothing can change the way I feel about you, I promise” he told her honestly, he already knew that whatever else might be between their dream selves the Alucard in them loved her too. It was a darker and more possessive love - if that was possible - but it was there.
She nodded and laid her head on his shoulder. "Good. Thank you. " in their dreams he really did have a more possessive and dark love. It was strange but she knew she felt comforted by it.
