Who: Laura and Jubilee What: Final goodbyes When: 2010 Where: New York Status: Complete Rating: PG-13
True to her word, Jubilee had come back from time to time, leaving gifts for Laura and watching out for her. A bully would find himself scared out of his wits, among other things. But the time between gifts grew longer and longer, until they stopped coming completely. She had to wean herself off of Laura, especially as the girl grew into the person she remembered, from both her life before, and the dreams.
But she couldn’t keep away, not as she watched Laura sneak into a night club. Not as she watched her dance.
Laura loved her moms, she really did, but sometimes she had to go out and have a little fun. She had her purse tucked under her arm and her fake ID ready to go. It was a really good fake, she knew she could get in. She smiled at the carder and accepted her under 21 bracelet with dignity. She didn’t want to drink, she wanted to dance. She could feel the beat in her chest and she wanted it to fill her up entirely.
She hit the dance floor, dancing with abandon. It was nice to get out and just enjoy herself. Especially in a club full of hot people.
Jubilee had picked a pair of women, in part because she wanted Laura to not have to worry about accepting herself later on.
She watched the girl take the dance floor and followed. Maybe she’d remember her face, maybe not. Jubilee had a lot of makeup on, mostly to keep herself from looking so pale, but also to make herself less obvious. She started to dance her way, and then cut in on some dude.
Laura noticed the way Jubilee moved first. She was graceful, and looked familiar somehow. She shrugged the feeling off, and made her way over the bar. She could get a bottle of water, and she needed one after dancing so much!
Jubilee kept in sight, throwing glances Laura’s way. She kept her powers dialed off, wanting the girl to choose her and not be forced into it. She did dial up the sexiness of her dancing, though.
Laura drank her water and watched Jubilee move. She was hot stuff, and Laura wondered what it would be like to dance with her. She was dancing with a guy now, which was pretty damn hot. Laura wasn’t sure who to be jealous of.
Eventually she made her way back out to the floor and started to dance again, stealing glances at Jubilee now and then.
The vampire moved as though she'd been dancing for decades. She'd watched dances come and go, been on stage, stripped, done ball room dancing and flapper dancing, and everything in between. From the tango to disco.
She maneuvered her guy closer to Laura, running her hands down her own body and then deftly trading partners with Laura's partner. She didn't say anything, just pulled the girl into the rhymthm of the dance and ignored the guys' protests.
Laura laughed and stuck her tongue out playfully at the boys before she focused on Jubilee. She was so graceful, and Laura admired her openly. When she saw Jubilee’s eyes she remembered. The memories were foggy, she hadn’t believed they were real, at first. “Jubilee?”
Shit. Knew I should have worn sunglasses. Still she made her voice go lower. “Might be thinking of someone else…” She rested her hands on Laura’s hips.
“You have red eyes.” Laura noted, but didn’t move Jubilee’s hands. “Like an angel’s.”
Her hands slid around to the small of Laura’s back and their hips pressed together as they danced. “Don’t Angels usually have wings and halos?” Her eyes flashed and she grinned. This felt so natural, and she’d missed it so much.
Laura moved along with Jubilee’s body, her hands stroking through her hair and sliding down her back. “Who needs wings when you can jump really far?”
“Sure you weren’t dreaming…?” The pulse of life in Laura’s body was achingly familiar. One of Jubilee’s hands slid up her back, and into silky hair. The other stroked back and forth above her rear end. “You’re really beautiful.”
Laura sighed softly. “If I was, it was a good dream.” She leaned in close, kissing Jubilee softly.
A groan escaped from Jubilee's throat, and she kissed Laura back. It was like a dam holding back the reservoir, but she kept it as soft as she could. "Could be you're dreaming now..."
“Then there won’t be any consequences if I kiss you again.” Laura replied, her voice thick and heavy with desire. She wrapped a leg around Jubilee’s hip, drawing their bodies close together as they kissed again. This time she put some effort into it. If this woman was her guardian angel, then she deserved a proper kiss.
Shouldn't the vampire be doing the seducing? She focused on Laura's jugular with her eyes, then closed them as they kissed. Her body molded into Laura's like it belonged there, and her fingers danced at the hem of her dress.
Laura moaned needily into the kiss. She’d done a little fooling around, but mostly she was focused on her school work and sports. She felt like she was doing something wonderful and naughty. The kiss lasted a long time, and she whimpered lightly when it broke.
“Let me show you how to fly,” Jubilee said, voice rough. She had moaned just needily. “Figuratively. It’s … wonderful.” She kissed Laura’s jaw, then her neck, letting out a hungry, desperate groan.
“Uh huh.” Laura said, a little smug. “I bet it is.”
Jubilee bit Laura. Lightly enough that she didn’t draw blood, but hard enough to feel good. It was taking all her self control to not a) drink from her here and now or b) have her on the floor here and now.
Laura gasped and almost pushed Jubilee away. Her teeth felt strange, and nobody had ever bitten her before. “Oh my God, we need to go somewhere else.”
“Hold on tight,” Jubilee said, and in the next breath they were outside, the world around them having become a blur. She pressed Laura against a wall and kissed her again. See? It was a dream, no one could move like this.
Laura gasped and pressed her hands against the wall. She kissed Jubilee intensely, and broke the kiss for air. “You’re amazing, unbelievable.” But she wanted to believe.
I love you, the Hotness thought, her red eyes darkening with desire. Not here, either. Not here. They needed a bed. Or a field of flowers, that would work too. Her hands snuck under the hemline of Laura’s dress and her fingers dug into the skin of her thighs. “I want you to believe. Need you to.”
Laura gasped. This was all making her head spin a little, and she was a little afraid. “I believe.” She said, meeting Jubilee’s eyes.
Gently, she lowered Laura back down, and straightened her dress. “You’re going to feel like a princess.” She kissed her lightly, then pulled back, still gazing at her. “And you can stop it, any time you want.”
Laura nodded, looking at Jubilee’s face. “Okay. I’ll stop if I want to.”
They were on the move again a moment later. Fast as the wind, but Jubilee’s grip was firm and protective. Several minutes later she was leading Laura into a ritzy hotel. She’d been staying there for a couple of months, and would have to move on soon, but she couldn’t think of a better place for this.
Laura was impressed by the hotel, and her fear was mostly dissolved into nervousness, now. She looked around the place, whistling softly. “I’ve never been in here before.”
She took Laura’s hand and led her into the elevator. “I told you I was going to make you feel like a princess.” Jubilee couldn’t stop herself. She knew this was a bad idea, and wrong on a dozen levels, but Laura’s smell and the sound and taste and look of her… it stirred a fire in her belly and made her heart feel better.
Laura giggled. “Yeah, you did.” And she was beginning to feel that way. “You haven’t changed, have you? You don’t look any older than me.” Well, not a lot older, anyway.
"I'm an angel, right?" Jubilee took Laura's hand with her right one, while her left ran down the girl's hip.
Laura had said so, and there wasn’t a reason to believe otherwise. Laura moved closer, pressing her lips gently to Jubilee’s.
She drank in the taste of Laura’s lips. When the door opened she pulled her into the hallway, kissing her and rubbing her hands over the girl’s body. It took all her will to not disrobe her right outside the door, but she got it open, and got them inside.
The room was a suite. It had a massive luxury bathroom, a huge bed, and a view that looked out over the ocean.
Laura moaned softly as Jubilee stroked her body, and barely looked at the hotel room. It was nice, but she didn’t care. She’d scope it out later. Right now making out was her top priority.
As hard as Jubilee was kissing Laura, her hands were gentle. Now that they were safe and in the privacy of the hotel room, she let herself take time to explore, slow dancing their way over to the bed.
Laura giggled, letting Jubilee lead her. Her fears and anxiety were gone. Jubilee was capable of hurting her a lot, but she was being gentle and silly, and Laura was having a good time so far.
“Plop.” Jubilee said, laying her on the bed. She shed her jacket, then tugged Laura’s dress down. She cupped Laura’s face and kissed her. I love you. Even if I never see you again, I love you.
It was one of the most amazing nights of Laura’s life. She sighed softly as she tugged the blankets up over them both, tired but pleased. Her moms were going to kill her, but she didn’t care at the moment. “I need to get home soon.” Laura admitted.
Nuzzling Laura’s chin with her cheek, Jubilee let out a sigh. “I know.” She’d felt alive again. She always did with a love but with Laura it was extra special, and extra alive. “I’ll take you home. Do you feel like a princess?”
Laura nodded, smiling softly. “I do. Thank you. Will you- will I see you again?”
“I want….I want to.” She couldn’t lie to her, not about her own feelings. “But I don’t know when I’ll see you again. It could be a few years. Could be longer. But I won’t be able to stay away forever.”
Laura nodded and took off her necklace. It was just a cheap pendant she'd gotten from the mall, but it was all she had to give. "Hang on to this until then."
Jubilee closed her fingers around it. It was a fair trade, for the dogtags and ring. “I won’t let anything happen to it.”
Laura nodded and got out of bed, tugging her clothes on. What could she say? "My moms are really nice, thank you for rescuing me.”
“Sometimes you have to do the right thing,” Jubilee replied, pulling the pendant over her head. No matter how much it’s going to hurt in the end. “What do you want to be?” She shouldn’t ask, shouldn’t try to know more, but she needed to know that Laura was on a better path.
Laura thought for a minute, then laughed. “It’s silly, but I want to be a vet. Animals and I just click, for some reason. Especially dogs.” She was BFFs with every dog she met. She shimmied into her sexy dress and checked her hair. “My moms are going to kill me.” She hoped they wouldn’t be too mad when she told them about this. Though she thought she’d leave out the part about thinking Jubilee was an angel.
“Let me take all the heat,” Jubilee assured her. “Like that one chick on the L-word. The one that broke all those hearts.” She walked up and kissed her, and decided in a couple of years, a little ginger puppy was going to find it’s way into Laura’s bedroom.
“They can’t ground you.” Laura pointed out as she tugged her ballet flats back on. “I’m totally grounded already. I can feel it.”
“Worth it?” Jubilee stood between Laura and the window, the moon in the sky behind her head like a halo.
Laura nodded. “Yeah. It was.” She gave Jubilee a shy smile.
“I’ll call a cab,” she whispered, resisting the urge to touch her face again. The urge to get on her knees and tell her everything. Why the dog tags were important, and the ring, and the things she’d given up to let Laura be normal. It was an urge she overcame.
“You can’t take me home like you brought me here?” It would be faster, and it would let them have another minute together.
Jubilee burst into a grin, then pulled on some pants and a pink shirt, then pulled her jacket on. She grabbed sunglasses and held out her hand. “I’m gonna take the scenic route. If you’re okay with that.”
“As long as it doesn’t take too long.” Laura was nervous again, but for a different reason this time.
“I won’t let you get too much in trouble.” She picked Laura up, like she was a damsel. “But I did promise you we’d try to fly.”
Laura laughed and put her arms around Jubilee’s neck. “Then let’s give it a shot.”
