Glinda was using Elphaba’s office once again to hold meetings about the fashion house. The website had gone live and Glinda wanted to make sure that Alice was okay maintaining it whilst studying and also give her the great feedback it had received.
Alice was excited about her work just as much as ever. It was a different kind… now she’d built the website, the maintenance was keeping her busy, though it was different now from the building. Easier, but she was learning different things.
“Hello, Miss Glinda?” She asked, poking her head into the open doorway of the office.
“Alice!” Glinda looked up and smiled brightly, “How wonderful to see you. Come in, come in. How are you?”
“I’m good!” Alice was beaming as she stepped into the office. She reached forward a hand to shake her boss’s hand. “How are you? Things running smoothly?”
“I’m great thank you” Glinda beamed gesturing to Alice to take a seat after they shook hands, “Things are going brilliantly. I have to tell you we’ve had some wonderful feedback about the website. Everybody adores your work”
“Really?” Alice asked, going pink and grinning shyly. “That’s wonderful news! I’m so glad that I can help! I wanted to give you some progress reports, and make sure that your emails are working perfectly.” She said, then sat to pull her laptop out of her bag. They could go through the visitor data and other reports together really quick. “I don’t want to take too much of your time.”
“Don’t worry about that dear” Glinda smiled assuringly, as she moved to come and sit on Alice’s side of the desk so they could look at things more easily. “You’ve really done a stellar job of it all”
Alice went even more pink, and the grin was splitting her face in two now. She nodded once. “I’m trying my best. Anyway, here’s what we’ve got.” She ran through all the information that she thought Glinda would want to hear, and then some. Website traffic, emails, how things were going. She talked about hosting the site at a different server, and all the other work-like stuff that she needed to talk with Glinda about.
Glinda, for the most part, felt kind of lost but what she did understand was that things were going well and Alice seemed happy with it. “Do you have everything you need? We aren’t asking too much of you while you’re trying to study are we?” she checked.
“Oh, no, a lot of this is maintenance stuff.” Alice responded, shrugging her shoulders once. “I love doing it, too. I’ll do whatever I can to spread the word. The Twitter campaign worked out pretty amazingly. Ten thousand followers. And that’s just the start. I bet we can do more.”
“Good, I wouldn’t want to get in trouble with your mom or professors or get you into trouble either” Glinda smiled, “I’m so glad you enjoy it, we’re loving having you on board. Ten thousand is incredible” she may not know much but she knew that, “It’s all still so exciting”
“Nah, you don’t need to worry about that! College can wait, if it needs to, and my Mom… well, my Mom can calm down a bit. She’s a mother hen. I love her to death, but still.” Alice was a little nervous how Esme was going to react to her relationship with Jasper. “Yeah! Like I said, I think ten thousand is just a start.” She added, grinning. “Things are really chugging along.”
“I’m sure she just wants the best for you” Glinda said, wishing her mom had been a bit more mother hen-ish. She’d been nice enough but had gotten very critical as Glinda had gotten older resulting in Glinda’s self esteem issues. “Wonderful” Glinda declared, “Absolutely wonderful”
“Yeah. She does.” Alice nodded. She had a fantastic mother. She was a little nervous about talking to her mom about her relationship with Jasper, but Edward had taken it well. So, one down. “All right, well, I should let you get back to work. And I’ve got more apartment hunting to do.”
"Absolutely, don't let me keep you" Glinda smiled, "I'm sure you'll find the perfect place soon. If you need a hand just let me know. I love shopping of any kind" she winked.
“Fingers crossed!” Alice said with a grin, holding up a hand with her fingers crossed. She collected her things, packed up her bag and stood. “My br--” Hmm. God, what to call him? “I have someone helping me look at places. So I’m sure it’ll turn out all right.”
“Oh I have no doubt it will Alice” Glinda smiled, “You’ll find a great place I just know it” If anybody deserved it then it was Alice. She was a sweet girl and Glinda hoped everything turned out okay for her.
“Thanks, Glinda.” Alice said. She smiled, nodded once, then turned to head out of the office. “We’ll talk soon. I’ll email you.”
“You’re welcome and thank you” Glinda said with a little wave, “Make sure you do. See you again soon Alice”
