Tension drew out between them as Loras stared back at Obi-Wan, unmoving, deliberating. How easy it would be to call that bluff. Dozens of times Loras had upped that same ante with others, maybe hundreds, and he wondered whether Obi-Wan naturally expected it the way his own body seemed to.
Only it occurred to Loras now how crass it all was, how impossibly sad.
"Maybe not," he quietly said instead, eyes slanting away with a duck of his head as he turned half a step away, hesitated for a fraction of a moment, then moved from the banister. "Go if that's what you want." It hadn't been the first time Loras had said it to Obi.
