The moment Obi-Wan's gazed turned into a glare in her direction her own eyes narrowed at his and she set the clock on the counter so she could cross her arms. Two could play at this game and it was all his fault that Anakin was upset. Apparently the man had ears like a bat even though Padme was trying to keep it between just her and Obi-Wan.
"I'm only apologizing because you look so upset with and disappointed in me. And no, he's not my sponsor or anything like that, but I trusted his judgment that I should wait to really get to know you because maybe he knew something I didn't. But things don't always work out the way they're supposed to. You are far more charming than you give yourself credit for because I didn't want to stay away from you. I just didn't bother to tell him any of this, so this was a bit of a surprise," she glanced back and forth between the two men when she spoke. She felt bad that she hadn't told Obi-Wan before this, but he had been a cat, and she didn't think to tell Anakin about the arrangement because she obviously didn't follow it.
