Nate yawned as he trudged into the shower, and turned on the water, groaning as he slipped out of his robe and into the hot water. God, that always felt good. He had worked late last night, and only now around noon, was he rising. He was pretty sure everyone else was away right now, so he was just leaning against the wall and running his hands up and down to clean off tiredly.
Kitty had come back to pick something up. She jogged through the house and past the bathroom, then she backed up and peeked in. "Hey, showering with the door open?"
“Hmm, what?” Nathan backed up and peered out of the shower, giving her a full view, accidentally. “Oh, sorry.” He edged behind the shower door. “Didn’t think anyone was here.”
“Gah!” Kitty flung her hand up in front of her eyes, then peeked through her fingers at him. “I just came back for a few things!” God, was that a snake?
He peered around the shower wall, which, of course, was not all that concealing. “Sorry to shock you then.” The water coursing over his body was slowly waking him up, and he just chuckled.
“Actually, wanted to ask you something. Why don’t you, ah..” She flailed her hands, stammering a little. “Finish up. I’ll be downstairs.”
“Okay! See you soon!” And he turned back to washing. Hell, he had seen her naked at least once. Really, he was willing to ignore it once, and lock the door next time. he closed the door in her face, and thought of Cora, blushing as he did so. He would make sure it never happened again. Cora was the only one he actually wanted to see him that way now, even if it had to wait a few years.
Kitty would think that was cute, but she was grabbing one of her bags and heading downstairs. She popped open a soda to wait, shaking her head. Men’s bodies were funny. She’d forgotten that. Still nice. But funny.
Nate came down a little later, dressed in jeans and a t-shirt, with a vest over it, with many pockets in it. “Thanks. How goes?” He nabbed some water and floated it to his hands, sipping it as he settled opposite her.
“Pretty good. I was hoping you could help me locate some parts. I’m going to be working on a project with my girlfriend for Thor, and I need some really strong gears. I figure you’re really good at finding original parts.” Kitty grinned at him.
Nate brightened as she told him her need. “Sure. I can help with that. I’ll get Professor up and running, and then reach out to a couple of contacts I have, as well. You have a list?”
He liked helping people.
“Yeah. I have some of the parts and Rikku has some others, but there are a few parts that I’m not sure where to look.” She started scribbling on a notepad. “I have a budget and if we do this right we might be able to make these things and sell them. I’ll pay you for your help, too!”
“Sounds good to me. I’ll do my best to help in every way I can.” He smiled at her, excited at the idea. “I like working with you. You’re a pretty smart cookie.”
“I know I am, but you’re pretty smart too.” She pointed her fingers at him. “How are you and Cora?”
“I am a bit.” He grinned at her. Then his smile got wider. “We are good. We are taking it slow. We are at t-minus one year and nine months or so, until anything past mind-touch and snuggling can happen and we are both quite happy.”
“Oh yeah, she’s still not legal.” Kitty made a face. “It’s pretty sweet of you to hold off. I wasn’t able to when I was her age.” She winked.
Nate nodded. “I love her and am willing.” He smiled at Kitty, somewhat caught off guard by her words. “Ah, well, she and I connect in an intimate fashion, deeper than bodies.”
“Cheater,” Kitty smirked at him. That must be amazing, but she hadn’t had the control when she’d had telepathy to risk it with Rikku. She didn’t want to hurt her or ..well broadcast what they do.
He pffted at her. “Not at all. Using what we have.” He smiled softly. “Nothing less or more than that.” He turned to her. “How is Rikku?”
“Really good. I think she walks on eggshells around me sometimes. I’m worried I’m gonna hurt her some how. Since I’m trying to deal with shit.” Kitty was really lucky to have met her. Especially with Illyana and Clarice moving away.
“Keep trying. That keeps you sane. I’ve been seeing a therapist since I was… well, eight.” He grinned at her. “You’ll be fine, in time.”
Kitty smiled a little wanly, but her mood seemed to have improved. “Thanks. I guess we’ll just see how it all goes.”
