She was happy when Katherine agreed to go out shopping with her. It was something she always loved doing with the girls. The older they got, the more it seemed they did it one on one. Which was fine by her. Either way she enjoyed the time she was able to spend with her nieces. Jenna loved both of her nieces equally. She was and always would be there for both of them. But she has always seen more of herself in Katherine than Elena. Elena had many more of Miranda’s qualities than even Jenna ever possessed. More often than not that made her feel for Katherine. She remembered when everyone was on her case for her attitude or the trouble she caused. And sometimes she felt like people were always on Katherine’s case. That was one of the ways there were alike. This time it seemed everyone was on her case about Magic Mountain. While she didn’t comment on most of the things she read between the kids, she did take note of it. Besides, Katherine didn’t need anyone to defend her. Jenna knew that she was more than capable of handling things for herself. “So I see everyone is on you to join them at Magic Mountain,” Jenna mentioned, sipping on her iced latte. It was an observation and not a judgment. She was letting Katherine vent if needed or get anything off of her chest. Whether or not Katherine wanted to go to Magic Mountain it wasn’t fair for the others to try and guilt her into it. Katherine could definitely take care of herself, but she liked talking to Jenna. While she would like to say she didn’t care what people thought of her, it was refreshing that Jenna never really seemed to judge her or want her to be anyone other than who she was. It honestly felt like people thought the sun shined out of Elena’s ass and that was annoying as hell. Katherine wasn’t perfect, but she didn’t think her twin was, either. “Yeah, I guess so,” she said as she browsed a rack of dresses. “What do you think of this dress?” She was trying to act like it didn’t bother her, but it did a little. Maybe it was because she hadn’t been able to see as much of Elijah lately. She didn’t know. She just knew that it bothered her, being called selfish just because she didn’t want to go someplace she wouldn’t have any fun. She’d never liked those kinds of places and she didn’t think Elena really needed her there, anyway. She just wanted to make her feel guilty for not wanting to go. Anyway, it wasn’t like they had even really talked much after that whole adoption thing, so she really didn’t get why Elena even wanted her to come. As far as she knew, her sister was still pissed at her for keeping it from her. That was a feeling Jenna could relate to all to well. Jenna loved Elena just as much as she loved Katherine and Jeremy but she didn't think any of them were perfect. If you asked her, being perfect seemed a little boring anyway. "That is a great dress. You should definitely try it on," Jenna said without hesitation. "I feel like I should be telling you its too short or something," she added with a smile a moment later. She moved some hangers, glancing through the articles of clothing. Nothing was seeming to jump out at her quite yet. "So why don't you want to go?" she casually asked as she searched for the size of the dress in front of her. Katherine nodded, slipping the dress over her arm. She was definitely going to try it off and she laughed at Jenna’s next comment. “But then you wouldn’t be ‘cool Aunt Jenna,’” Katherine returned with a smile. That was the whole reason she liked hanging out with Jenna. She didn’t get all parenty and she didn’t judge. She was actually fun. She shrugged when Jenna questioned her about the Magic Mountain thing some more. “It’s just not my kind of thing. I don’t like those places. Is it a crime to not be into rides and games and stuff?” she was a little defensive, but after the way everyone else had reacted to her not wanting to go, who could blame her? |
