"That's kind of an odd thing to say," she commented as she squeezed his hand lightly. She could understand where he was coming from with not wanting to hang the things up and be reminded of her, but some day they wouldn't be filled with sadness. But, she had to no right to press those things upon him at this point and time, "A little on the creepy side in regards to me. I guess I should be pleased that I make you happy, but you still manage to say things that come on a little too strong."
She didn't mean to be rude so she spoke softly with a slight quizzical tone to her voice. This level of intensity from someone she liked was new to her and she was still trying to become comfortable with it. After she spoke to him she moved closer to him and reached up to run the back of her hand along his cheek, "we should really move onto something not so heavy. Like how I need to check you for bruises."
